Fair use rationale for File:MirabellaCupLogo.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:MirabellaCupLogo.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 02:33, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:VPL map.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:VPL map.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 11:05, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:VPL map.png[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:VPL map.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:56, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ballarat North United Soccer Club requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. WWGB (talk) 12:56, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:BNUSClogo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. I have removed File:MirabellaCupLogo.png from 2011 Mirabella Cup because it does not have a valid non-free media use rationale for the article. Proposed deletion of Chris Ikonomidis[edit]

The article Chris Ikonomidis has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Sir Sputnik (talk) 06:29, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Chris Ikonomidis for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Chris Ikonomidis is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chris Ikonomidis until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Sir Sputnik (talk) 07:07, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, regarding your revert of my change:

  • I am not aware of a rule prescribing English-language citations. But you will find that by convention and common sense (why should we send readers of the English Wikipedia to websites they can't read?) English-language citations are preferred.
  • Also by convention, third-party sources (newspapers etc.) are preferred to sources of involved parties (player's agent, player's club etc.).
  • "two-year deal" is factually incorrect. He signed for three years, from 2017 until 2020.
  • By convention, piping (see WP:PIPE) is used in the infobox. Hence, I have shortened "SV Darmstadt 98" to "Darmstadt 98" as it is commonly done.
  • Contrary to what you implied in your edit summary, I did not add a shirt number.

For above reasons, I will now reinstate the changes. If you think, there is something wrong enough about them to warrant a revert, please contact my on my Talk page before reverting. Robby.is.on (talk) 11:00, 19 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for taking the time to reply. :-) I have a preference for wording from the perspective of the article's subject ("player signed…") but I see your point. While the announcement was made on the date given, the signing of the contract may have happened at another time. Feel free to change the wording back. :-) Robby.is.on (talk) 11:25, 19 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox dates[edit]

Hi, when updating infobox stats you should update the |club-update= or |pcupdate= parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update= or |ntupdate= parameter for international stats, by adding five tildes (~~~~~), which generates the specific time the update was made. I do not believe that any consensus was ever reached on the naming convention, and have no intention of following your instructions. Paladisious (talk) 03:56, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't come here for a fight, nor for a debate. (That occured long ago.) I came with advice. I also recommend that you learn how to indent comments on Talk pages. HiLo48 (talk) 04:06, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This is not a fight, or a debate. I'll continue using appropriate language in my contributions based on a common sense interpretation of wikipedia policy. Paladisious (talk) 04:34, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It simply would not be common sense to ignore WP:NCFIA. That will only lead to conflict. HiLo48 (talk) 04:42, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The policy you've cited here only applies to article titles. Paladisious (talk) 04:58, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No. To quote - "The following is a guideline for use...in Australian articles". HiLo48 (talk) 05:28, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Let's keep this civil, please. To quote the text immediately preceding your quote: "Due to the large variety of codes of football played in Australia, conflicts sometimes arise when naming articles." The definition of a Naming Convention at WP:NC makes this even more clear.Paladisious (talk) 05:48, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm. I see your point. The next sentence seems to contradict that somewhat. I'm pretty sure the intention was to make usage uniform in both titles and content of articles. Things could get pretty messy otherwise. You have every right to go to the Talk page of WP:NCFIA to point out the confusion, and your interpretation. HiLo48 (talk) 05:55, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
WP:NC is very clear that its purpose is for clarity in article titles, but if it will help the community to have that pointed out I'm glad to help out. Paladisious (talk) 06:40, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved Dylan Ryan to draft space. You have not provided any sources on that article and that makes it very weak and prone to deletion. You really should read-up on WP:NFOOTBALL what makes a player qualify for an article. Govvy (talk) 12:03, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
