Deletion of Caldicott School[edit]

I would like to know why you deleted the page I created called Caldicott School.

I am a member of staff at the school and was creating the page specifically for the school. The content WAS from the prospectus but I had permission to use it.

The page was deleted with minutes of the copyright notice being put on there giving me no time to justify the content.

I have now wasted 2 hours of my day and wilol have to re do the page.

Please explain your actions and undo the deletion if you can.

Thanks

Thank you for your message. I will restructure the entry taking your comment into account. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Browsw (talkcontribs) 19:59, 6 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Hi, you recently proposed this for deletion, and to be honest I was waiting for the moment that it would be deleted.

Do you suggest any ideas i could do to make that page be keeped?

eg. add something slighty wikipedia related?

But I have a few questions first:

  1. How did you find out about it?
  2. Have you read it? if so, did you find it interesting?

I thought wikipedia had true facts... all of these sound like guesses from people on the internet. no proven facts other than the kelly fact (correct me if I'm wrong thought). only blog information??? no true information from reliable sources??? a bit nuts, don't u think? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Whatsagoon (talkcontribs).

Hi Mr. Stephen, thanks for your response.... I'm a new wikipedia user. Actually, not completely true... I ALWAYS use wiki to look up information, I actually find it to be pretty reliable and I think wiki rocks. I just recently heard (yesterday, actually) that it's actual users who populate the information & updates of all the definitions... which, in part is pretty cool, but however, how reliable is the information if it's only common users posting it? I heard of a Todd Goldman incident and I've been reading up on it the past few days.... most of my information I've gotten from blogs, you know, people just chatting & posting their opinions on message boards.. however I see very few factual information. It's almost like it's all HEARSAY. I decided to look up Todd Goldman in wikipedia to see what it said... although some of the information I've actually read in news articles in magazines before, I find that the most recent additions to the Todd Goldman page is pure hearsay (from blogs and such). The refencerce links (not all but most) are links to blogs and just people putting up pages with their versions of news events. I find this to be a bit confusing.... will wikipedia post any information users add? this doesn't make me feel like the info is reliable, it just sounds like gossip to me (just my opinion, pls let me know if I'm wrong). if you need me to be more specific I can show you which reference links seem a bit "weak" if u ask me... thanks for your time, I really have been reading up on this today.. didn't mean to screw anything up... just wanted to make sure true information is posted, and not the public's speculation... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Whatsagoon (talkcontribs).

Dear Mr Stephen,

This is Cariis1989. I've edited the Joaquin Phoenix article, and twice you've called my edits "vandalism". Clearly if you read the article, and external links, it states that Joaquin's birth name is "Joaquin Rafael Bottom". That's the only edit I made, changing his birth name to the correct one, meaning Phoenix to Bottom. I did nothing wrong, as you can see. I'm going to make the edit again, and expect you not to revert it. Have a nice day. Cariis1989 02:41, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sean Penn[edit]

Hi Mr Stephen, it's User:Cariis1989. You seem to know a lot more about Wikipedia than most people I know, so I was wondering if you could help me review a source claiming certain things in the Sean Penn article? I'm happy when anyone adds info to an article, but this time I do have a problem because the source seems to be unreliable. What User:Rito Revolto added just seems to make no sense whatsoever. It states that Elizabeth Melincoff and Maurice Daniel Penn are Sean Penn's grandparents. Later the article says that Piñon is the original Penn surname, but then that would mean than his grandfather at least should have carried the surname Piñon. I looked at the source and to tell you the truth it's just sloppy. I'd really like your feedback on this matter. I've even contacted User: Rito Revolto just in case I'm the one making the mistake. Hope to hear from you soon. Cariis1989 02:17, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply to the Sean Penn article, even though you were short on time and with other problems on your mind. Well, the whole thing still doesn't make sense to me. First, I agree that Piñon was changed on the arrival of Maurice to Ellis Island. The thing that still troubles me is that Piñon is Spanish, not Russian. So if Maurice, which by the way is not Russian either, is Russian as the article states, then why the Spanish surname? You can't really leave Russia, stop in Spain for dinner, and end up having a Spanish name when you arrive to the states. Is it just me who sees that something's wrong? I read a Sean Penn interview a while back, which I'm trying to find for you, but he even says that he's a mix of Irish, Italian, Russian, and Spanish. So, that Spanish blood is in there somewhere, also the Russian. The thing is though, you can't be originally from Russia with a Spanish last name. I don't know Mr Stephen, let's hope I figure this out soon because it's driving me crazy! Take care, and once again, thanks for trying to help. Cariis1989 21:53, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair Treatment - Lost Information - Really need some help[edit]

Dear Mr. Stephen:

Please see below for all referenced links.

Thank you in advance for helping me with this very frustrating problem - regarding Netafim Drip Irrigation Company.

I could just cry. Sure hope you can help me figure out what has gone wrong. I spent such a long time in December trying to get a business card page up for Netafim. I worked with you and begged others not to delete the page without giving me some reason or at least notifying me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:NetafimUSA

All we want is a page similiar to Rainbird http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rain_Bird. We're not even asking for something as elaborate as the Jain Irrigation page.

It doesn't seem fair that we've had to stuggle so much just to have a listing. Our company name is unusual and we believe a Wikipedia listing explaining that we are a drip irrigation company would be helpful to web users.

Is it possible that Jain Irrigation had our Netafim page deleted? Why should Jain Irrigation be allowed two listings http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jain_Irrigation_Systems and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jain_Irrigation_Systems and we can't even have a short one page.

If you find out who deleted us - can we report them to some kind of fairness commmittee?

I can't see any reference to the nice "uncommercial" Netafim page I made. Has this information been lost now? I've clicked back and forth and tried to read everything - but I can't find anything I posted in December.

I'm sorry to ask of your time - but I'm just lost.

Many, many thanks. NetafimUSA

Caldicott School[edit]

I read with interest your comments on the above site.

I've recently tried to add 2 external links to newspapers reporting matters which have travelled through the UK courts. These have been repeatedly removed by the author of the site for reasons which have no basis of fact or reason. Wiki rules appear to support my position.

I've today asked for RfC but am new to Wiki and experiencing challenges linking the request on the 'RfC index' back to the page on which the dispute arguments appear. For the timebeing therefore no request exists on the RfC page although it does on Cartitza talk. I read there is an alternative route to ask for 3rd party involvement.

Would you consider taking a look at this dispute as the 'third party,' as I feel the author of the site is mistaken in his argument. It appears to me this establishment do not wish facts to get in the way of reputation. --Cartitza 14:13, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Manchester references[edit]

You're doing a good job referencing the sections on the Manchester page. I imagine it takes a lot of work finding and placing them in. It'll all help to get it GA status. JJC-IE 16:26, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've altered the reflist to show the references in a box with the scroller on the right. The refs are important to verify anything that could be challenged, but with the list getting longer the reference box looks neater. So from Further reading to References to External links looks better. Now it doesnt matter how many references there are, the list doesn't end up longer than the article. I'm sure you'll agree. JJC-IE 19:39, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again Mr Stephen! Thanks ever so much for your recent work on Manchester - it really (really) needed it!... Just wanted to let you know that I removed the scroll bar from the references - it was a great idea, but trouble is, when one wants to print the article, all the references are not shown.
I think using Citation templates will have the intended effect of a "neater" reference section. Let me know if I can help out at all, as I'm keen to get Mcr upto WP:GA at very least! Hope all is well, Jza84 02:31, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I dived in as you requested - I added a much needed demography comparison table! Hopefully it is well received, and aid in obtaining GA and beyond. Jza84 22:49, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your support regarding the campaign to devalue the cultural and contextual status of Manchester as an unofficial second city of the UK. I've done my level best to engage in debate with the user in question (and his multiple accounts). I've had to leave more comments [Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Incidents#User:195.212.52.6.2FUser:Rob_right_and_Manchester here] about this ongoing problem with Rob right. He's now appeared as User:79.73.36.212 and is still reverting dispite calls for debate. It's my view that community support will aid in finding an amicable solution to this problem (I think this is going to stop Manchester getting GA soon). Jza84 00:18, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Advice Welcomed[edit]

As title - you've raised a number of issues with my posts - many apparently valid - advice on a way forward to resolve this would be welcomed. I would hope that this is not related to the "Second City" issue, which I have decided to leave well alone - I was unaware that I had become embroiled in a posting war. It was dissapointing to find that Manchesters own Arch-Bishop's references had been removed in the article though - I would have expected that he would be a respected reference source. Re: Nico Ditch[edit]

From User_talk:Mike33 Nice work on the Nico Ditch, we've needed an article for a while now. I phoned a man at the University yesterday about the ditch. It seems they did some work on the ditch in the Reddish area a few years ago and wrote a report. I'm hoping to see him in the next couple of weeks. The ditch is also mentioned in couple of books about the history of Tameside, I think they are by Michael Nevell, one or more of "Tameside before 1066", "Tameside 1066-1700", and "Tameside 1700-1930". One of them reviews the theories about the ditch's purpose, and my memory is that he decides it was probably a boundary marker. Farrer and Brownbill rather dismiss the idea that a battle near the ditch has named Gorton & Reddish: "Out of Gore-ton and Red-ditch, with the help of the intervening Nico Ditch, popular fancy has made the story of a great battle in the neighbourhood; Harland and Wilkinson, Traditions of Lancs. 26" (online). There also appears to be something in "Vol. xxiii. of Lancashire and Cheshire Antiquarian Society" see here. Anyway, great stuff! Regards, Mr Stephen 10:39, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi it's nearly a year since you wrote the passage above. There has been some dispute over my original text and I have cut it back. I managed to scrounge a copy of Tameside before 1066, but it raises more questions than it answers. I have zipped the relevent pages and posted them at [Nico ditch zip 4.1mb], if you have time can you look over them zip, can you give me some suggestions. Knowledge has moved on considerably since my first source , but I don't want to leave any reader with a confused idea. (sorry if you are on dial-up, i can convert the jpegs to text, but my text reader isn't brilliant on some words!) kind regards Mike33 - t@lk 06:47, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow WikiProject Greater Manchester participant! You may or may not be aware that our Manchester article has recently obtained official good article status! This is a truly great achievement for the project... but... we don't want to stop there! We're hoping to spend the next few weeks as a team to raise the standard of this article to featured standard! It will only be possible if we work together, and thus we hope you can take a moment to look both at the FA criteria, and the Manchester article and aid us in this feat! Any problems, feel free to raise them at Talk:Manchester! Good luck! Jza84 23:20, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I meant to give you this when I did the review...[edit]

I was well impressed with the work of the editors when I did the Manchester GA Review. So..

The Original Barnstar
I award you this barnstar for the hard work and quality editing put into the Manchester article. Pursey Talk | Contribs 03:42, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Keep up the good work :) Pursey Talk | Contribs 03:42, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Oops[edit]

No problem. Just wondering if you added that after reading today's MEN? I actually came on here to add it myself after reading it! and-rewtalk 22:16, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is now pretty hard to pass through Manchester without being thrusted an MEN, I got bombarded as soon as I left Starbucks on my commute home, I almost dropped my Caffé Mocha! I hope C&W are consistent and keep us above Brum in the Europe-wide survey and hope we have a much-deserved higher place than the last year. and-rewtalk 23:35, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That sounded so gay! :| and-rewtalk 00:02, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My additions to the page were not unhelpful or unwarranted-the removal of them by biased members of the community was.

That would be this. Mr Stephen 08:25, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Manchester[edit]

I've seen you're a regular editor to the Manchester article. I've uploaded a new image and placed it in the infobox to the right. If you have any enquiries or want to remove it then please let me know. Thanks. Onnaghar talk ! ctrb 16:27, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
