Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankees win![edit]

Please understand that Sterling's signature call is not specific to any of these World Series. When you heard "Theeeeeeee Yankees win!" you will know it's from Sterling. But you won't know exactly which one it's about. So I suggest that leave the signature calls in Sterling's page only. And, as noted by Kingturtle, "with all due respect. but as this is an eyclopedia, it is policy to stick to the spelling of words. emphasis to be added only with italics".--NullSpace (talk) 02:51, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:TrudeauLiesInState.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:TrudeauLiesInState.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 14:02, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yankees/1994 strike[edit]

Stop inserting narrative opinions regarding the 94 strike into the Yankees WP article. Whether it's citing a book or not is irrelevant - saying it was the darkest day in NY sports history, shook the fans to their core etc these are OPINIONS. I have looked at your user page comments and you have been reprimanded numerous times before for including opinions in other WP articles. Just stop. Thank you. Incorrect stance on Eisenhower Inauguration[edit]

You seem to be convinced Dave Garroway and Jack Lescoulie were in Washington, D.C., along with Jim Fleming, for Today's coverage of Eisenhower's inauguration on January 20, 1953. When attempts were made to correct your edits, you offered (with no backing evidence) the statement, "Today, during presidential inaugurations, is in Washington, not from both New York and Washington."

Incorrect. At least in this case.

I refer you to NBC's own rundown for that day's coverage, as transcribed from the surviving kinescope:

"JIM FLEMING SEEN IN D.C. COMMUNICATION CENTER FOR NBC'S INAUGURATION COVERAGE...GARROWAY SEEN IN N.Y. STUDIO...LESCOULIE IN STUDIO ANNOUNCES IT'S 5 MINUTES BEFORE 8 AM." [Emphasis mine]

Now please, let the correct edit stand.

Bulls/Blackhawks/Rangers[edit]

Hi. Could you please stop inserting this into the Chicago Bulls article? It's an awkward digression, and it's hard to understand. If you want, you can briefly mention that the Blackhawks and Bulls were in the finals at the same time, but it's just not necessary to go off on a tangent about the New York Rangers.

(I don't mean to so blunt, but I've asked you about this before, and you never responded.) Zagalejo^^^ 18:30, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for responding. I still think that the bit about Mike Keenan is a little too detailed for an article about basketball. Your additions also fit poorly within the flow of the text. Try reading the articles from beginning to end.
Remember: just because something is true doesn't mean that it should be included in an article. We have to make sure we're not overwhelming readers with non-essential facts. Zagalejo^^^ 19:15, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It does seem that your recent contributions are a little better, though, so thanks for taking this to heart. Zagalejo^^^ 19:16, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand how the Bulls and Blackhawks being in the finals at the same time helped Keenan do anything. It was just a coincidence that the Knicks and Rangers were in the finals a few years later. Zagalejo^^^ 08:25, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What, exactly, is the source you are citing, anyway? A television show? Zagalejo^^^ 08:32, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I still don't understand why that is significant. It seems that all you're saying is that Keenan knew that New Yorkers would be excited about having two teams playing for championships. Is there anything more to this? Zagalejo^^^ 19:52, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And I don't see why the Blackhawks are at all relevant to the article on Phil Jackson. We don't have to mention the 1992 Blackhawks in every article associated with the 1992 Bulls. Zagalejo^^^ 20:00, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But none of that stuff about hockey really benefits readers who are specifically interested in Phil Jackson. One could connect Phil Jackson to all kinds of topics, but you can't include every possible fact about him in the article. If you do, the article will be impossible to sit through, because of all the digressions. Zagalejo^^^ 04:33, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I also see that you've started editing the Houston Rockets pages. Unfortunately, it appears that you are misrepresenting the Blinebury article from the Houston Chronicle. I can access it through ProQuest. The only person to provide a quote about the Rangers is Carroll Dawson, and he doesn't even say that the players watched the game, just that they saw the parade. Zagalejo^^^ 04:39, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Here, I'll quote the passage:
"One of the things that has been overlooked through the years is that while we were in New York to play the Knicks, the Rangers won the Stanley Cup," Dawson said. "Our players got to see firsthand how a city could just go crazy. They watched the parade. It was like an assist from New York. I think it helped our guys want it more."
That's all it says. Zagalejo^^^ 05:01, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Spring of '94[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Spring of '94, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Opinion piece, albeit short.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). I was wondering if you could add your expertise to my new article. Thanks!--Levineps (talk) 05:17, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Seventh Heaven (sports)[edit]

Please do not put in irrelevant things[edit]

Please do not put stuff about the Rangers and Knicks into Houston Rockets articles. It has nothing to do with the team. Thank you. Noble Story (talkcontributions) 01:04, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am aware of that. But it has nothing to do with the Rockets. Put that in the NY teams articles, and keep them there. Surely you can see that? Noble Story (talkcontributions) 01:30, 6 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please also stop putting irrelevant, argumentative, and narrative opinions in the Yankees WP article. You refuse to engage in any discourse and continuously re-insert edits which do not really belong. Even if these edits are borderline, which they are not, this article chronicles a 100 plus year history of the team and for the sake of conciseness irrelevant and boderline inclusions do not belong in this or any other article. Once again, I point out that your user page is full of comments like mine. Please stop. Thanks. 02:32, 13 April 2009 (UTC)tjrover

Would you mind to stop? This has been discussed innumerable times, why are you still putting it in the articles? Noble Story (talkcontributions) 07:23, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are doing this to the N.Y. Ranger article also. Detail about Phil Jackson and the Chicago Bulls/and New York Knicks. are irrelevant to the N.Y. Rangers. Also put a citation warning that the CBC call of the rangers wining the cup is the most memorable. Edkollin (talk) 08:33, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

April 2009[edit]

Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of previously published material to our articles as you apparently did to Hakeem Olajuwon. Please cite a reliable source for all of your information. Thank you. Your addition is also more appropriate in a Knicks article, not the Rockets or any of the Rockets players that beat the Knicks that year. Morbidthoughts (talk) 03:08, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sterling call[edit]

Sterling starts the call with "Here's Aaron Boone to lead off." Steiner takes over with "His first at bat of the game, there's a fly ball deep to left..." I just watched the tape to keep my sanity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KillYourselfNow (talkcontribs) 05:25, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Murphy[edit]

Why did you remove the #Bleacher Bums suffix from the Chicago Cubs link in this articale? How does that improve anything? --DAW0001 (talk) 12:06, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
