Image Tagging for Image:Patwelsh.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Patwelsh.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Hi, you have contributed to the article Wagga Wagga Marketplace. I am on a bit of a jaunt to improve shopping centre articles. Most of them do not show how the shopping centre in question is WP:Notable, ie why is this shopping centre different to any other shopping centre? Would wikipedia be worse off if this article did not exist but there was a generic article Shopping Centres in Australia which mentions that a shopping centre called the Wagga Wagga Marketplace exists. Could you please suggest something that could be added to the article to make it notable compared to all the other articles for shopping malls on Wikipedia? I ask this because I cannot see what makes one shopping centre notable compared to the one in the next suburb. Not every house has an article, why should every shopping centre? Thanks, I hope to implement some of your suggestions. I am happy to conduct a reasonable amount of web-based investigation to implement some of your thoughts. Or ideally, you could add some information to the article yourself, which shows how/why/when the Wagga Wagga Marketplace is notable. --Garrie 04:29, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Disambiguation Talk Request[edit]

This is a form message being sent to all WikiProject Disambiguation participants. I may have found your page based on your contributions or your link repair user box on your user page. If you are not a member, please consider including your name on the project page. I recently left a proposed banner idea on the WikiProject Disambiguation talk page and I would appreciate any input you could provide. Before it can be approved or denied, I would prefer a lot of feedback from multiple participants in the project. So if you have the time please join in the discussion to help improve the WikiProject. Keep up the good work in link repair and thanks for your time. Nehrams2020 23:15, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Recent SLJ edit[edit]

Hi Slj

Have researched your recent edit on "Rick Ardon" and there is no substantiation in your second line, derived from a "fun" newspaper headline or the copy that follows. Please be accurate for Wikipedia readers. Regards, Yobikol

Orphaned fair use image (Image:7 Adelaide.JPG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:7 Adelaide.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hello Slj, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Seven Sport.svg) was found at the following location: User:Slj/Seven Sport/. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 08:57, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you revert the edits to the "Sunrise" page?

For example, the fake "Dawn Service" was far from a mere "report". Email and other documentary communications held by staff in Kevin Rudd's office confirm as a fact that the Seven Network attempted to stage this event. This fact was widely publicised at the time.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.45.83.122 (talkcontribs)

Firstly in future please sign your comments using ~~~~.

Secondly your edits didn't fit with Wikipedia's code on maintaining a neutral point of view, see NPOV for future reference. Phrases like "trivialised the complaints" and "caught out" etc are not neutral. The sum of your edits across several articles clearly shows you have a problem with the show and are trying to change the articles so it matches your opinion.Slj 05:38, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As a contibutor to the above article would appreciate your feedback as to whether the articles on The Panda Band's album This Vital Chapter should be deleted - your feedback is important as to whether the item is retained or deleted. Dan arndt 09:55, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

August 2007[edit]

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Today (Australian TV program): You may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. KerotanTalk Have a nice day :) 06:00, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:BorderSecurityTitleScreen.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BorderSecurityTitleScreen.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:02, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Television schedules in network articles[edit]

Hi. I'm trying to get people who have an interest in the articles to engage in discussion on Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#Television schedules in network articles about whether television schedules fit within our article content policies. Fair use rationale for File:Fat cat.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Fat cat.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Content removed[edit]

Dear Slj:

The Wikimedia Foundation (“Wikimedia”) has taken down content that you posted here List of Australian television ratings for 2006 because someone alleged that your post infringes on a copyright. You can see their communication here: http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/DMCA_OZTAM

When someone makes a validly formulated notice of copyright infringement, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) requires Wikimedia to take the content down and to notify you that we have removed the content. This notice, by itself, does not mean that anyone is suing you. The take-down requestor might only be interested in removing the content from our site.

What Can You Do?

You are not obligated to take any action, but if you feel that your content does not infringe on any copyrights, you can contest the take-down request by submitting a ‘counter-notice’ to us. Before doing so, you should understand your legal position and you may wish to consult with an attorney. If you submit a counter-notice, the alleged copyright holder can stop us from restoring the content by suing you. Please note that Wikimedia will not be a party to any legal action that arises from you sending a counter-notice, and that Wikimedia is unable to provide you with legal advice.

Filing a Counter-Notice

If you choose to submit a counter notice, you must send a letter to legal@wikimedia.org asking Wikimedia to restore your content. The letter must comply with DMCA standards and must contain the following:

  • A link to where the content was before we took it down;
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe the content was taken down mistakenly;
  • Your name, address, and phone number;
  • If your address is in the United States, a statement that says “I consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court in the district where my address is located, and I will accept service of process from the person who complained about the content I posted”; or if your address is outside the United States, a statement that says “I agree to accept service of process in any jurisdiction where I can be found”; and finally,
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Pursuant to the DMCA, Wikimedia must inform the alleged copyright holder that you sent us a counter-notice and give the alleged copyright holder a copy of the counter-notice. We will restore the content you posted within ten (10) to fourteen (14) business days, provided that the alleged copyright holder does not give notice of suit to restrain re-posting of the material.

Miscellaneous

As a matter of policy and under appropriate circumstances, the WMF will block the accounts of repeat infringers as provided under the DMCA.

If you would like to learn more about Wikimedia’s policies, please refer to the Wikimedia Terms of Use, available at http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Terms_of_use and the Wikimedia Legal Policies, available at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Legal/Legal_Policies. More information on DMCA compliance may also be found at:

Wikimedia appreciates your support of Wikipedia and will be happy to assist you if you have any additional concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding this notice.

Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest[edit]

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:24, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Basil Zempilas has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

An advertorially toned page on an unremarkable newscaster. Significant RS coverage not found. The article lists no 3rd party sources. Extensively edited by various single purpose accounts, including Special:Contributions/Seven_Perth, which appears to be the subject's employer.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Orphaned non-free image File:BorderSecurityTitleScreen.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:BorderSecurityTitleScreen.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use.
