  1. When you move an article to another title and create a disambiguation page at the article's original location, you should correct any links leading to the disambiguation page so that they lead to the correct page. See Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Links_to_disambiguated_topics.
  2. Wikipedia:Naming conventions (capitalization) states "In general, titles of books, films, and other works are also capitalized, except for articles (a, and, the) and prepositions and conjunctions shorter than five letters (e.g., to, from, and)." So "with" in "I'm with Stupid" shouldn't be capitalised because it is a preposition. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 11:16, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Where have I not corrected any links to the disambiguation page? I remember spending a lot of time on correcting links so that they all went to the right places. As for the capitalisation of the word with, as far as I remember I was only following how the word was written in articles, unless you're referring to the disambiguation page itself. jd || talk || 13:31, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Big Brother (UK series 7)[edit]

Hey there. I'm leaving you this message as you were a part of making the article Big Brother (UK series 7) and I've had the crazy idea of trying to get it to featured status, or at least a good article. I've made a peer review page, and comments there for improving would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you see I have left anyone out could you message them as well? Thanks. --Alex (Talk) 11:31, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thank you for reverting vandalism on my talk page. That is more annoying than userpage vandalism because of that orange screen of death, and scurrying to find what I did wrong:)MrFishGo Fish 17:14, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Haha no worries. jd || talk || 17:20, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My user page[edit]

Thanks for removing the Microsoft Windows logo from my user page. I was trying to find a logo for that userbox, and was unaware of the fair use problem. Can you think of anything else I could use? --Pianohacker (Talk) 22:05, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is already a userbox somewhere, but I don't know where it is. If I ever find it (unlikely), I'll let you know. jd || talk || 09:23, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism??[edit]

Do you really think that 'Little Miss Jocelyn' merits a page nearly as long as the Goon Show?. I have no axe to grind here, but I think that saying my reduction of the size of the article to reflect the show's 'historical significance' was 'vandalism' was a little unjustified. Perhaps you are emotionally very close to the show, and maybe are aggrieved about how this turkey was received, but Wikipedia is not an organ for self-promotion by TV production crews or writers. 160.84.253.241 09:12, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article is not self-promotion. If you have a problem with the length of the article, discuss it on the talk page. Any unexplained or unjustified removal of article content is considered vandalism, and could result in a user's being blocked. Your blanking of the article was based on your own opinion of the show, and Wikipedia has a neutral point of view policy that every user must stick to. If you remove content from the article or vandalise it again, you'll get another warning. jd || talk || 09:20, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
(Quaking in boots)...I actually think that the show was a brave attempt. It just didn't work, that's all. I watched the first five episodes before giving-up. I liked JLE's previous work, and if she can recover from this 'bomb' I hope she'll be back. But I counter your argument of saying that anybody who does anything to an article that you don't like is a vandal,...No matter how many 'J's appear in your user name(s).
The only thing I didn't like about your edit was that it was vandalism. If you think your edit was valid, discuss it on the talk page, but don't copy this conversation there. Start a separate conversation, and link to this one if you think it is necessary (User talk:J Di#Vandalism??). jd || talk || 09:42, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are not in a position to 'tell' me what to do. Just who do you think you are at all?. O.K. I will start a new discussion, but I daresay you will be in there like a shot to censor anything that you don't like the sound of...won't you, 'J'?.

Why do you keep pointing out that my name begins with a J? Anyway, I don't edit other peoples' comments. If I don't like something you say, I'll say so. jd || talk || 10:08, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Wikiproject BB[edit]

Hi, Godgoddingham333. According to this page, you are a member of the Big Brother WikiProject. It would appear, perhaps because Big Brother isn't airing in Australia, the United Kingdom, or the United States at the moment, that activity on Big Brother-related articles has died down quite a bit. Between seasons is a good time to be editing Big Brother-related articles as this is probably the only time where Wikipedians can focus on the articles that seem to have been forgotten about without too many Big Brother-related distractions. There are a few articles just waiting to be worked on, and proposed article changes on the Project talk page that have received little feedback. Nobody is forced to do anything as a Project member, but please try to edit whatever Big Brother articles you can and help with the WikiProject's aim - to make the Big Brother articles the best that they can be! Thanks. jd || talk || 20:55, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi JD. The only reason I'm contributing a hell of a lot less is because I'm at boarding school now and we get very little free time to use the internet, and when we do, our usage is considerably restricted. Sorry about this, but it's my GCSE year and all, and I really have no time inbetween work, drama, music and sport. Sorry about this, but as they say, "C'est la vie..." godgoddingham 333 14:45, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Screenshots[edit]

Any Microsoft software screenshot that complies with these criteria [1] are used with permission. Don't orphan images and then delete them as fair use. If you find a MS screenshot with the wrong use tag, fix it. SchmuckyTheCat 18:33, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The images are tagged as being on Wikipedia under fair use, and fair use images cannot be used on talk pages. The images also weren't being used in any articles, another violation of the fair use policy. jd || talk || 18:43, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't care what they are tagged with. If they are tagged wrong, fix the tags. We have permission to use MS screenshots. SchmuckyTheCat 18:54, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going by the fair use tag that is currently on that image, and that makes the image a fair use violation. You uploaded the image, so it would be more ideal if you changed the tag to something more appropriate. The image is currently an unused fair use image, and because of this it violates fair use. Wikipedia policy shouldn't be ignored because Microsoft gives you permission to use the image, which you aren't actually doing. jd || talk || 18:57, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Are you paying attention? I did change the copyright template. SchmuckyTheCat 19:07, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You haven't replaced the tag, you've only added another. The image is still tagged as being a copyrighted fair use image. Do not reinsert the image into talk pages. jd || talk || 19:25, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
After explaining to you that all MS images are used with permission, not fair use, you refused to fix it yourself and continued to belligerently remove the image from other places. After the image was correctly tagged, you moved on to a totally different image with the same problem. You know there isn't actually a problem with the image except a slightly incorrect tag. That's just plain rude and annoying. Knock it off. SchmuckyTheCat 19:57, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's not my job to change the copyright tag of an image that I didn't upload, especially if I know next to nothing about it. I didn't move onto another image; the image I "moved on to" is one of the images I removed in my first edit. I saw a problem with the image, and I rectified the problem. You made the situation worse by continually reverting my edits instead of properly discussing it with me. I would have been more than willing to discuss the problems with you if your messages didn't appear to be so demanding and hostile. I would not intentionally cause disruption unless I feel I was acting in the best interests of this encyclopaedia and was not violating policy in doing so. Calling warnings and other messages I have placed on your talk page idiocy and removing them also does not help. Please review your own actions before criticising mine. jd || talk || 20:24, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for repairing[edit]

Thanks for tweaking the Big Brother Housemates endgame template. Now I can see the list. I also see that you have also modified the infobox in the Pinoy Big Brother (season 1) article. Will you do that in the Celebrity Edition article, too? - 上村七美 | talk 00:45, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help requested[edit]

Hi

I'm writing to you - and others - because you are one of several people who appears to have experienced the same thing as I have noticed and experienced.

Namely a pattern of vandalism by an anonymous user. The IP # is 66.229.10.64

See this user's talk page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:66.229.10.64

This user has been temporarily blocked several times. I notice that the pattern is the same.

The person doesn't seem to respond to polite community requests to engage in dialogue - or to desist from repeatedly making edits that several editors consider to be vandalism.

I am not that experienced in these matters but can there be an attempt made to block this user permanently? Or at least for a period of time so that the person gets a message about respecting the community. Thanks. Davidpatrick 03:14, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please use edit summaries when you make edits, otherwise your edits are going to keep getting reverted as vandalism. I would also like to ask where this information about Sky's baby is from, as this has not been aired in any episodes. jd || talk || 12:40, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop reinserting information about this fictional person's unborn child without first telling me where it is from. The endless reverts are very disruptive to Wikipedia, but you have not said anything to suggest that this information is from a reputable source. Please tell me, and I can stop reverting your edits. Thanks. jd || talk || 12:53, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi this is a message regarding Sky Mangels (neighbours) page editing, you may be skeptical regarding the information about her unborn child but I assure you it is from a reliable source please visit this page http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/2622/sbabyft3.jpg
and if you can please re-paste the information I posted earlier it will be much appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.50.176.115 (talkcontribs) 13:07, October 21, 2006
Ah, I thought that may be where the text was from, but this now creates another problem. Wikipedia cannot accept text from other sources, and the text you put in the Sky Mangel article looks more or less like the text from the TV Week scan you've linked to. Because of this, I am unable to revert the article to your edit. The text is here in the article's revision history, and you are more than welcome to put this information back into the article in your own words, but if you do, please change the tense so that it doesn't give the impression that the baby has already been born. I will however revert my edits on the other articles where you've added Kerry Mangel as a child or relative of other characters. I'm sorry about the inconvenience this causes. jd || talk || 13:15, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re [4][edit]

I realize that including TFD tags in usages of the templates is somewhat inconvenient. However, since the TFD discussion will be closed in several days, it is but a temporary inconvenience. However, if we use "noinclude" tags on the TFD notices, such notices will only appear on the templates' own pages, which few editors visit. Consequently, the number of users participating in the TFD discussion would be drastically reduced, and the templates might be deleted as a result -- which, I venture, would be far more than a mere temporary inconvenience. While the discussion currently seems to favor keeping the templates, I don't think that we should take any chances with it. In a couple of days, the TFD notices will be removed. Merging Australian Idol contestants[edit]

Hi J Di, I noticed you've redirected and merged all the articles on Australian Idol 2006 contestants into Australian Idol 2006. Was there discussion about this? If so, I must have missed it. Nb. This is not meant to sound antagonistic, I am genuinely asking. Cnwb 23:01, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I did ask on Talk:Australian Idol, but as there was only one response I figured the page didn't get that much attention, so I just did it. I haven't merged all of them, just the ones that looked totally non-notable outside Australian Idol. I take it you disagree with the mass merging... jd || talk || 23:05, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you keep removing links from the BB 2006?[edit]

Hi, i keep trying to add a link under dino's name but you keep removing it. Why? The website has a large collection of dino delic photos. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 140.159.2.31 (talkcontribs) 02:37, October 23, 2006 (UTC)

A very Californian RfA thanks from Luna Santin[edit]

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which succeeded with a final tally of (97/4/4)! I've never been able to accept compliments gracefully, and the heavy support from this outstanding community left me at a complete loss for words -- so, a very belated thank you for all of your kind words.

I have done and will continue to do the utmost to serve the community in this new capacity, wherever it may take me, and to set an example others might wish to follow in. With a little luck and a lot of advice, this may be enough. Maybe someday the enwiki admins of the future will look back and say, "Yeah, that guy was an admin." Hopefully then they don't start talking about the explosive ArbComm case I got tied into and oh what a drama that was, but we'll see, won't we?

Surely some of you have seen me in action by now; with that in mind, I openly invite and welcome any feedback here or here -- help me become the best editor and sysop I can be.

Again, thank you. –Luna Santin
Glad to see you're still around. :) The BB articles really wouldn't be the same without you. Luna Santin 12:33, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
