Hello. I noticed you added the category "Living people" to this article. Could you please direct me to where I could start a discussion proposing the elimination of this category? In my opinion it's probably the most inane one used in Wikipedia. Thank you for your help. MovieMadness (talk) 19:43, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

French places[edit]

If you could help me out like that -this would be a a great thing!!! All we need is two or three people and they will all be stubbed, all of them started on wikipedia and then they can be built on. Thanks! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ $1,000,000? 21:40, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thats ok. I'm nearly done for today too I've just started on Communes of the Doubs department. Iys terrible that an encyclopedia of this age has practically nothing on places in whole provinces especially countries like France ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ $1,000,000? 21:46, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I've been working my way through the departments I started with Ain and have currently reached Doubs see the template I created below. Some of the later ones are done but most are like this. This should have been done five years ago and by now they should have developed into at least start class articles yet they are missing entirely!! And then I get people complaining at me rather than congratualting me for having the incentive to realise how much is missing!! It would mean an enormous lot to me if you could help out when you have a spare moment, I always work better with somebody. Once they are all started then at least there is something to build upon later. There are precious few people who actually realise how many places like Ottrott -(nice name) are missing and could all be fully developed eventually. Best regards

♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ $1,000,000? 22:05, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This was discussed and approved at AN/I discussion, so don't let anybody stop you. These editors seem to be under the impression that stubs can't be expanded and that every new articles should be fully complete ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ $1,000,000? 19:55, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maxfield_Point_Light[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Maxfield_Point_Light, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Maxfield_Point_Light. Taxman214 (talk) 20:12, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Maxfield Point Light, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Maryland NHLs[edit]

Hi Albert -- When you ask about what are the notability limits for municipally-designated landmarks in some town in MD, I wonder, why not work on List of National Historic Landmarks in Maryland first? I know that doesn't answer your question, which is probably only answerable by trying to create those articles and seeing if they're attacked by the notability police (meaning people who nominate new articles for deletion). But seriously, it would be great if you would take an interest in developing that list's descriptions of sites, or developing articles for the red-links, or otherwise taking charge and being bold with that. The List of National Historic Landmarks in Virginia and the List of National Historic Landmarks in the District of Columbia similarly could use help. Cheers :) doncram (talk) 23:57, 8 February 2008 (UTC) P.S. I have just put List of National Historic Landmarks in New York up for peer review; it's a more developed list that you can consider as a an example. Knock on wood, i hope the peer reviewers aren't too harsh on it.[reply]

French communes[edit]

You should probably substitute the {{PAGENAME}}s on each article.   jj137 (talk) 20:08, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't really make a physical difference, but what's the point of keeping it with using {{PAGENAME}}s? If you're just copy and pasting the same thing, just change the {{PAGENAME}}s to {{subst:PAGENAME}}.   jj137 (talk) 20:12, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yep I'm calling it a day too!! Thanks for all your help. It makes a huge difference. We'll nail France soon enough and then gradually infoboxes and details can be added. I think we've broken a record today we went from 2,228,000 mid yesterday evening to over 2,232,200 at present, over twice the average. We're past the half way mark now ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:58, 16 February 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Yep I'm tired too now!! I'll try to finish off that department a bit later. I see Styrofoam doesn't realise that these are towns in which the articles could have images and eventually become full articles. Do we really need 2,235,000 articles styrofoam? Thats not the point. We are here to build the most comprehensive encyclopedia imaginable and to try to make "the sum of all knowledge" a reality ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:36, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What's with the French towns?[edit]

I noticed that you and User:Blofeld of SPECTRE are both creating so many stubs about French towns. Meanwhile, other countries don't have that many articles about those small average towns. I'm not criticizing your work here, but I just wanted to know if we really need all these things. contribsSTYROFOAM☭1994TALK 21:15, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In answer to above. Yes many, many countries on wikipedia already have full articles on small towns. Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Norway, Italy, UK, US etc etc etc some of them are evne on hamlets which are more detailed than anything we've got for France at present. Eventually theres no reason why any place in any country of the world can't have some sort of coverage. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:41, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

French communes[edit]

I, hereby award Albert for his outstanding effort on creating French communes related article. We need more articles like the ones you are making. Keep it up--NAHID 21:41, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Slow Down![edit]

Please slow down adding those villages a bit! The current burst speed makes it impossible to do any Newpage patrol (Every 5 seconds my entire new page list is wiped out) Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 18:40, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry![edit]

Didn't mean to make a mess of things. Just trying to knock out as many as I can quickly. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 18:47, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • No big problem, but at 2 articles every 5 seconds, it gets really hard to do any new page patrol. Try keeping at 1 page every 5-10 seconds or so :) Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 18:49, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

French communes (2)[edit]

Hi Albert,

I see you've been creating stub articles about French communes lately, probably using AWB like our bald (departed???) friend. I wanted to let you know that I've cleaned out all ambiguous communes in the Lot-et-Garonne and Sarthe departments. That means that for the current "red links" the article title is the same as the name of the commune, and the same as the article title in French, Dutch, Italian etc. etc. wikipedia. No worries about bad interwikis. Could you do them? Markussep Talk 20:47, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine, they've been article-less for 5 years, they can wait a few more days. I'll see if I can clean up more departments before the weekend, from Friday I'll be away (to France, actually) for a week. Markussep Talk 21:24, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Val-d'Oise is ready too. You can fill the other departments too if you have the time, I'll check the missing articles after you're done. Markussep Talk 20:56, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've put it on the project page. I'm still awaiting an answer from the person helping me, for what the code is (without typing 3 pages), but I may be able to figure it out. Basketball110 what famous people say ♣ 00:29, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

French commune completion[edit]

Hi I think I finished starting them all today. unless I am mistaken Communes of the Somme department is the only one left but i can see someone is adding infoboxes type articles to that department so I didn't want to intrude. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 22:39, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know I am immensely grateful for the work you have done. I hope you don't think I discredited you in any way, if ten people like yourself had helped it would have been done long ago. Thanks!!! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 10:37, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'm just in the middle of correcting all the cities in Armenia. Earlier this morning somebody added many of the towns in Armenia with the wrong coordinates and without alink or map. Check out my latest edit corrections. The creator won't help -so it is left up to me. All you have to do is add the correct coordinates and typr in Armenia on the pushpin. Would you like to help? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 13:55, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For instance compare Hayt'agh (now correct) with Hoktember (wrong). I just google the name and copy the DMS coordinates ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 13:57, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to welcome you back to the project. With some help from User:AlbertHerring, User:Blofeld of SPECTRE, and User:Jj137, I have successfully revived the project. Welcome back, we hope to see you there, Basketball110 what famous people say ♣ 17:11, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My god check out this. You can now install download a virtual earth from microsoft. Basically it is a satellite map which is now in 3D (this is what I have visualized for years but wasn't aware it existed yet. Anywhere on the planet you can zoom in and see places in 3d. Welcome to the 21st century. This is why I do so much work on geo articles as I;m certain soon enough wikipedia will have 3d maps of places and people can browse towns and cities through the streets, select a building and the article in cities like NYC and Singapore etc. Amazing isn't it. It only takes about 10-15 minutes to install. I'm sure soon enough this can be done for wikipedia and we can view articles on towns and monuments, bridges, rivers etc in 3d. This ia fantastic development ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:25, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
