Hey Mortsey. Thanks for your kind words about my article. I know that my Fundamentalist-Modernist article is probably longer than it needs to be, but I also think that it's an issue that lots of people have strong opinions about without actually knowing a lot of the facts, (e.g. when people think "Christian fundamentalist", lots of people think rural hicks who don't know any better, as opposed to the reality that the initial "fundamentalists" were Ivy League professors, and if you go back and read The Fundamentals, I don't think that the fundamentalist movement can accurately be described as "anti-intellectual," which is another common stereotype people have about fundamentalists). So, I wanted to write an article that would let people have the facts so that they could judge for themselves.
If you want to know more about my background, my Wikipedia user page is pretty comprehensive. Maybe one of the reasons why I was well-placed to write a neutral article on the controvery is because I feel sympathy for both parties in the debate. I grew up in a very liberal church, but came to identify myself with the conservative wing of that church. I flirted with fundamentalism a bit in my later teenage years, currently worship in an evangelical denomination, but when push comes to shove, I would still identify myself as a conservative mainline Christian. So, from the article, the person I really identify with is Clarence E. Macartney, the man who resolutely opposed the spread of liberalism in the PCUSA, but nevertheless refused to leave the PCUSA when all the other conservatives left.

All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
