Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Marchije! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 940 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. John Bigelow Taylor - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Hey Marchije! I recently completed an article for Paul I, 1st Prince Esterházy of Galántha and nominated the article for Template talk:Did you know. I noticed that you had quality checked some of the other submissions and was wondering if you could give me any guidance as to how to make the article more appealing for selection. Any suggestions you could offer would be of the greatest help! --Caponer (talk) 16:34, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi Caponer,
While I have verified references and hooks on the DYK nomination page, I've never been involved in actually selecting an article to be published to the DYK section of Wikipedia's main page. My assumption is that they are looking for articles which adhere to Wikipedia's main policies. In my opinion your article is a good length with many references, so my first thought was that you could remove the {{Expand Hungarian}} and {{Expand German}} tags; my only concern would be that all of your references seem to be web-based and although you do list two texts under the "Sources" section, you do not site these sources specifically in the body of the article. However, having created similar articles on subjects who have very little information available in the English language — such as the article I expanded on Nagaharu Yodogawa — I know that this can be a challenge. Luckily I was able to find a couple more reliable sources on Nagaharu Yodogawa due to him having lived within the last quarter century. I find for more historical figures one can try doing a Google book search. I did a search on "Prince Paul Esterhazy of Galantha" and found quite a few articles in English with either "Full View" or "Limited preview".
Hope that helps. Marchijespeak/peek 09:01, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
It does indeed! I've added information from sources there to the article. Check it out! --Caponer (talk) 11:59, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Lookin' good. Glad I could help. 8-) Marchijespeak/peek 13:56, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

DYK for Les Foufounes Électriques

RlevseTalk 00:03, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

I updated the ref for the fact you mentioned on Template talk:Did you know. Thanks! --Rajah (talk) 22:17, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

I responded regarding the IMMI, thanks. --Rajah (talk) 22:51, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
I'm still not comfortable approving the hook including the IMMI info. I've left my rationale and suggested we get a second opinion. I just wish I could find an article specifically stating what direct involvement she has with the IMMI... Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Marchijespeak/peek 23:55, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
Marchije, the IMMI is not a group. It is a law. She sponsored the law, as the New York Times clearly states. Do you agree with this? --Rajah (talk) 02:16, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Btw, I responded on the DYK page too. --Rajah (talk) 02:16, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Does it look ok now? --Rajah (talk) 19:25, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

DYK for Eugénie Buffet

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mark Stanley (lighting designer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. --Nuujinn (talk) 00:44, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Nomination of Mark Stanley (lighting designer) for deletion

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. --Nuujinn (talk) 10:35, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
