Rome nominated on WP:EUC[edit]

Some time ago, you voted for Rome on Wikipedia:Article Improvement Drive. I have now renominated it on the new Wikipedia:European Union collaboration. Consider voting for it if you are still interested.--Fenice 12:38, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, Lite!
You voted to support my FAC for James Aubrey, for which I say thanks. I wonder if you would support my current candidate, Bob McEwen: Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Bob McEwen. PedanticallySpeaking 16:25, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

With your vote of support, the Bob McEwen article was made a featured article this morning. Thanks for your vote. PedanticallySpeaking 16:40, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I think there's a way to save the information for this article. I did some digging, and a term does exist for this: "temporal doppelganger", as listed here. The information could be used to expand that section of the article, which is more of a list than an explanation. So I recommended a merge with Doppelgänger, and I recommend you should do the same.--み使い Mitsukai 05:47, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Amerime[edit]

This probably goes without saying, but if you can help me keep an eye on the page while it's AFD'd, I'd appreciate it. I'd like to see this page survive, and I'm concerned that some well-meaning but overzealous otaku (or worse) might ruin the article's chance. Thanks.--み使い Mitsukai 19:49, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxes/Babel[edit]

I'm not really sure which talk page I should be putting this on, mine, or yours, so I'm putting it on yours. In regards to you question on whether or not there is a complete list of Babels available on Wikipedia, currently, I have not yet found one. The way I get mine, are by taking them from other people's page. Keep in mind though, you can never have a complete list, since you can always make new ones. Lifting the barrier to 4 votes per week on WP:AID[edit]

There is currently a vote going on whether to lift the barrier to 4 votes per week on WP:AID. Since you help maintain the project, maybe you would wish to vote. --Dijxtra 11:34, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

illuminatus[edit]

thanks for volunteering to help on The Illuminatus! Trilogy. me and User:Schizombie have been building it up ready for WP:FAC, have a look at the talk page for remaining issues (not much except what was mentioned on the "join in" page). no need to wait for the 3rd person, as i guess we can count schizombie as a regular too. cheers. Zzzzz 00:25, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the The Illuminatus! Trilogy article is now up for "featured article" status. please go to Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/The Illuminatus! Trilogy to vote Support or Oppose with your comments. cheers. Zzzzz 17:55, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: The Dharma Initiative[edit]

Hi. I reverted your edits because, as I left in the edit summary, it contained too much speculation and fancruft. For example, calling the tail section station "The Arrow" is speculation because it was never identified as such by an official source. Additionally, referring to the station featured in Maternity Leave as a medical station is also speculation because we have no way of judging if that was its only purpose, and it was never referred to as a medical station. Currently there simply isn't enough verifiable information about any of the stations other than The Swan to warrant separate sections. Jtrost (T | C | #) 22:44, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

trosty just doesnt get it. Btw, Litefantastic , I completely agree with your comments on this guys user page, trosty has a God complex and is insanely egotistical. I've done everything I can to clean up after him to reduce his effect, but unfortunately he's immune to logic. Combined with his seemingly jobless, school-less, and sleepless life, he has all day to spread his influence. (I hope that trosty doesn't see this and decide its too much 'fancruft') ArgentiumOutlaw 02:07, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm happy to let you know that with three contributors, the collaboration is now active.

re: Join in message[edit]

Hi, you may have noticed that I sent the same message to all the "joined" contributors to the article. Easier maintenance that way.

Vampire[edit]

Hello. I reverted your edits to the Vampire article, since the information you added should be considered vampire fiction rather than folklore/mythology. Information found in vampire fiction (where, for example, Dracula, Buffy and Blade belongs) isn't really that reliable as a source for articles about vampires in folklore.

Hello. My fellow Wikipedian has pointed out that the right side of the globe in the AID logo you created looks flat and distorted. (it might help if you look at the image close up). And as long as we're on that topic[edit]

I've completed the rollover at WP:AID for this week, except for items 5 and 6 on the maintenance list. If you return soon, I could use a little assistance with those two steps. Joyous | Talk 18:48, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I got it figured out. Joyous | Talk 01:09, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You have placed a {{pov}} tag on this article, but did not specify any particular reason on the talk page as to why you are disputing the article's neutrality. If you are not going to give any specific reasons behind your dispute, then I will remove the {{pov}} tag from the article. --TheFarix (Talk) 15:00, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lovecraft and 'shew'[edit]

He seems to have used 'shew' quite often in both stories and correspondence, but not invariably; this collection of letters uses both spellings. AFAICT, while Re-Animator used 'shew', Pickman's Model and several others used 'show' - I suspect it might've been a conscious stylistic decision that varied from story to story. (Or maybe an editor modernised his spelling here and there, but I haven't seen anything to indicate that.) So I've reworded your addition slightly.

BTW, please don't use the 'minor edit' tag for that sort of thing - as per WP:ME, even if it's only a sentence, anything that adds new information to an article shouldn't be tagged as minor. --Calair 23:15, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problems. It's not a big issue, just makes it slightly easier for me to track changes to the page content without looking at every last spelling correction :-) --Calair 23:24, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Links to Amazon[edit]

No, we specifically don't link to commercial sites like Amazon. See Wikipedia:External links: Links to normally avoid: "4. Sites that primarily exist to sell products or services." — "8. Bookstores." --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 17:19, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm, I'm sure that you don't mean "insist"... But why do you think that verification is needed? Is there any doubt of its existence? We don't demand (or give) such verification in other articles (aside from anything else, it would often make them top-heavy with external links). --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 07:42, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If it makes you feel better, I have the album. But the point is that, if you look at the thousands of articles about albums, we don't supply any more than is already at this article (the All Music Guide link in the infobox gives everything that you want, surely?). --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 21:20, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, I have the LP in the sense that I bought it for a nephew and haven't given it to him yet... I only have the CD myself. I prefer vinyl in principle, but I've got into the habit of CD-buying (and vinyl's usually so much more expensive). --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 08:38, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with the Inuyasha article[edit]

Merge Vote on Ultraviolet map[edit]

Hi I was thinking about taking this whole merge discussion in an entirely different direction. Instead of merging the info on the poorly named Ultraviolet map into the unfocused The DHARMA Initiative. How about we expand on Silentplanet's idea and create sub sections on known Hatches?

Remember the "The DHARMA Initiative" article is supposed to focus on what it is. Adding more information to "the Swan" only shows that this hatch should be expanded upon in another article. The title of this article after all is not "The DHARMA Hatches." To me it looks like we should put in some information about what exactly the DHARMA Initiative is. We should give some history on it maybe include the information on the film and then some brief information about the hatches and what they are. Hatches that we know more about like "The Swan" should have its own page that would then contain information such as "the Map", "The Timer", etc... I think that this is a more reasonable solution and would also make it a more logical solution as an encyclopedia article. Please let me know what you think (in your talk page)! And if you do agree please note that on your merge vote! Thanks -- UKPhoenix79 04:00, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree. have we jumped that hurdle about whether or not the notes on the blast door are the same stations visited in the show? That's key. -Litefantastic 23:05, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I could only think of 6 terribly awful songs even though there are numerous others. I know one song that deserves a spot on this list, but I can't remember the name of it. I don't know if you want tips but if you do don't hesitate to ask me. Here they are:
  1. I Want You to Want Me - Cheap Trick
  2. I Need to Know - Marc Anthony
  3. A Man and A Woman - U2
  4. Ice Ice Baby - Vanilla Ice
  5. Dancing Queen - ABBA
  6. I'm Like a Bird - Nelly Furtado

There they are. When you setup a page to compile the list let me know so I can put it on my watchlist. RENTAFOR LET?

I fundamentally disagree with your accusation made at Wikipedia talk:Science collaboration of the week. I feel that on Wikipedia, I am at liberty to message anyone as and when I please, and I pray - out of character - that this liberty shall remain with us. The link in the template has been fixed.

SCOTW problem[edit]

As moderator of SCOTW, I'm sorry for letting the mailing list bring trouble to you. From the next issue, SCOTW contributors' and regulars' messages will include a link to a place where they can remove their names from the regulars' list or add their names to the no-message list.

I sincerely regret for any inconvenience caused.

Thank you for your nice encouragement. I believe SCOTW will be better in the future. One reminder - make sure you add your name to the no-message list. Deryck C. 04:36, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A response to your FLCL note[edit]

No problem. I'm sure that you weren't trying to cause any commotion. It's just that those "ifs" are very hard to gauge, so it's not really Encyclopedic. I think it might be better to find sources where its popularity is mentioned, and cite those. I'm not sure about this "only Top 1000 voters" thing. That seems completely false to me, but since the IMDb doesn't publish said info, we can't be sure. Zepheus 01:38, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bad Songs[edit]

I like to keep tabs on certain things and one of them is your "bad songs" talley. I noticed that you didn't really have any other songs except for the ones I submitted. This is just a suggestion, but what I did was I went looking for users that were interested in music. I went to the pages of certain bands, clicked on the what links here link on the left toolbar and then used the yahoo search box to highlight the word user every time it appears. Then I left a message on peoples talk pages about my survey. That was what really got my survey rolling and may help yours too. RENTASTRAWBERRY FOR LET? röck 22:48, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Soho beverages article proposed for deletion[edit]

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Soho beverage, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Importance). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:Soho beverage. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.

I didn't think you'd have too strong of feelings about it, judging by the edit history. I just didn't want to seem like I was trying to sneak it by, either. (and I just realized I forgot to sign the above, oops). Sxeptomaniac 23:11, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AMC Matador random deletions[edit]

Hi, I'm wondering if you're the guy that just put in a bunch of seeming random deletions, what was up with that?

FLCL concerns[edit]

I noticed that you added your FLCL-ep template to both the episodes FireStarter and Brittle Bullet and just want to inform you that this template is completely obsolete. A FLCL Template already exists and is used universally on FLCL pages. It's much cleaner and looks better when it's used. In addition, it's cumbersome to have two nearly identical templates on one page. I'm not out to start an edit war, but I reverted most of your edits since they were either not helpful or made the page look worse. I request that you not try to fix what isn't broken. --Gunblade 03:06, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

More FLCL[edit]

I did like the addition of the FLCL script to both your experimental FLCL-ep template and the current FLCL template. I conveniently have all the episodes on my computer so I can reference them pretty much anytime. If you make the necessary changes to the ep template to include run time, characters introduced, and overall theme (as you previously said), then I can add the details in by looking over the episodes. I do not however know the different songs used in each episode and it may prove difficult to track down such info. --Gunblade 22:17, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I like the template you made, it's good now. If that's the complete, finished product, then I'll start implementing it on FLCL pages right away. I have no other suggestions that would improve it. --Gunblade 15:55, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I cast my vote for the FLCL improvement drive. However, we may need to appeal to a good host of people if we want this to pass. --Gunblade 21:15, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If there is a way to "advertise" (and I use that term in the loosest possible sense) on the Anime Wikiproject or at least to users who have recently contributed to FLCL. I don't really know. I'm not one to oft-venture outside the box on Wikipedia. --Gunblade 02:57, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

10 worst songs[edit]

How dare you not include Hanson's mmm bop? The reason it is forgotten now is it is too horrible to remember. The Spice Girls deserve a mention too. Rintrah 15:38, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for your contributions! It will be added to my Database of Suck shortly. -Litefantastic 22:49, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That is very gratifying. Thank you.
I assume your database only lists songs. A serious music scholar, however, would not fail to mention that the Hanson members were confused as girls by most people who saw their songs' video clips.
As to the Spice Girls, I nominate "wannabe", their debut single, which announced their infamy. It not only had a disastrous consequence -- it solidified their popularity --, it was their worst song too. At least that is my judgement now, which is already tortured enough by the thought of the group, so I cannot listen to their songs again to make the most judicious (or injudicious) choice. 11:39, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

FLCL failing WP:GA[edit]

Hello. I did give the reason why I failed FLCL from WP:GA status on the discussion page immediately after I failed it. You can see the comment by going here: (Talk:FLCL#Good_Article_nomination_is_on_Hold). With the vast number of substantive edits in the past few days, the article clearly fails the Stable criterion. It merely needs to stew for a while in its goodness to be stable enough for re-nomination. I hope that clears things up. By the way, when you leave messages on people's talk pages, it may better serve you in the future if you do so in a polite manner (WP:Etiquette) since not every editor is forgiving of what may be considered a rude or false accusation. You may want to choose your words and tone carefully, keeping in mind that communication via talk pages puts certain impediments on communication of meaning that are not a problem in vocal/visual communication. - Davodd 00:29, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Whole *^*&%^ Family[edit]

Thanks for your kind note on The Whole Whatever Family. I've written 88 jillion articles on James, so this one wasn't too much of a strain. Nobody outside deepest English Department geekdom remembers the novel now, but it was kinda fun to read about all those high-priced writers kvetching at each other. Reminds me a little of Wikipedia, except for the "high-priced" part (wink). Thanks again. Casey Abell 00:54, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair Use[edit]

Thanks for the messages you sent me. I have since tried to work on the fair use problem, but I'm really flying blind here. I edited all of the pictures on the characters page, and added the following:

Fair use for Characters of FLCL[edit]

This image is being linked here; though the picture is subject to copyright I, Blademaster313, feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  • it is a low-resolution screenshot of a character from FLCL;
  • it does not limit the copyright owners' rights to sell the wider copyrighted work in any way;
  • it provides an illustration of the character and is to be used solely for exposition and criticism.

Do you think that's good, at least for the characters? I'll continue to work on this, and in the meantime I would value your opinion. Thanks.

I agree with you on which pictures should be deleted. The only picture that I can't give you an answer about is Mamimi3, as that was not uploaded by me. Thank you for going through these. Blademaster313 21:09, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
