And I ask that you do not delete it until we have done so and you can confirm it meets the criteria. Thank you. (SCM9 03:27, 18 December 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Speedy deletion tags[edit]

From Why did the pallmer raids apper to violate citezens' rights?

No problem with the actual speedy deletion of this article, but there was actually plenty of context here. Had we not already had Palmer Raids an article like would have been a good way to discover that gap. Then a little cleanup with a few refernces and a short note on the original author's talk page would have also shown a neophyte the way to write a proper article. If you're keen, you could also create Pallmer raid, Pallmer raids, and Palmer raid as redirects. (IPs can't make pages.)

Where house[edit]

Hi there; although I have absolutely no argument about your assessment of this article for deletion, notability is, at present, not a wiki criterion for {{speedy}}. The accepted criteria are containeds in WP:CSD. If you want to use notability, you either have just to hang a {{notability}} tag on it, which does not guarantee deletion, or else use {{prod}} with any reason you like added.--Anthony.bradbury 19:09, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Albert and thanks for helping with this nomination. It is certainly spoiling us for choice and helping to raise the front page standards. Also, I think the comments on the suggestion page were about the article length rather than the blurb. In current circumstances, it looks at though 3kb articles are on thin ice due to the increased popularity of making nominations. Thanks, Blnguyen (bananabucket) 00:10, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:BernieSearle.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BernieSearle.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:04, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Image:BerryBickle.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BerryBickle.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Rodger Chanda[edit]

A tag has been placed on Rodger Chanda, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Dgies 08:08, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tired Of Being Personally Attacked! What should someone do if they have been REPEATEDLY PERSONALLY ATTACKED!? Isn't PERSONALLY ATTACKING someone AGAINST Wiki policy!? This user (TAnthony) ATTACKED me TWO times! Here's the attack that the below user (TAnthony) posted! He should be reprimaned IMMEDIATELY! I highlighted his ABUSE:

  • ATTACK 1 by TAnthony: OMG, this guy is an idiot. Unfortunately, I think I "started" it in a way; I tagged some disambig page thing he did for speedy deletion, and then all of a sudden a few Dune articles were tagged as "unreferenced" -- and they were literally articles pulled from my recent contribs, things I'd made tiny edits on. He said it was because the articles needed references, but one he tagged was the Dune: House Corrino article, which as you probably know is one paragraph of synopsis, and the article itself is the source! I reverted the first few things he did immediately but I knew eventually the rest of the Dune posse would get in on the act. Anyway, I think he'll lose interest; it's too much to hope that he'll realize he's wrong! User:TAnthony 15:26, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
  • ATTACK 2 by TAnthony: This and MANY other articles have been tagged by User:Yrgh latly with nebulous reasoning. He says these pages fit into the deltion policy but he doesn't say how; he cites articles as unreliable and unsourced and yet they clearly are. It is ludicrous that discussions need to be held on dozens of pages to indulge his insane tagging. Can any idiot just tag AfDs? TAnthony 01:44, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Since becoming a valuable Wiki editor, I've been PERSONALLY ATTACKED THREE TIMES ON WIKIPEDIA & NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT! The other time was when User:Juppiter (on the Christopher Goutman history pg) called mean "asshole"! I reported Juppiter & NOTHING was done about it! Consequences!?

No one, i repeat: no one, has told me about what is being or what will be done to TAnthony! Is this the image Wiki wants to portray: Come to Wiki, edit & BE INSULTED.....REPEATEDELY!?!?!?!?!?! Yrgh 09:11, 23 December 2006 (UTC)yrgh[reply]

I read the article you created on the Manhattan Opera Company. You have cited only one reference. A quick Google search for the company revealed an article written by Oscar Hammerstein III that gives another view of the company. It is important to have a balanced article, rather than one that relies on a single source. Perhaps you would be willing to expand the article with additional sources? — ERcheck (talk) 01:58, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It would be great if you could get to it soon — before its nomination on DYK expires. Please leave a note on DYK when you've made the edits. — ERcheck (talk) 02:08, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added a note about what appears to be the church mentioned in the article as being opposite the station; since the church was built in 1928 (and it's certainly a prominent structure), the line in the article might be expanded upon. MisfitToys 21:04, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New NRHP Collaboration Division[edit]

Hey, saw you were a participant in the National Register of Historic Places WikiProject. I thought I would let you know that there is a new Collaboration Division up for the project. The goal of the division is to select an article or articles for improvement to Good article standard or higher. There is a simple nomination process, which you can check out on the division subpage, to make sure each candidate for collaboration has enough interested editors. This is a good way to get a lot of articles to a quality status quickly. Please consider participating. More details can be seen at the division subpage. IvoShandor 10:59, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:CharlesThorntonTomb.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. MECUtalk 00:39, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maryland lighthouses and John Donahoo[edit]

I've gone through and created/edited all but one of the Maryland lighthouse articles, including providing all those you creted with infoboxes. You might want to go through and review them.

I have a question on John Donahoo. You listed him as the builder of the Watts Island Light. I think this is a mistake in the Lighthouse Society article. The construction date of this light was 1867, which would make it a bit hard for someone who died in 1858 to have built it. The USCG list for Virginia doesn't mention him at all. The missing twelth light is accounted for by Thomas Point: Donahoo built the first of the three lights erected there. Anyway, you should check this out.

It would be a good thing to have a large map of the bay (or in sections) indicating the locations of the lights. I've been trying to come up with something based on the NOAA navigation charts but if you can thing of something better/easier to work with, by all means.... Mangoe 17:28, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've checked de Gast, and I believe you are correct. I've made corrections and created Watts Island Light accordingly. Mangoe 05:06, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disaster page moves[edit]

I should inform you, as you are removing the years from a number of disaster article's titles, that they now no longer conform to the relevant naming convention, which was developed so that all such articles may be alike in title. If you disagree, I request that you bring up the matter at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disaster management. Thanks, Speciate 06:53, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I actually disagree with the naming convention, because it make the pages harder to alphabetize, and I said so yesterday on the disaster talk page. It makes little difference because of the simplicity of redirects, but leave your opinion there too if you want. Speciate 02:40, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings. There is going to be a Washington DC Wikipedia meetup on next Saturday, July 21st at 5pm in DC. Since you are listed in Category:Wikipedians_in_Virginia, I thought I'd invite you to come. I'm sorry about the short notice for the meeting. Hopefully we'll do somewhat better in that regard next time. If you can't come but want to make sure that you are informed of future meetings be sure to list yourself under "but let me know about future events", and if you don't want to get any future direct notices \(like this one\), you can list yourself under "I'm not interested in attending any others either" on the DC meetup page.--Gmaxwell 22:09, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:HowardHanson.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:HowardHanson.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 18:30, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:TibbettBradford.jpg[edit]

I have tagged Image:TibbettBradford.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Rettetast 21:31, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Danvignes[edit]

Danvignes, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Danvignes satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Danvignes and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Danvignes during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Rtphokie (talk) 20:09, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I did not propose the article for AfD, but have relisted it for more discussion. Tyrenius (talk) 15:58, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Little context in Willis, Grenada[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Willis, Grenada, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Willis, Grenada is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Willis, Grenada, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:FaceontheBarroomFloor.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:FaceontheBarroomFloor.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:20, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
