Fair question. I was just trying to clean up a bit. The most recent add appeared to be a medley, which is against the rules descibed in the article and on the talk page. I also deleted a song by "E-Bizzle 'n' Mizzle," I did this to be consistient with the removal of their other song by a previous user. The group seems to be either not notable or made up. If you Google them the only non-wikipedia ref. is a footnote on someone's MySpace page. If you think I'm wrong in either case verify it and revert away.

I have undeleted this article per a review of Mr. Roach. He is indeed notable enough to be included and does in fact meet WP:MUSIC by some of the standards expressed above. Next time you want to do something like that, you don't need admin help. Just switch the info from one to the other. There might be a few moments where the redirects are circular, but it'd be fixed quickly. For example, you could have cut the info from Merlefest and replaced it with a redirect, then copied the info to MerleFest. All fixed. But don't worry about that now; I'm happy to help. I didn't delete the article, I redirected it, as was the consensus in both an AfD and a DRV discussion. The undirection was in violation of both of those consensuses. Hello, MrFizyx. Thank-you for taking the time to write to me on my talk page. I am new to Wikipedia but I find it an interesting experiment in co-operative behavior. I am pleased to see you weigh in on the issue of NPOV in the LWV article. I had spoken up earlier but got shot down by Yaf and didn't want to get into an edit war.

Hello, again. I have beefed up the content on the LWV page. I would appreciate your feedback. I know it still needs work but I am unsure how long it should get. There is a lot of material available about the history of what the League has promoted over the years. Most of this is not of general interest, I'm afraid. Each section could also include a whole discussion about who is for and against the same positions that the league promotes. But that could get VERY unweildy.

I have tried to follow Wikepedia citations guidelines but I'm not sure if I got that right.

And, finally, when would it be appropriate to remove the 'npov' warning at the top of the page ? Is it balanced enough now or does it need some more verbage about the disagreement over the meaning of non-partisan ??

Pro-choice politicians

Hi! Thanks for your message. I was trying to get more US Senators categorized as either pro-life or pro-choice and threw in a couple other Missouri politicans (my home state) while I was at it. I have to admit I didn't have very objective criteria to go on. For Biden and some of the other Senators (Durbin, Schumer) I primarily based it on statements I heard them make during the Roberts and Alito confirmation hearings. They all seemed supportive of Roe vs. Wade and very concerned about whether the nominees would uphold that decision. For Wendell Bailey, I just remember that he got a lot of flack on the abortion issue from some more conservative Republicans when he ran for Lieutenant Governor a few years ago. I'll see if I can find a source to verify that.

One problem with these categories is that many politicans support some restrictions on abortion but not others. They may define themselves as "pro-life" or "pro-choice" while still getting relatively low marks from the related interest group (NARAL, Right to Life, etc). For example in Missouri, our Governor Matt Blunt defines himself as pro-life and signed some very restrictive abortion laws. However, Missouri Right to Life does not consider him "pro-life" because he supports embryonic stem cell research. You can also have politicans with similar voting records who characterize their positions differently. For example, I think Harry Reid and Joe Biden have very similar voting records but I believe Biden defines himself as pro-choice and Reid defines himself as pro-life. Finally, there is the question of how to categorize politicans who have changed their position over the years. I would appreciate any advice you have on how to create some criteria for who belongs in these categories. TMS63112 19:26, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

I thank you for writing, the reason I wanted to add to the O'reilly article is because someone added a commentary below about how O'Reilly previously praised Letterman but left out why he changed his mind which was because of the exchange they had on the late show. I wanted to drop a brief note on your talk page (one admittedly not written to you only, but nevertheless truly meant) to thank you for your vote in my Request for Adminship, which concluded this evening. Anti-Folk

Heya, I'm still trying to figure out good style on Wikipedia. Would it be okay to harvest the red links from the old list, and toss them wholesale into the header of the category "Anti-folk music" until such point as they areturned blue, and the category tag can be added to the new pages? Hey Samwaltz--I dunno, I get the impression that red link farms are frowned upon in general. Another approach might be to put these lists on talk pages (for both the category and article maybe) and to ask editors to create pages if they have info (I'm just now experimenting with this at Category talk:Righteous Babe Artists, have to wait to see how that works). The problem then of course is that the information is hidden from the general reader. If you want to do what you suggested I won't disapprove. Someone might eventually, but it likely won't draw much attention. It has been my experience, however, that lists of red links like this tend to grow rather than shrink (as was happening on the article page). Best, -MrFizyx 17:25, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

I've never had the pleasure of tuning them in from North Carolina. Come to think of it I'm not positive about Tennessee, but I think there signal would have to reach some places down there. The mountians have some weird effects on radio signals. Sometimes you can't tune them in from the next county. They used to claim they had listeners as far away as southern Ohio, but I'm highly skeptical. Up here one must settle for the online stream. -MrFizyx 19:09, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Bill O'Reilly controversies

I appologize for not discussing my edits in advance--I'm fairly new (though not a newbie) and so was not aware this violated etiquette. In any event from here, I think it would be more productive to discuss the content of my editing--I have replaced factual innacuracies, such as the quote that reads "...and the 82nd airborn that did it" (According to the Media Matters clip linked to in the article, O'Reilly did not say "that did it" but rather ended the sentence after "airborn.") and have tried to replace POV-ish statements. However, I realize that I may have inserted my own POV instead and am therefore asking to work with you on improving, which includes shortening, the article. I look forward to your response. Regarding Bill's October 28 Malmedy statements, I reviewed the video and Bill most definitely said "General, you need to look at the Malmedy massacre and the 82nd airborne who did it" (correction who instead of that). There was no break in his Bill's breath, all of his words were clearly audible, and when he finishes saying them his mouth was closed. Regardless of wether Bill might wanted to say more or not, those are the exact words that came out of his mouth. Please, leave his quote complete and let's not continue parse words. Well, I'm glad there is a conversation started now. I was very troubled when I saw first JChap2007 revert Stanley's edits with an explanation and then saw Stanley's reversal with the comment, "rv vandalism." It ain't vandalism if the editor explains what he is doing and has been active on the article for the past week! Also, I suggested in the AfD debate that you would have been wiser to start by joining the conversation on the talk page and hoped that would have been taken as an invitation. In any case, I'm glad your talking now.

Onterrio Smith

Overweight seems like a fine wording, and not just according to me, according to media as well, see here. What does overweight even mean? Over what weight? Overweight always has a context for what the "proper" weight would be, for a general person, their ideal weight probably has nothing to do with being able to play in a professional football game, but for a professional football player their ideal weight is solely determined by what they need to do on the football field.

The part that I think you are refering to from WP:Living is "Unsourced or poorly sourced negative material about living persons should be removed immediately from both the article and the talk page." That itself comes from an email from Jimbo. In that email Jimbo clearly states they he is talking about "random speculative "I heard it somewhere" pseudo information", of which this is clearly not a case, as it was reported by plenty of media. And finally saying that he is overweight is not negative information, as I explained above it doesn't mean he is fat, it means he is not in his playing shape, and the reason it is included is to give the reader a fairer picture of why he was cut. Without that information one might think that his skill level was just not up to snuff to make it in the "minor league" CFL, which is much more negative information as it could affect is future playing opportunities. Hi Trikkel, to some "overwieght" equates to a certian range of Body mass index, this may not have the same meaning when discussing a world class athlete. I my self think that saying "20 pounds over his playing weight," is more descriptive, but I really don't feel strongly about it so feel free to revert. I really was asking you about that as a question. I brought up WP:LIVING to explain why I would err on the side of caution by removing such content (which was initially unsourced) rather than just requesting a cite be added. Michael Bowers, singer songwriter

i'm curious why you keep removing me from the wikipedia list of singer songwriters. I am a recognized finalist from Kerrville, South Florida Songwriting Contest, among others...all in the last couple of years, and have been increasing visibility and booking significantly since 2004, now also working with my spouse, Siobhan Quinn.

if the issue is not having a previous individual page up on wikipedia, neither did my friend annie gallup until short while ago, and she was listed there for months.

any other explanation? anything i can do that would keep you from taking me off this time?

Thanks for your note! First let me congratulate you on your acheivements. I haven't made it down to Kerrville in over a decade, but wow! I see the page you've created at Michael Bowers and have added some categories and links to other Wikipedia articles. I rever the art that folks such as yourself create. This is why I've added articles on such topics as Sing Out! and Jonathan Byrd. I also started a New Folk section on the article on Kerrville Folk Festival, and have created and maintained a category of articles on finalist.

It looks like your complaint is due to the fact that I have twice removed the name "Michael Bowers," from the article Singer-songwriter. I did this because I thought the article read better if only names were included that had other articles that readers could refer to (such as the article someone wrote a while ago on Annie Gallup). "Singer-songwrtier," is not intended to be a list (see e.g. "List of singer-songwriters") it is intended to be a sort of history of singer-songwriters that highlights a few examples along the way. I'll leave it for you or another editor to decide if you belong in that article and will honor your request to not have the name removed. However, I don't think a good article on the topic can name everyone in Category:Kerrville New Folk Competition finalists, much less all the names in Category:Singer-songwriters, hence I've been trying to keep it trim. -MrFizyx 23:18, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Well you're welcome, I try to be fair and honest, and thats about all one can do. After reviewing such nonsense as WP:BEANS, WP:STUPID, and others that I've already mentioned, I'm convinced that yours is as good or bad as theirs. Has anyone else made use of your essay yet? I suppose it has hardly had time to attract other editors, but that is the sort of thing that might convince me that it belongs in project space. Thanks for your comments of support. This episode has taught me that many people who vote on RfAs are concerned with things other than the candidate's qualifications, and thus, I doubt things would be any different next time if I didn't talk about my gender; these people would just find other reasons to vote against me.
