For your next mass-AfD

Please consolidate all the episodes/characters/whatevers into a single nomination. Thanks! --EEMIV (talk) 21:21, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

What is the source of that statement concerning SN? SITS?: [...] mostly comprised of old junkers and foreign ships that were too old to be of any more service in their respective navies. Other ships are ex-pirate and -privateer vessels whose crews have changed sides in the interest of more money. For this reason, it is hard to pin down a collection of ship classes in use by the SCN.--Dotz Holiday (talk) 16:05, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

AfD nominations

It might make your nominations on AfD a bit more clear if, instead of writing things like "no meaningful content", you were to make a statement based on Wikipedia policy when possible. This way, nobody will accuse you of having no reason for deletion. You can find a page on deletion policy at WP:DELETE; a very commonly used one which you probably could have used in the recent debates on television episodes is WP:N. Thank you for finding these silly articles and taking the time to nominate them! --Falcon Darkstar Kirtaran (talk) 01:57, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

  • As they were, each one was basically a stub, or perhaps a sub-stub. It's a lot better to state that something shouldn't be included by policy than it is to state that a stub is a blank page, in essence. If the material is duplicated elsewhere (as it was; some of it was cut and pasted!) this is good to cite in the AfD; I often see this and it definitely contributes, especially where the desired outcome is merge/redirect. Also, these might have been a good candidate for a multi-article AfD as they were almost exactly the same. --Falcon Darkstar Kirtaran (talk) 05:56, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!
