WHOA! What happened there!? I only changed one word (or thought I did!). I hope it got reverted quickly. -- Shinmawa 23:40, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

All fixed. I still can't explain what happened. I must have been editting an old version of the page, but I'm not sure how that happened either. Thank you so much for letting me know! -- Shinmawa 23:53, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AGF

I don't assume good faith with people who tell me my votes don't count, and then when I object, respond with, "eat me." User:Zoe|(talk) 00:38, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Irish chess

Sorry, I couldn't find anything either. Oh, there are lots of Google hits for "Irish chess," but they all seem to be about regular chess played in Ireland.Bjones 13:23, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Godcasting trashed

After spending so long putting something together, some user has come in trashed the article. What's up with that. How can someone do such a thing? I think I've had just enough of Wikipedia. There's so much bitching and fighting her it's nuts.

That was no mere edit. Most of the article is no gone. There was no reason to delete such important information. I can't be bothered discussion it with them, It's become completely apparent why Wikipedia has no credibility in scholarly circles. And unless fundamental changes are wrought, it never will. CentrOS 22:48, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • You said: "For what it's worth, thanks for the contribution you've made. It got there in the end." Well, but I didn't did I, because now 90% of what I wrote is gone. What a waste of time. Sure make me feel like contributing to other articles. CentrOS 01:17, 14 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Islamofascism redirect again

Hey... I don’t know if you have any interest in this subject anymore, but there is yet another attempt to bury the Islamofascism page elsewhere. If you’re interested, the debate is here: [[1]] IronDuke 19:49, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Album Infobox 2 template now deleted

I've noticed that you're still using the Template:Album_infobox_2 template in album articles you've created. That template has been deleted (after a lengthy discussion/dispute), and references to it now redirect to Template:Album_infobox. You may find it easier to use the simpler Template:Album_infobox when creating articles. Monicasdude 18:44, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up, but all the articles I created seem to have their infoboxes working fine. Are they going to break later at some point? --Malthusian (talk) 18:57, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The infoboxes won't "break" the articles, but they add (very slightly) to the backlog of housekeeping work that needs to be done. Most of the original references to the template have already been changed, and, if you're creating and uploading thumbnails, those are orphaned. Monicasdude 19:04, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Right. So... what was the actual difference between the templates? I'm just going through my articles deleting the '2' and noticing no difference. The only reason I used that template originally was because I copied the source text from another article (Revolver (album), IIRC) and changed the words, rather than trying to use the template from scratch. --Malthusian (talk) 19:10, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Infobox 2 template also included small cover images, for albums listed in the chronology section, with lines like "Last cover =" . If you're not uploading thumbnail images for the template, I don't think there's an immediate need to go back and clean up the text. Monicasdude 19:23, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Comparisons

Malthusian, I left this on the Gastrich RfC discussion page: "I was not comparing Jason himself to the 19, I was comparing the thought process, a comparison that is not ridiculous, but quite apt." I hope you didn't think I was comparing Jason to a terrorist -- I've said he's megalomaniacal, but I don't think he's homicidal. It's the "my religion is right and your's is atheist/werong/heathenistic/etc." crap that irks the hell out of me. Jim62sch 21:35, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If we didn't think our reigions were right, we wouldn't follow them. It's a mystery to me why anyone would follow a religion thinking that one or more of a bunch of others were the right ones, or that none of them were. Uncle Davey 20:54, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Dream Theater

Thanks for your advice on Jason. This happened a while ago, and I can see people aren't terribly happy with him. I wanted to ask him, because given that Dream Theater is progressive metal, I doubt he'd even heard it before labeling ALL of their albums as Christian Rock. Thanks for the advice, and I'll continue to keep my eyes open. Drlecter491 00:06, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CIVIL in the eBaum's AfD

I don't think I'm "devaluing" WP:CIVIL by thinking comments like "you should lose AfD privileges" and "where's the check from eBaum's World?" are... uncivil. You don't think that last one is an "ill-considered accusation of impropriety"? Unless--and this is very possible--those comments were meant more lightheartedly than I understood. But my reading of alwarren's comments was that thir tone was dismissive and a little aggressive to people that were putting forward reasonable arguments in a fairly collegial way. Note that I agree with him (and you) about keeping the article, I just thought he could tone it down a little. Was I really that off-base? —rodii 03:56, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for listening. I know what you mean by "waving policy around." I wasn't trying to say "be civil or else"--I hate it when people do that at the drop of a hat. I just meant "let's try to keep things civil in here." I appreciate the note. —rodii 15:45, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop removing the Marinol link on Steve Kubby...

...the anonymous editor was correct to insist on adding it: it is entirely germane to the article, and I would have included it myself, had I seen it. StrangerInParadise 22:00, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you're more involved with the article so I'll defer to you. I removed the anon's link because all the other links directly related to Steve Kubby. --Malthusian (talk) 22:52, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. The issue is whether Marinol is an adequate substitute for Kubby's legal- and critical- medication, and why his life should be placed at risk by denying it to him while in custody. He is in pre-trial custody now, and faces 120 days of custody for the previous charge. This is literally a life-and-death question. StrangerInParadise 23:08, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So I see. I'm glad that it got brought to my attention, it's a very interesting issue but being in Britain I wouldn't have heard of it otherwise. --Malthusian (talk) 23:24, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Commonsgallery

Hi Malthusian: My thoughts on this are still evolving, but I think I would probably rather see the central template improved to address its shortcomings, rather than create alternatives. However, given that this is not possible, the current situation seems to me to be the next best thing. In particular, I'm wondering whether a better situation might be to have the type of media and the image passed in as an argument to the template, as per the suggestion made at Template_talk:Commons#"media". E.g. {{commons|icon=music-note.jpg|type=Music}}, and {{commons|icon=camera-image.jpg|type=image gallery}}, and with {{commons}} using default arguments to give the same result as at the moment. Your thoughts on this? And moving the new template to {{commonsimage}} rather than {{commonsgallery}} after the vote sounds fine to me (although maybe the plural, {{commonsimages}}, or {{commons-images}}, would be more accurate most of the time). -- All the best, Nickj (t) 23:54, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ardingly College

Could you please tell me why you deleted Victor Silvester. He seems perfectly valid to me. -- Necrothesp 00:06, 31 January 2006 (UTC

Victor Silvester was a very famous British bandleader who has an entry in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. Maybe it was a different Victor Silvester who was deleted, but this one is most certainly notable enough for an article. Incidentally, it was the bandleader who went to Ardingly according to the DNB. He did indeed run away from school to join the army (although he'd left Ardingly by that time), although he wasn't shot. I think there's some confusion here. -- Necrothesp 15:41, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He ran away from another school to join the army at 14, was shot (by the enemy, not for cowardice) and wounded at 17. He received a commission in 1918, but soon left the army to become a professional ballroom dancer (and later a bandleader). You seem to have found the right man, but got false info that he was executed for cowardice. -- Necrothesp 16:08, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So much for uncensored....

I was A - Trying to be satirical, and B - Proving that Wikipedia is uncensored, which you've just disproved handily. Nice one, we've given in to the fanatics. 81.79.135.48 14:38, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
