That is a very good question. I can see how {{tv-prog-stub}} wouldn't fit, but you are correct in noting that there isn't a {{DVD-stub}} or anything like that. What about {{animation-stub}} since it's an animated show? I hope that helps. ~ Amalas rawr =^_^= 21:11, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm, i guess that the animation stub is a better choice than the tv prog in this case.. but somebody is gonna have to get on creating a stub category for dvd shows cause there is gonna be a lot of them released in the next few years, i heard that the new futurama season is gonna be released directly to dvd as well.. if you know the procedures for creating a new stub category then you should see what you can do about it. -- PASSIVE (Talk|E-Mail) 21:23, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Arabic writing lessons[edit]

Hello,

I saw your name in the list of Arabic-speaking volunteer translators and I wondered whether you'd help me create lessons teaching people how to read the Arabic script on Wikibooks. You don't have to invest much time, just adding a few words to the list at [1] will already help a lot. Thank you and good luck with your work on Wikipedia!

Junesun 15:56, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i don't think i fully understood this, am i just supposed to just add any names in arabic and their english equivalent without having anything in common between those names? --PASSIVE (Talk|E-Mail) 16:41, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, just add words and names that are similar, things that people could recognise without having studied Arabic. For example it is very obvious that إيران means Iran if you can recognise the letters. The Arabic name for Germany is not at all obvious and not recognizable to somebody who hasn't studied Arabic. Junesun 16:57, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Cliff Robertson at the premiere of Spider-Man 2.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cliff Robertson at the premiere of Spider-Man 2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 12:05, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

that's been taken care of --PASSIVE (Talk|E-Mail) 12:07, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image[edit]

That's because CyberGhostface created all those images and he is becoming notorious for being very slack on copyright information. Check his Talk page, it's loaded with Bot warnings about images. I don't know if he's aware that you have to note the fact that the image contains a copyrighted logo. Bignole 22:50, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try to add a line in those image's summaries mentioning its copyrights, i've got nothing better to do today.. --PASSIVE (Talk|E-Mail) 08:48, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your revert[edit]

I notice you had the audacity to revert me without giving a reason in your summary, would you care to explain? Automated tools should not be used in good faith edits. thanks/MatthewFenton (talkcontribs) 11:32, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please use the upload a new file feature. Some guidelines for the main image are plainly avilable on the page which have been put there to prevent these situations. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 15:45, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

if you were talkin about mentioning that i took the capture myself then why didn't you just say so!?--PASSIVE (Talk|E-Mail) 17:18, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Because im not guessing. Your image still requires a FUR and its common courtesy to use the upload a new file feature when replacing images; if they need replacing.. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 17:27, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
what are you talking about? i did use the upload new file feature. i can't overwrite a jpeg with a png! the other image still does exist.. --PASSIVE (Talk|E-Mail) 17:33, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm saying the image didnt require replacing. You also neglected to include a fair use rationale. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 17:49, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Natalie Portman revert[edit]

Please don't revert back the unsourced images. I've also you noticed you added a "fake" image source for this photo: [Npleon1.jpg‎ ]

That's completely against the [Fair Use policy]. Do that again I will report you. Thank you. ResurgamII 01:00, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

this is not a fake source, it is a screenshot of the movie, most probably the dvd. isn't that obvious!?--PASSIVE (Talk|E-Mail) 01:04, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't blur out somebody's name on an image. If the person wants their full name to be on the image let them. If they didn't intend their name to be on the image then they would of edited it out themself. Image tagging for Image:Notepad.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Notepad.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Unspecified source for Image:Jill Gascoine.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Jill Gascoine.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Hi, thanks for providing a source. However, the site you mentioned is a wikipedia mirror. So that's not correct. It looks like quite an old version of the datedump, so I assume the mirror copied the file from wikipedia and we still don't know the source. Also, apologies for the standard message. I thought the image was uploaded a few days ago instead of one year ago. Garion96 (talk) 00:15, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
whoops! i knew i found it through google images so i thought i'd try searching for it again and that was what i found as a best fit.. anyway, i can't seem to relocate the source of the image so maybe you should just delete it and i'll upload another one with a known source.. --PASSIVE (Talk|E-Mail) 00:39, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, the unsourced tag is again on the image, so it will be deleted eventually by an admin. Cheers, Garion96 (talk) 16:55, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reasons:
Hopelessly POV. Does not apply to this user in any way, shape, or form; utterly redundant.

Suggestions:

Should be replaced immediately by

Proposed by:
someone who doesn't hate you!.

Supported by: Everyone at Esperanza!

hello! my name is manista and I am a student in jakarta indonesia. my campus is building a new musholla and we are still looking for a name. since my campus is a dental school, I think it might be good to name the musholla in the same nuance. so, would you help me? what is the arabic word for dental? so, it will be like : al-(dental). thanks before. --manista

hi. first of all, a musholla is like a mosque for praying, right? and if it is, i don't know how it should be named, but i can tell that there's no one word in arabic for dental (no, it's not al-dental, LOL). it's expressed in arabic in two words meaning "teeth medicine" "teb asnan=طب اسنان".. i hope that helped.. --PASSIVE (Talk|E-Mail) 18:39, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

wikEd[edit]

The wikEdlogo
The wikEdlogo

Hi, I have seen that you are using the Cacycle editor extension. This program is no longer actively maintained in favor of its much more powerful successor wikEd.

wikEd has all the functionality of the old editor plus: • syntax highlighting • nifty image buttons • more fixing buttons • paste formatted text from Word or web pages • convert the formatted text into wikicode • adjust the font size • and much, much more.

Switching to wikEd is easy, check the detailed installation description on its project homepage. Often it is as simple as changing every occurrence of editor.js into wikEd.js on your User:YourUsername/monobook.js page.

Fair use rationale for Image:Windows Live (Jewel).png[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Windows Live (Jewel).png. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks for uploading Image:Natalie Cole.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria.
