Disambiguation link notification for February 26[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Paddy Roy Bates, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Michael Bates. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Dissolution of Parliament[edit]

Hi, I see you are updating articles of people who were MSPs prior to the dissolution of Scottish Parliament. When Parliament goes into dissolution there are technically no MSPs, but at the same time the posts are not vacant. There was a recent relevant discussion about MPs: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Politics of the United Kingdom/Archive 5#term end for MPs - Dissolution of Parliament. Wikipedia doesn't have a good mechanism to accommodate periods of dissolution. As far as I can discern, the convention has been to treat re-elected officials as if they had served continuously (and this gets a bit tricky with some people switching from constituencies to regional seats, for example). Removing the honorific suffix of MSP during a period of dissolution appears to be an accepted practice. I would however suggest avoiding straying into adding a term end into the Infobox or suggesting the position is vacant, for those MSPs who have resubmitted themselves for election, until the outcome of the vote is known.
