Faith Theological Seminary[edit]

Hi Stephen. I'm sure you've noticed that the article at Faith Theological Seminary has been changed back to it's old form again. I didn't actually create the entry myself, indeed my first change was to remove your edit. Let me explain why I've done this, I've linked to the relevant policies and guidelines for your convenience.

Text should not be copied directly from websites. Setting aside the copyright violations, the information does not conform to a neutral point of view. Neutrality is one of the fundamental values that the encyclopedia is based upon and promotional material will always show a clear bias. This means that anything copied across would have to be re-written in any case.
There is an issue with you editing the article in any case. Whilst it is not dis-allowed, any edits will be under further scrutiny due to your conflict of interest. I'm not saying it's necessarily a problem, but please be aware that you will have an automatic bias, which goes against the neutrality we aim to achieve.
Information on Wikipedia should be reliably sourced and verifiable. This means that Wikipedia should not contain any original content, it should all be accessible from third party sources which can be checked at any time.

I hope you can see that Wikipedia cannot and should not be used as a means of promotion or advertising. It is a collaborative environment and as such anyone can add or remove information from any article depending on the guidelines. The edits constitute information about the history of the institution which I have followed and studied for many years. It is NOT advertisement, nor is there anything in the article that is biased. It is only factual information of people, dates, and places related to the formation and evolution of the institution. No one's personal opinions on that history are found here in the entry. Hello Stephenhague. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. I have no financial gain to be made from the edits I made to this entry. They were made on my own initiative independently. It is of historical interest only to have an accurate account of the institution where I have taught. The information was confirmed by others who also know the history of the school and care about accuracy. This in itself does not constitute a conflict of interest, but rather demonstrates the greatest interest in preserving the historical record as accurately as possible. Your username strongly suggests that you have a clear conflict of interest with this subject. Are you denying that you have a connection to the seminary?

If you are employed by Faith Theological Seminary, then you are considered to be a paid editor by Wikipedia's definition. You do not have to be paid specifically to edit Wikipedia for this policy to apply.
