Your username[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Mikarna Inc", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Hello Mikarna Inc. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Mikarna Inc. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Mikarna Inc|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Uhai (talk) 08:16, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Much thanks to you for your request in regards to the revelation of pay for my commitments to Wikipedia. I need to explain that I get no type of compensation for my commitments to Wikipedia. My commitments are made on a deliberate and unpaid basis, in accordance with Wikipedia's standards of receptiveness and neutrality. I'm focused on maintaining Wikipedia's rules and policies and ensuring the accuracy and nature of content on the stage. I value your efforts in keeping up with the integrity of Wikipedia, and I stay devoted to contributing emphatically to this significant asset with no monetary benefit. If it's not too much trouble, let me know as to whether there are a particular techniques or activities I ought to continue in such manner. Thanks Mikarna Inc (talk) 09:43, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Mikarna Inc. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia-- the world's largest free content encyclopedia. I'm sorry, but a page you created  User:Mikarna Inc has been deleted as meeting one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects of articles must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources which are unconnected with the subject and which provide verifiable information. Someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see WP:CORP for subjects that are groups or companies or organizations. Please see WP:ANYBIO for subjects who are people. Please see Wikipedia:Common sourcing mistakes (notability). Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Adventure is a useful tutorial.

Also, encyclopedia articles must be neutral in tone and not use language that promotes or advocates for a subject, or tries to cast the subject in a favorable light. Please see Information on content and common pitfalls to avoid here and here. Sometimes creators of promotional/advocational content are bewildered that it is considered such. If one has been trained to write such content, or if one has spent some time writing such content, one may simply be blind to non-neutral phrases or styles.

A common assumption is that the prohibition against promotional editing applies only to businesses or organizations. Anything can be promoted, including a person, a non-commercial organization, a point of view, etc.

CV's/resumé's are by their nature promotional. Writing about oneself or any connected subject is discouraged as the connection can make objectivity difficult. Information on avoiding advocational content and common pitfalls is here and here, however be aware that these are not exhaustive.

New article creation can be difficult, but the Article Wizard can help you. The new user tutorial can help you avoid future problems. You can seek help IRC chat, as well as Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk Sometimes it is better to first gain experience by fixing and helping maintain existing articles. Wikipedia:Community portal/Opentask contains links to things that badly need doing, if you are so inclined.

User pages and User talk pages are intended only to assist collegiality among users. They are not to be used as a soapbox for writings not connected with the editorial process on Wikipedia. While we appreciate that you enjoy using Wikipedia, please note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and

  • not a free webhosting service ,
  • not a personal website,
  • not a blog
  • not a social media site

Nor are user pages intended to host articles, CV's/resumés or lengthy autobiographies. Wikipedia is not a promotional venue or a place to post ads. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia ~ subjects of articles must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources which are unconnected with the subject and which provide verifiable information. For article creation, Please use WP:AfC and/or request help at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk. You can also seek help via IRC chat.

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Mikarna Inc. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page User:Mikarna Inc, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 09:18, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

October 2023[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 09:18, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

Hello, first of all I want to clear few things here that I's naive about Wikipedia and I didn't knew much about its username policy that's why I choose the wrong user name for my account. I thought it was just a username to login into my account and it has nothing to do with my Articles and my work on Wikipedia. Now, I do understand the reason why my account got blocked and I'm willing to change my account username with proposed name of "Mikael Butt" which I have already checked is not associated with anyone else globally. Secondly, Thank you for asking about how much compensation I received for my Wikipedia efforts. I should make it clear that I am not paid in any way for my Wikipedia contributions. I don't expect financial or any kind of compensation for my work on Wikipedia now or in near future. I'm doing this just for voluntary and unpaid basis and to meet my craving of learning new things and for that I joined this platform to learn and contribute my part. I'm committed to honoring Wikipedia's rules and regulations and making sure the information on the site is accurate and of high quality. I commend your efforts in ensuring Wikipedia's integrity, and I'm still committed to making useful contributions to this important resource with no expecting payment. I would try to make multiple contributions to increase the caliber and correctness of the information on the website if I could access Wikipedia again. My objective would be to actively participate in the Wikipedia community and support the maintenance of the platform's established high standards for accuracy and quality. I request you Kindly approve my username change request and unblock my account at your earliest. Thanks Mikarna Inc (talk) 08:42, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Based on what you wrote and your proposed username, it appears that you are writing about your father- this is a severe conflict of interest and as such you won't be permitted, in the near future, to do that. Please tell us what edits you intend to make instead that are unrelated to any conflict of interest that you have. 331dot (talk) 08:59, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please place new posts at the bottom, for proper chronological flow. This may be easier to do if you refrain from using the Reply feature(which is imperfect and does not accomodate unblock requests well) and instead click "edit" in the section header or at the top of this page to edit it directly. 331dot (talk) 08:56, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Hello, I've mentioned earlier that I was naive about Wikipedia and I didn't have much knowledge how to create Articles. Now I have learned and understand Wikipedia SOP's and their policies about editing articles by reading each topic and guidlines provided by Wikipedia. I did proposed username which is "Mikael Butt" and it has nothing to do with my article title. It was only assumed name. If it is conflict of interest then I request again to change my username. I want to edit articles about Sports, Mathematics, Politics and Political figures because these are my favorite subjects and I love to read about these topics on daily basis. I always engage in debates related to these mentioned subjects and I'm reading about them and enlightening myself with updates and knowledge since my childhood. I hope I can contribute significantly in these topics and polish my Wikipedia editing skills. Thanks

Decline reason:

This does not address your perceived violation of WP:COI. Yamla (talk) 10:06, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
