RE:FLC

The main points I can bring up is that the list needs to be converted into a table format to show the films filmed in each location. Which will then require referencing to verify all those locations (reliable ones of course). Then the lead has to be expanded to reflect the table/list itself.--TRUCO 02:13, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

I answered your question. Leave a note at my talk if you have any more questions. I am very active at FLC, so hopefully I can help you out. Regards, Dabomb87 (talk) 22:54, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

I agree with you. I have no qualms with the quote from AA literature. And i dont dissagree with you about the general feelign of "non alcoholic drug addcits" attending closed aa meetings and feeling unwelcomed. On a opinion level even, I think its lame of AA to be like that. In fact had the section read soemthing like: in AA meetings drug addicts are often made to feel unwelcomed and drug talk is discouraged as being an "outside isse" I would have had to agree. But on a factual wiki level, i think the verbage is skewed to paint a negative picture of AA.

At any rate, now what? The original verbage is still up and the mediation request seems to have dissapeared. What do i do if I re apply my edit and it is changed back? Is there anything to be done?

thansk for your reply moshe

The mediation case is still open and active at this link. The request was just moved to the talk page. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 01:04, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Hello

Hi OlEnglish,

Thanks for welcoming me to wikipedia. I enjoy writing articles but i think wikipedia's interface is a bit confussing. Same with the codes used to create articles although i am a web designer/computer geek.

On the subject of my article Prime Minister (rapper), i would add my sources (& yours) if i could figure out how. I've only been on Wikipedia for 3-4 days now. I you could explain/help to me how to add sources for my articles i would much appreciate it. Just leave it on my talk page[2].

Thanks Cityscape4 (talk) 16:14, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi! Yes Wikipedia has a bit of a steep learning curve but it doesn't take long to learn the basics and once you get into it it's very rewarding, and addictive! I started out by just reading many articles and studying their layout, fixing up minor errors like typos and grammar as I go.
Ok first try clicking on the links included with the welcome message, including the tutorial. Then read Wikipedia:Citing sources, this is very important. Also very important is Wikipedia:Five pillars. After you have read these, if you still need further help, leave {{helpme}} on your talk page and I or someone else will come along and help. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 18:13, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Sources

Well i tried to add sources to my Prime Minister (rapper) article. For some reason it still says "This article does not cite any references or sources. Please help improve this article by adding citations to reliable sources" at the top of page.

Anyway, i'd like to know what you think about the sources i've added to it. If you think their good i'll add a few more.

Cityscape4 (talk) 20:34, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

They're fine, keep it up. I removed the tag. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 20:36, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Thank you for the message and for welcoming me to Wikipedia. I most definetely plan on staying. I checked out your page. I really like it. So are you a Christian? Because, I noticed a Christian group thing on your page. I've been a Christian for about 8 years now. Since, September 15, 2000. Just curious. How can I make my own page? I really still don't know much about this stuff yet, and I don't actually know what I can do on it. So, I would really appreciate it if you could please help me out. Again thanks.

Keri Marie Davis (talk) 14:39, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Sure I'll be happy to help you. My best advice at first would be to read the links provided in your welcome message, they are very important, also be sure to read Wikipedia:Simplified ruleset. You can also get someone to mentor you, you'd probably benefit from Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User so be sure to check that out.

For help on creating your own userpage you can check out Wikipedia:User Page Design Center.
And yes I'm a Christian though I'm not "religious", but rather "spiritual", there's a big difference and I think it's important for me to make that distinction. I also enjoy studying the Bible. :)

Hi, and thanks for your warm welcome. I'm glad to be a contributor to this massive (and very useful) project. By the way, I didn't want to add a "Thanks3" to your talk page, so I've decided to write under this section. See you around. -- Hyandrew (talk) 09:33, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Hehe, alright. Glad you're on board. See ya. :) -- OlEnglish (Talk) 18:43, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Hey can u help me out I have a problem with guys right now. He already has a girlfriend and hes been flirting with me for a week and now he hes ignoring me. I don't know what to do, because I have fallen in love with him 3 times. Keri Marie Davis (talk) 19:42, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Uhm, sorry I'm not a counsellor.. Wikipedia isn't really the best place to ask about this sort of thing. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 19:45, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey, sorry about that. It was just that no one was on Facebook and I needed to talk to someone. I'm really sorry about that I wasn't thinking at all. By the way, how can I also talk to other people? I was wondering about that. Keri Marie Davis (talk) 12:47, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Oh no problem! And you can talk to other people the same way you're talking to me, by posting a message on their talk page, like you just did to mine. There's also Wikipedia:IRC channels if you meant live chat. There's also a page of pictures of users at Wikipedia:Facebook. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 22:37, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Ho Fuk Yan

Sorry about that last exchange. I was a bit quick to jump into an arguement.

I looked up the guy's name, and apparently he is a real person. He has a Chinese wiki page: http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%BD%95%E7%A6%8F%E4%BB%81

His Chinese name is 何福仁 . My Chinese isn't perfect, but I think that is pronounced He Furen in Mandarin. This guy is from Hong Kong, so Ho Fukyan is a Cantonese pronunciation. And I think "Ho Fukyan" is probably the correct way to transliterate his name into English, not Ho Fuk Yan." But I may be wrong. I found a website with a photo of him:

http://paper.wenweipo.com/2008/05/12/BK0805120003.htm

I don't know how prominent he is though. There are a lot of Chinese sure names that look like slang in English, such as Ho written in the Wade Giles system, and Wang and Tang from the Pin Yin system, so it can be a bit confusing. David Straub (talk) 18:45, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Thank you! I forwarded this to the article's talk page, hope you don't mind. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 02:40, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey thanks

Hey,

Thanks. So are you on Facebook? I got mine Dec. 26, 2008 and I already have like 55 to 56 people on it. Where in Canada do you live? I live in Owego NY and I go to Candor Jr./Sr. High School. I'm having some problems trying to create my home page. I really really like Wikipedia. Keri Marie Davis (talk) 13:07, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

That's great that you really like Wikipedia. Check out WP:User page design center for help on creating your userpage. Yup I'm on Facebook too and I live in Metro Vancouver, Canada. What grade are you in?
i'm in 10th grade Keri Marie Davis (talk) 19:24, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey having problems

Hey, I'm having problems trying to talk to other people. I was trying to somehow leave a message to User:Ktr101 but it wasn't working. So could you help me out please? Thanks. Keri Marie Davis (talk) 14:46, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

What exactly is the problem? If you are able to leave me a message then you should be able to leave one for User:Ktr101 too exactly the same way. At his talk page, try to click on the "edit" button on the top of the page, then type in your message. If you still have problems you'll have to be more specific as to what is wrong. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 18:18, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey, What is your name so that I can request you on Facebook. I requested a Notjake13 already. By the way thanks. It worked I left a message at Kevin's talk page thanks again. I'm still having problems trying to set up my home page. I can't get it to work all it tells me is information about it but not how I can actually set it up. Yeah, normally I use Firefox too. I just happen to be using Internet Explorer right now because I'm not at my regular computer. :) -- OlEnglish (Talk) 22:16, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Also, an image that I added to Wikipedia:Edit war is pushing the edit link to the left. Can you fix that as well? -- IRP 22:19, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, I don't see it doing that on my end. There's not normally an edit button for the lead paragraph either.. I think there's a user preferences setting for that, to be able to edit the lead as its own separate section but I'm not sure. It's possible to either move the image down to a lower section or even decrease the size using px -- OlEnglish (Talk) 22:29, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
The problem is not on the lead paragraph edit button (for most editors and readers; if a problem is present, it will only be visible to people who have the the "Add an [edit] link for the lead section of a page" option enabled in their preferences. The problem that I see is that the image is pushing the edit link of the "What is edit warring?" section to the left. -- IRP 22:38, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Once again, that's not happening on my end.. Is maybe because your TOC box is collapsed? I tried to reduce the image size, hope that helps. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 22:55, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Yes, it did help. -- IRP 23:54, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Hey Keri. It depends what things.
I really would like to help you but I'm not going to give you step-by-step instructions for every simple task that you can easily figure out yourself by experimenting on your own, using the Wikipedia:Sandbox, and reading the Wikipedia:Tutorial. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 22:15, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I've gotten my usepage already started. I've got some userboxes as well. Keri Marie Davis (talk) 15:28, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

That's great Keri. So, I'm curious, what contributions are you planning on making to our awesome encyclopedia? :) -- OlEnglish (Talk) 22:33, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I don't know what kind of contributions I would make to the awesome encyclopedia. Any suggestions? Keri Marie Davis (talk) 12:47, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Random pages is a good place to look up random articles... look up something you know and like, see if anything seems wrong and check if it's wrong from official sources. Kausill (talk) 13:26, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Hey, Do you have any suggestions as to what kind of contributions I could make to Wikipedia? Keri Marie Davis (talk) 14:34, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

I don't know.. why did you create an account if you don't have an idea as to how you could contribute? -- 207.81.98.27 (talk) 14:44, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Um, can u check out my talk page please and tell me what u think so far about my article on Positive/Negative Relationships even tho i havent actually quite finished it yet tho? it would help me out a lot so could u please? thanks. Keri Marie Davis (talk) 12:15, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

It's a good essay Keri, but it's not an article, and unfortunately will have to remain in your userspace. Please read point #3 at this link: WP:NOT#OR. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 19:03, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

So, how do I not make it so personal? so u really do think that i could be a coulmnist. a lot of people like my writing and say that i was made to be a writer. Keri Marie Davis (talk) 12:32, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

It's probably not a good idea to post so much personal information about yourself. Please remember this is an encyclopedia, not a blog or social networking site. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 00:55, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

so how do i minimize the personal experience? any suggestions on topics that i could do Keri Marie Davis (talk) 15:51, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

re:Hey there

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, I've seen that page—it's all too true! — Deckiller 22:56, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

I disagree that it is helpful for readers to come across an article that is full of urban myths, general speculation and gross stereotypes. The article had been tagged as needing sources since 2006 - I think that is plenty of time for any project to have done something about sourcing any legitimate content if they were going to. -- The Red Pen of Doom 11:32, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Holiday greetings

Why did you add the "disambiguation needed" tag at the top of holiday greetings? What do you want done exactly, because the thing that tag normally is for is to tag a link that shouldn't be to a disambiguation page, but in this case all those links are in a hatnote and therefore should be to the disambiguation pages. LonelyMarble (talk) 18:19, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Well, I thought it needed a separate disambiguation page because of all the hatnote links and that tag places it in Category:Articles with links needing disambiguation so I guess I was just trying to draw attention to it that way so someone will disambig it, but now I just seen you already tried fixing that up, so yes I was misusing the tag and I undid myself. Sorry for that bit of impulsive drive-by tagging. I'm off to a bad start this morning. :) -- OlEnglish (Talk) 18:53, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

unref'd book description

Hi. You tagged the short entry on The Timothy Files as lacking a ref. Since all I have written there is the book's author, date and a short description of the content, I don't know what sort of ref You're looking for. Book and movie descriptions or plot summaries are not, as far as I know, ref'd in Wik. Kdammers (talk) 05:15, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

I just try to go by Wikipedia's Verifiability policy, in that every article should have at least one reference. In this case it could be anything that would make a claim of notability to establish it's importance and why it deserves it's own separate encyclopedia article. This could be just a simple book review from a reliable source. But you know what? It'll probably be better to just tag this with a stub template. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 05:22, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

I did make that mistake. My apologies. It was a hangover from an earlier discussion about where to place the inter-wikiproject links; one in which it now appears I was actually right in the first place! I still should've read WP:ALSO more closely, though. This now means, however, that I'm going to have to go and undo on about 15 articles the undoing I earlier did of my initially correct doing. *Sigh* Such is life on the 'pedia. ;) --Miesianiacal (talk) 15:44, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

My RfA

Thank you for participating in my "RecFA", which passed with a final tally of 153/39/22. There were issues raised regarding my adminship that I intend to cogitate upon, but I am grateful for the very many supportive comments I received and for the efforts of certain editors (Ceoil, Noroton and Lar especially) in responding to some issues. I wish to note how humbled I was when I read Buster7's support comment, although a fair majority gave me great pleasure. I would also note those whose opposes or neutral were based in process concerns and who otherwise commented kindly in regard to my record.
I recognise that the process itself was unusual, and the format was generally considered questionable - and I accept that I was mistaken in my perception of how it would be received - but I am particularly grateful for those whose opposes and neutrals were based in perceptions of how I was not performing to the standards expected of an administrator. As much as the support I received, those comments are hopefully going to allow me to be a better contributor to the project. Thank you. Very much. LessHeard vanU (talk) 22:04, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
