Help requested for edits to Charles Recher's bio page[edit]

Hello! Wikipedians, please excuse my naiveté about Wikipedia customs and formatting. I am looking for help with the article for Charles Recher that I edited some time ago. I have come back to it recently and see that it still has the headings/warnings about notabiity and orphan status. As for notability, I have added many links and references to Charles Recher's exhibits and works; so could someone either remove this heading about notability, or else advise me about what else is needed for this article?

As for the orphan status, today I researched several other articles and linked them to this article, in addition to adding a few more categories at the bottom. Please let me know if these are adequate to remove the orphan status. Also, any suggestions for additional links are welcome. Nmandowa (talk) 02:45, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, GorillaWarfare, for removing the orphan status from the article heading. I see the notability warning is still there and need advice as to what may still need to be done to have that removed. I've seen bio articles of other artists that appear to have the same or fewer numbers of references and yet do not have this type of warning. Is there a need for even more web or other references, or is this just a matter of a knowledgeable Wikipedia contributor having the time to more thoroughly review my entries? If you look at the page history, you'll see it was actually not me, but User:Kelapstick who removed the orphan tag. As for notability... a lot of the sources you added don't really demonstrate significant coverage—they're very brief mentions of him, often in articles about other things. – GorillaWarfare (talk) 19:59, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up to refinements on Charles Recher's bio page 2/4/2014[edit]

Thank you, belatedly, Kelapstick, for removing the orphan status for Charles Recher's page. I'm still a relative novice here, and still not completely comfortable with the formatting and communication protocols. (Thank you, GorillaWarfare, for the clarification about removal of the orphan or other templates. Duh! I somehow didn't notice the correlation of the template entry with the full notice on the finished page and thought these were editable only by someone with higher privileges.)

As for the notability issue, please both note that today I removed that template as well. I have added and corrected a number of entries recently and from what I can see there are other pages on Wikipedia that have fewer third-party sourcing yet still do not have the questionable notability notice. On the other hand, I don't want to break any Wikipedia rules. So if either of you or anyone you might refer me to would like me to remove or edit any particular source reference, I will certainly revisit that entry and try to improve.

There are numerous other websites that show more of Charles Recher's actual films and videos, but I did not want to include those, since often they are part of another participating artist's portfolio as a collaborator (actor, editor, etc.) or as was mentioned, a passing reference in the context of a larger festival or event.

I think the very nature of the category of experimental artists can be difficult to provide detailed sources for every single piece of art, exhibit, or event. The nature of these events is often collaborative, as in a film festival, a large exhibit like Art Basel in Miami, and temporary, since the event, even large events, may have a review or announcement that becomes quickly archived on the web. Many of the artist's works are of this nature, but still I have included a number of significant awards and events that are referenced that received much press coverage at the time, along with references to major institutions and/or art venues.

This artist is well known particularly in South Florida and the Tampa area, and he exhibits and teaches nationally and internationally. The original page was what I think you call a "stub" or something like that, just a translation from a German entry, most likely resulting from a performance or event he participated in there. The translation was a little vague and inaccurate, so my subsequent edits have been an attempt to present a more comprehensive view of his work. Nmandowa (talk) 23:05, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
