Seguir el pulso[edit]

Dear Sir Dimtri Nikolaj and Estimated dr. K.Koolstra: I herewith like to really thank you for your helpfull support in the case of my recent astonishing blocking up from further editing again. In the mean time with best regards I remain faithfully yours: D.A. Borgdorff - e.i. MASc. by 86.83.155.44 (talk) 13:04, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Citation needed[edit]

Can you explain why you replaced the 'citation needed' flag in standard deviation? I think it is nonsense to put citations to every easily provable fact that can be checked in many different standard textbooks. What is then, according to you, the wikipedia standard? Why is a citation needed for this mathematical fact and not for all the other mathematical facts, formulae, etc. in this article. Or do you think that those should be tagged also. By the way, what do you think how it looks to the reader? It looks as if there is doubt about these facts, which is absolutely nonsense. KKoolstra (talk) 20:16, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

All this is explained at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Mathematics. Among other things, it says that if a citation is requested one should be supplied. Readers cannot be expected to investigate untold text books to find a source. See also Wikipedia:Verifiability. As far as I know, "how it looks to the reader" is not one of the criteria for deciding inclusion in Wikipedia. Melcombe (talk) 20:35, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
