Welcome to Wikipedia[edit]

Hello Joseph Hewes, welcome to Wikipedia!

I noticed nobody had said hi yet... Hi!

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Wikipedia Boot Camp, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing! -- Kleinzach (talk) 11:49, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the information about the Vienna production. Where did you get the information? (See WP:V) Can you add more details in the body of the article? Thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 13:17, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done. --Joseph Hewes (talk) 02:25, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Looks great, thanks! There are lots of other Edwardian Musical Comedies that could use more information about international productions, if you have it. All the best, -- Ssilvers (talk) 03:36, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[edit]

The Working Wikipedian's Barnstar
For helping to keep Wikipedia:Requested articles/Biographies in working order. CactusWriter | needles 08:25, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think Wikipedia:Requested articles/Biographies is one of those important, yet underrated, back alleys on Wikipedia. It requires continual updating as well as diligence for hidden BLP issues. (I know this after spending several months and nearly a thousand edits). Your efforts there have been noticed and are appreciated. Thanks! CactusWriter | needles 08:25, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Photographers[edit]

See the biographies wanted page, or this. As part of my brutal (as you requested!) job, I signed my work. I realize that sigs are anomalous at best, but the whole job was a very personal and perhaps arbitrary business, so I thought it should be flagged as such, at least till somebody (yourself?) familiar with the workings of the page could take a second look. -- Hoary (talk) 14:23, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Evelyn Baker[edit]

Sorry, I went on vacation and then I was buried in work. I see the reference to the dates for Baker: 1855-1908, as you note. However, I cannot verify them. Maybe checking these songs by Baker will turn up more: "When love comes knocking at the door" (1906); "Jes' so: coon song" (1900); "The stolen sunbeam" (1907). I would say that, based on what I can see, Baker is not notable and no substantial article can be written on the subject. I looked at The Times and did not see even one article about Baker - no obituary. Best regards, -- Ssilvers (talk) 00:41, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A question about George O'Neil[edit]

Hello Jo ! I’m interested in Ernest Hemingway friends. Do you think the George O'Neil (born in the Middle-West, at about the end of the 19° century, like Hemingway) you wrote about in WP en in 2009 was one of them ? If so, have you any detailed references ? Thanks a lot beforehand, t.y.Arapaima (talk) 09:59, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's been a while since I looked at this, but yes, I believe they are the same person. The Hemingway short story Cross Country Snow is based on a ski trip Hemingway and O'Neil took together. O'Neil was a close friend of Lynn Riggs and there's more information about him in this biography of Riggs[1].
