Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Oregon Coast Forester. Thank you for the notification. I compete in hunting dog competitions but have no conflict of interest with North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association. I hold no office and have no financial gain connected to this non-profit. Rather, I was including this NA dog association similar to the American Kennel Club. Can you clarify if you thought text that I was including was creating a sense of conflict of interest? I would offer that many of the dog breed pages promote standards and breed associations, and this one promotes standards for testing 30 different dog breeds. I was using other pages as a guide for this one, and I am not sure where it appeared that I had a conflict of interest. Thank you. Oregon Coast Forester (talk) 03:31, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well, this edit is obviously promotional, with its "oldest, largest, and most successful" stuff sourced to the organization's own website. Drmies (talk) 12:22, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I can see that I borrowed too directly from the website. I appreciate the note. It was not my intention to promote and rather me being unaware of the bias and naively borrowing self-promotion text from the org website. I will say that AKC page states similar promotion of "The AKC is the largest registry of purebred dogs in the U.S. and is the only not-for profit registry, as well as the most well-known and the most influential." I guess I wasn't sure where the line was for promotion unless it is the source being 3rd party vs. the org website. Thank you again. Oregon Coast Forester (talk) 04:56, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
