Demographics of Egypt

Hello Octane- You recently changed the name of this article to Demography of Egypt without discussion. However, the convention on Wikipedia for all countries is "Demographics of....", and the recent name change might make it more difficult to locate. Unless there is a Wikipedia-wide change on all articles, the name should stay the same as all others. — Zerida 22:15, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

It looks to me like there was some disagreement in that discussion on the definition of 'demographics.' But while it might make sense to change it, until there is a Wikipedia-wide change to the suggested new name, I think the articles should be consistent with another. I reverted it for now. Thanks for your help. — Zerida 22:45, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Sure, that sounds good to me. — Zerida 22:51, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Hepzibah1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Hepzibah1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:17, 8 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 10:17, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Joshua A. Norton

What I mentioned last week to you: Joshua A. Norton, Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico. Nyttend 21:42, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your note, but I can't find the link! I've never seen 'U.S. Armed Forces' like that, nearest being 'Unified Action Armed Forces' on a Joint Chiefs of Staff manual. Personally I think it should, along with the no-doubt-existing 'Military of the United States' page, redirect to the U.S. Department of Defense. Cheers Buckshot06 18:07, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Quoting from an earlier Wikipedian: 'The United States Armed Forces consists of the regular and reserve components of the several armed forces. Properly, the United States Armed Forces consists of the United States Army (which is the Regular Army), the United States Army Reserve, the Army National Guard of the United States (which in turn consists of the National Guards of the several states which the Supreme Court has ruled in the past pre-date the existence of the ANGUS), the United States Navy (which is the Regular Navy), the United States Naval Reserve (or sometimes the Fleet Reserve), the United States Marine Corps, the United States Marine Corps Reserve (sometimes referred to as the Fleet Marine Reserve), the United States Air Force (which is the Regular Air Force), the United States Air Force Reserve, and the Air National Guard of the United States (composed of the Air National Guards of the several states). In times of emergency, add the regular and reserve Coast Guard components and stir. Failure to mention any of those components generally leads to inter-service meyham, especially in the presence of alcohol. The sources for this are scattered throughout United States Code Title 10. Hotfeba 03:25, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

The phrase "Army of the United States" has been used to refer to all regular and reserve components of the Army together. It may be out of date, but keeping that terminology in mind, it makes 10USC references to "the Army" consistently apply to all Army personnel, regular or reserve, while on active duty. Maybe this makes it easier to implement a draft. Hotfeba 03:25, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

There has been the phrase "armed forces of the United States" which seems to include everything in the above list (see 10USC113 around (i)(1)(A)), and then the phrase "United States Armed Forces" seems to be used to refer only to the regular components; however, the thrust of the article is to focus on the entire military establishment, not just the regular forces. Hotfeba 03:25, 7 April 2007 (UTC) Neither the Constitution of the United States of America, the United States Codes, nor the opinions of the United States Supreme Court make any reference to the "Military of the United States". Hotfeba 03:25, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Having searched through US Title 10 as per Hotfeba's advice, 'United States Armed Forces' is used on occasion in various amendments to refer to elements of the Department of Defence. US Title 10 is quite clear on the SecDef controlling the DOD, and nothing above the DOD being known as the 'United States Armed Forces'. US Armed Forces is used to describe elements of the DOD. Thus, the top-level page for the 'Military of the United States' etc, I believe, should be the Department of Defence. Buckshot06 18:25, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Let me try and be clearer: I think we should reduce 'United States Armed Forces' to a redirect to United States Department of Defense. This is because 'United States Armed Forces' is a not-fully defined, loose thing that appears, from looking at Title 10, not to be defined clearly anywhere except as being forces which fall under the DOD. Possible GFDL violation on user page

Please carefully examine your use of GFDL images, especially Image:WikiFurLogo.png, as {{click}}able links on your User page. See User:BanyanTree/Work/Image_links for details. Your usage seems to fall pretty firmly into the "maybe" category, so I will let you make the final determination of whether it's appropriate, rather than inject my own opinion here. Ahoy there

Hi there, Sean, sorry I haven't contacted you in a while and didn't make much fuss about the conworlds(they're nice though!). But if you read my Userpage you'll know that's changed. Anyway, tomorrow I get my Eagle Scout badge at 2.00 at the FUMC in Bellefontaine(hint, hint). Actually I was wondering if there was anything I could help with on articles and Such? I'm trying to contribute but my idea well is bone-dry. Anyway, how are you? SuperWikiman 23:41, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Looking for something to do? WikiProject Furry is improving articles on furry and anthropomorphic topics, and we'd like to have you on board.

Our current goal is to raise Anthrocon, furry convention and furry fandom to good article status and beyond - but if that doesn't take your fancy, there are plenty of other articles to work on. Give it a go and let us know how you're doing!

You received this one-time invitation because you are a Furry Wikipedian. GreenReaper 23:12, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Something else to do besides reverting vandalism

Look at Wikipedia:Notability (people): you'll see that state and national politicians are notable. You'll see, for example, that there are very few articles for Ohio state legislators and, indeed, plenty of missing articles for US congressmen and senators in the past century. There are plenty of sources, even some public domain ones that you could just copy/paste and wikify, to make new articles. Nyttend 23:48, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Cascading protection

Thanks for letting me know. I'll get right onto fixing that! IronGargoyle 00:25, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

I think I fixed the problem. I was worried about that happening, but I thought I'd caught all the transclusions. Thanks for catching that one. IronGargoyle 00:45, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
