linking articles[edit]

RE your edit summary [1]: ''saturated steam'' just put the title in italics, like this saturated steam. To actually link the title you need to use [[saturated steam]] like this saturated steam. Meters (talk) 17:41, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I see from a later edit that you know how to link articles. I don't know what you meant by your summary, but that should definitively have been a link. And please read WP:MINOR Meters (talk) 17:46, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Meters, I chose italics to add emphasis. Saturated steam is a common term in engineering, though it doesn't have to be used to describe steam at VLE. That term wouldn't necessarily link anywhere, since its just a more conditionally specific way to refer to "steam". If it "should definitively have been a link" can you give me an idea of where it ought to point? (Just as a note, and I'm sure you already realize this, but... your suggested target is a redirect to super-heated steam, which is definitely not saturated steam and references to saturated steam certainly shouldn't primarily point there. It really doesn't make sense to send a user to a page about a somewhat unusual variant of steam to read about saturated steam... something I think you probably agree with since you left this edit summary regarding a change I made[2]). PedanticLlama (talk) 18:40, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Don't add emphasis. Of course I know where the link I added points. I don't add links without checking to see if they exist and that the subject is what I think it is. The link I added is just fine. It is a bookmark to the specific section of superheated steam that describes saturated steam. Until we have an article on saturated steam (if we ever do) that is the best target. You know that, You have used the same target yourself. I'm not interested in arguing for the sake of arguing.
And there is no point in giving an initialism that is not used in the article. Meters (talk) 19:39, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
But we do have an article about saturated steam... It's called steam, thus my point that linking to superheated steam to reference saturated steam from a page talking about saturated steam really doesn't make sense and is indeed circular. I actually started making edits on both pages for this very reason. I'm going to have to ask for a bit of help on how to adjust the redirects after I finish tweaking the articles, though I'm taking from your tone that I'll need to peek around elsewhere for a helping hand. All the best, though! PedanticLlama (talk) 19:59, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy to help improve articles, but I don't need the snide comments. You're not going to get far on Wikipedia trying to make points that way. Meters (talk) 20:12, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I literally just started editing here. You haven't offered anything constructive, and frankly have taken an inexplicably hostile tone on this page toward well meaning (although likely imperfect) edits. I know I have a lot to learn, but something in the way we're interacting is obviously not meshing here, so if you don't mind just letting me be let's try that.
