Duryodhan Majhi

Hello Jkaharper. Per http://www.ptinews.com/news/13037438_Senior-Odisha-politician-Duryodhan-Majhi-dies-at-83.html he may have died on the way to hospital and Per https://sambadenglish.com/duryodhan-majhi-former-odisha-minister-and-ex-mla-passes-away/ he was declared dead at around 3 am. @Ghmyrtle:, good luck with Faye Adams! That's a tricky one. There are 4 other cases that spring to mind, but they're more obscure than Torok or Adams. Boomie Richman and Walter Buchanan (musician) are surely deceased, but they faded into obscurity. Buchanan was married to Dinah Washington at one point so you'd expect his fate to be recorded somewhere! Roma Wilkinson was a songwriter for the likes of Bing Crosby, The Andrews Sisters etc. She died in 2013 according to this but the source fails WP:RS. Doc Goldberg is the only member of the Glenn Miller Orchestra whose death details are missing on Wiki (bar Ray Anthony who is still alive and turns 100 next week!). Goldberg is a difficult one owing to the fact that there is another jazz musician called Milt Hinton who also used the pseudonym "Doc Goldberg". Glenn Miller's Doc Goldberg died in Jan or Feb 1988 and his real first name was Edward according to this forum chat. On Ancestry, there is a death record for an "Edward Lord", and on the record it has "Edward Goldberg" written in brackets beside his main name. He died in Jan 1988 and was born in 1913 in Brooklyn, NY. I think this is him. That's all I got in the music category, for now. Torok is definitely the biggest name there. I have hundreds of others on my watchlist on here, but not many others are musicians (bar one or two Italian and German singers etc.). Thanks! --Jkaharper (talk) 16:34, 12 January 2022 (UTC)

Roma Wilkinson

I've taken a quick look at her article, and it seems as though these edits from 2016 (initially as an IP and then as Cheri.soto) may well be valid, along with the Sugarbeat site. (You probably already know this. She also uploaded the image.) Cherilyn Soto has an account on Ancestry.com, and I think can be found through Google searches. Family trees at Ancestry say that Roma died at Rancho Cordova, Sacramento, in 2013. They also suggest that Roma's father's name (giving her birth surname) was Charles Wagaman, and that Wilkinson was the surname of one of her three husbands - the others were Bill Mackintosh, and Ernest Ophir Trujillo (1915-1984), whose daughter Cherilyn married Moises Soto (hence her surname). Ruth Oma Wagaman (birth name) married Bill Mackintosh in 1939 in California; and married Trujillo in 1950. I haven't found a date for her marriage to Wilkinson. (A word of warning - some of the trees associated with Trujillo state that Ruth (Roma) died in 1979, not 2013 - there is certainly a social security record for a Ruth Wagaman, born 1918, died in Maryland 1979, but it seems unlikely that that is her.) And, Ruth Oma Wagaman is shown as a songwriter for Jim Reeves here, and also here. So, that is almost certainly her birth name. Here she is shown as Ruth Oma Wilkinson. None of this is WP:RS of course, but may give you lines for further investigation. Ghmyrtle (talk) 20:26, 12 January 2022 (UTC)

Interestingly, Barry Richman's timeline reveals that his father Boomie was alive as late as 2015(!) but died between then and 2018 (as someone refers to him as being "missed"). Have there been RfCs or similar discussions for verification of death?

I'm wondering if you're aware of any RfC's or similar discussions on how to properly verify the date of death for a biographical article when it's extremely likely that the subject has died, Berniece Baker Miracle being an example. Hi @Hipal:, in the past I used OTRS to create tickets to upload death certificates in some instances (usually for British subjects who died completely off radar). It's been years since I've had to do this as I usually ping leads to obituary writers in the media as soon as I hear about passings. The OTRS system is now the Volunteer Response Team (VRT), and I'm not quite sure how the process works nowadays. Berniece Baker Miracle is a tricky one because she died nearly 8 years ago now, so it's no longer newsworthy for the press. Whilst I'm well equipped with the death indexes for England & Wales, Scotland and France, the U.S. ones are harder. Her death record isn't on Ancestry yet as about 10-15 years need to have passed for it to become public. I wouldn't know how to go about requesteing a certificate from the Asheville registrar (there must be a way as TMZ do it all the time, most recently with Betty White and Sidney Poitier). I approached her daughter, Mona Rae Miracle, via email yesterday (using the contact details on her personal website). BUT, she's now in her 80s, and her website has not been active for years, so I do not expect to hear back. That was my backup idea, because you can also create a ticket for personal correspondence as evidence. I've kept the page on my watchlist and I'll keep racking my brain on it. Maybe another option is to take the 2 sources we currently have to Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard and see if we can get approval for their use. Whilst the sources aren't great, they are consistent with one another and there appears to be no conflicting information elsewhere. Hope this helps? This is getting quite boring now. A single user obsessed with deleting bios of noted individuals, flanked by his sidekick. Their own edit histories show they have nothing constructive to offer in terms of building pages up – they simply wish to destroy the hard work of other users is indisputably a personal attack, as is the statement regarding non-constructive behaviour. I would note that the rest of your post as it pertains to commentary on me is incorrect, but it doesn't as explicitly violate WP:PA as what I have quoted.
