Yep, Winter 1981, about six months before he passed away. Took it right when ARCO shut down Anaconda. Oh yeah, did he feel the proof was in the pudding? Oh my... Your bio looks fine, much better than what was there. but now I can't remember if I took his class fall of 1980 or winter of 1981, but it was cold outside, I remember that much(!)...Maybe we were in the same class (along with 1000 other people!)...was it when ARCO started shutting down Anaconda that you were there? All I know is that was in the UT, I think the next time he did the class, it was the videotaped one, the last he taught. Now, here's the question, what WAS the incident where Hugo Aronson (the "galloping Swede") accused Toole of "starting dat riot?" I thought it was a labor thing, not student protest, I remember reading something about it in the Missoulian around the time he died...Montanabw 20:48, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

I bet you and I were in the same class! (I was the quiet kid up in the balcony ... *g*) If I remember right, Toole didn't teach that last winter quarter, because he was in Helena molesting the Legislature ... the spring quarter class was the one that was videotaped. And I remember hearing the news one day about Anaconda shutting down, and thinking that K. Ross was going to have something to say about that ... and when I went to class, of course he did! It's amazing how that one class was THE common element for an entire decade of UM students -- everyone took it, and everyone remembers it.

I don't know the story with Aronson at all, but I do know a couple of historians I can ask ... I'll get back to you if I find anything out. Pitamakan 05:31, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

I've been doing some Wiki stuff on other closed colleges, so I drove by the campus last week when I was in town ... and when I saw the "For Sale" sign I knew a photo was mandatory! Albion State Normal School campus

I've been watching closely to see what happens with the old campus in Albion. I noticed in your last edit to the article, you mention that the buyers' intention to preserve the buildings is somewhat questionable now. Heh ... well, I'll be the first to admit that while my source is reliable, it's not Wikipedia-worthy: I was in Albion a couple of weeks ago, and talked to the director of the little alumni museum that occupies one of the campus buildings. She's very concerned about the place -- apparently the purchasers don't have the financial backing that they claimed, and the possibility has surfaced that at least some of the buildings might be razed for their brick. The Albion city council was supposed to have met early this month to discuss the issue. I've been meaning to do some research to improve my source and find out the latest, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. I also need to add a photo or two of the campus to the Wikipedia article.

As I'm sure you know, the campus is a very cool old place ... it would be a real tragedy to see any of it go. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Pitamakan 15:10, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

I have the number for one of the guys who bought the campus. I asked him about the rumors. He said that all the rumors are false. They aren't bankrupt, they were able to come up with the money, and they're not planning on knocking any buildings down. And I believe him. He seems like a pretty open, honest person. So... that's a relief, eh?

I live pretty close to the campus. Maybe I'll run by there sometime soon and get some photos to post. Pilby 02:38, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Good work on ghost town articles

I noticed your new articles on Linwood, Utah, Terrace, Utah, and Delano, Nevada, then I found some you did last year on ghost towns in Montana. Well done! Have you considered signing up at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ghost towns? The project's still small, but I think it's gaining momentum. Your expertise and interest would be very welcome. Thanks for the good words. I've had fun starting a number of ghost town articles here, though none are near the quality of those you've created. Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to The Wicker Man: You may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you're listed as a Wikipedian in Montana. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Montana State University - Bozeman, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

I am so grateful for finding some info about Northwest Airlines Flight 2 in which my grandfather died. I have a trove of letters and material from my grandmother, thinking seriously of writing something book-length that puts the crash victims in historical perspective. You're in Bozeman?
