Welcome to Talk to Dr. Mike Beep[edit]

Hi friends,

thank you for visiting my talk page. I believe that you must be here either because you like my editing or you disapprove of my editing. I hope that most of you are here because of the former. Please forgive me if it is the latter. All you need to do is simply undo my editions of your contributions. If you do not know how to undo it, simply drop me a note here and I will see to it.

As regards to my contributions, I also expect the same courtesy. Being an academic practitioner, I try my best to contribute only referenced materials that have either been published in respectable journals or presented at international academic meetings. For those who are not familiar with the development of theories in the academic world, you should note that new theories presented within the last one to three years are generally considered cutting-edge and are therefore usually not well developed for the general public yet. I believe that it is necessary to include cutting-edge theories in our articles as long as we make it a point not to claim it as a well-established theory. We can avoid this misrepresentation by noting the year of origin and the occasion of the international presentation. Otherwise, Wikipedia will only become a very outdated source of knowledge (this should not happen to an online encyclopedia)- which I am afraid, is very much the case when we have overzealous editors deleting anything that they do not understand or have not read in their popular magazines or guru books.

I will state upfront that you will also find some of my research outputs mentioned amongst my contributions. Please use the same criteria as stated above to consider the validity of all my contributions, regardless of whether the research originated from me or others. However, if you should have reasons to believe that my contributions are misrepresenting a particular field or theory, please inform me here on my talk page and I will either take it down or defend my contributions.

For those who are actively editing like me, please remember to "assume good faith" of others.

Best regards, Dr. Mike Beep 27 November 2010

Avoid contributing to articles "guarded" by editors who impose their views as the standard[edit]

Hi friends,

if you are like me, you would probably have encountered certain editors on Wikipedia who like to dictate the contents of the article. They like to determine what goes up and what should not simply based on their own preference and by virtue that they have been around in Wikipedia world for so... many years. If you are feeling frustrated, my advice is, just go contribute to another article. It is not worth your time to debate with such people. And that is especially so if they are those who can afford to spend 8 hours a day on Wikipedia and you can't. :)

For those who are actively editing like me, please remember to "assume good faith" of others.

Best regards, Dr. Mike Beep 2 December 2010
