Speedy deletion contested. It is a well-sourced article about a notable person / historic figure. The speedy deletion notice makes no sense and harms the integrity of the author in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Meduna.Wiki (talk) 11:21, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Close connection with the topics you're editing?[edit]

Hi Meduna.Wiki and thanks for editing Wikipedia. I'm a WP:NPP and came across an article you created recently, Bertha von Meduna. I noticed that your username also includes the word "Meduna", which made me curious about a possible connection. When I looked at your December 2023 contribution history, I noticed that several of the articles you've been creating/editing also contain that word. Note, it is okay to write about long-dead family members(!) ... as long as you're adhering to Wikipedia's core policies regarding WP:N, WP:RS, WP:V, WP:NPOV and, WP:COI. Would you kindly address the potential close connection? It's quite possible that your username and the subjects you are editing have no connection. For the sake of transparency, it's important to clarify the confusion. Thank you, and happy holidays.

Hi @Rosiestep, thank you for raising this and giving me an opportunity to clarify! While I am still very new to Wikipedia, I did try to research to the best of my abilities in order to only post content that strictly adheres to Wikipedia's policies, in particular WP:COI, which I understand is your main point of inquiry here.
My last name is "Meduna" and a while ago I embarked on researching the origins and different family histories of the surname, which ultimately led me to summarize some existing literature in the Wikipedia articles you listed to further the interests of the encyclopedia (hence also the username).
The noable persons in your list all bear that surname but of course none of them relate in any other way neither to myself or my family (none of them in a direct ancestral relationship - so even if, as you clarified, it is okay to write about long-dead family members, I would not consider that to be the case) - nor, of course, friends, clients, employers, or my financial and other relationships.
Long story short, my contributions have been driven by the interest to share notable (WP:N) information about the surname from a neutral point of view (WP:NPOV), using reliable (WP:RS) and verifiable (WP:V) sources.
If there is need for any additional clarity or if you have further guidance that can help me to improve my contributions in line with Wikipedia policies and standards, do not hesitate to follow up!
Many thanks,
