Request reason:

Hi there, and long time no see. I've just rediscovered this old account of mine, and wanted to apologise for having been such an idiot when I was a child. I fully understand and comprehend that my reckless vandalism was completely inappropriate for Wikipedia. It was not warranted and was actively detrimental to the quality of the website, though I was too young to comprehend it at the time. I'm now very much an adult, far more mature, and - with your permission - would like to have this account unbanned. I recognise that I could simply create a fresh Wikipedia account for the sake of making positive contributions and edits, but wanted to take the time to properly own up and apologise for the idiocy of my youth. Accept reason:

Following the discussion below, I have unblocked your account. Welcome back. PhilKnight (talk) 10:12, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What edits do you want to make? PhilKnight (talk) 19:25, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Phil, nice to meet you, and thanks for reviewing this request. Being honest, I don't have any immediate edits that I would like to make, but would like the opportunity to contribute to Wikipedia through edits in future. Linguistics and philosophy are subjects of particular expertise. I recognise and respect that my ban is indefinite, but hope that thirteen years of growing up and maturing could be taken into account in this instance. As a follow-up suggestion, I'd be keen on creating an article regarding on Obsidian, a note-taking application based on markdown files, akin to Notion. Not before consulting the relevant editing guidelines first, of course. Napster964 (talk) 19:53, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

^And - whilst I'm at it - I'd quite like to remove the personal information from my user page. Beyond the GDPR concerns, it's also plain embarrassing. Good to reminisce on the glory days of MSN, though.

Thanks Napster964. I'll ping the blocking admin about an unblock. PhilKnight (talk) 15:11, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@AuburnPilot:- would you object to an unblock? PhilKnight (talk) 15:12, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Just as a quick note, I see the blocking admin hasn't edited in a couple months, so I don't know how soon they will reply. I think 13 years is plenty of time for a person to mature and come back to editing and I support an unblock for what it's worth. RickinBaltimore (talk) 20:18, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Good enough for me - I'll unblock. PhilKnight (talk) 10:12, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi both, thanks for this - I appreciate it. Given the aforementioned personal information and links to this username, I'll take advantage of Wikipedia's 'Clean Start' policy and will start afresh. Napster964 (talk) 19:21, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
