Somaliland

My edit on the Somaliland article was far from point of view. Anyways, British Somaliland never became independent on June 26, but rather on July 1st when it merged with Italian Somaliland, which formed the Somali Republic. Dissolution of Parliament

"When Parliament is dissolved, every seat in the House of Commons becomes vacant. There are no Members of Parliament. MPs revert to being members of the public and lose privileges associated with being a Member of Parliament... Until a new Parliament is elected, there are no MPs. That policy looks to have been changed very recently. If that sticks, you've got a backlog of MP articles to fix.

Northwest Europe map

I feel the map you are adding is POV, showing England as a definite part of northwest Europe but not northern Germany which is at largely the same latitude, top and bottom. On what basis have you determined as such? I have modified the previous map to make no distinction between maximum and minimum extents. However I would be fine with a map showing England, the Netherlands, and northern Germany in the minimum extent, while leaving south Germany, north France, Belgium and Luxembourg in the maximum extent, on the basis of latitude. Possibly even three shades. Minimum, usual, and maximum? Sometimes "Northern Europe" at least only refers to the Nordics, excluding the British Isles entirely. I honestly don't have a POV on a rather obscure, arbitrary division of the countries of Europe, believe me. The reason I changed your map, and later created a "forked" version, is because it contradicts the text of the English article. If you can find a reliable reference that explicitly treats Scotland any different to the rest of the British Isles in regards to this definition, feel free to change the text in the article and revert your new modification. To your suggestion of including the rest of the British Isles, plus the Netherlands and northern Germany in the minimum extent, but leaving out the other low countries and southern Germany, etc, I'm fine with that. That actually fits better with the current article text, so I think that would be more proper. To "minimum, usual and maximum", I think that might be pushing it -- the "minimum" and "maximum" definitions are tenuous enough, considering definitions such as "Northwest Europe" are basically a way of saying "this vague pattern of countries here".

If we are to keep the "minimum" and "maximum" distinction, Iceland might want to be added to "minimum", and (even) possibly Switzerland (but that might make the north Germany and north France line look rather starkly arbitrary) to "maximum". Also statistical significance vastly higher than regular polls, as the only parameter is regretters, where the confidence interval is small (i.e. high confidence). Changes in majority

Please don't remove these. They may not mean much (though a seat moving from apparently safe to very marginal or vice versa could be interesting), but they are found in standard reference works such as Craig, and N/A is simply inaccurate unless the current or previous election was uncontested. Northern England map

Hi, thanks for the map of the historical counties of Northern England - it's a useful addition. I've kept it in, but I've also restored the "gateways" image. Point is not just to show those branded as gateways by councils, but to show where different people draw the lines (Richmond is MUCH further north than Watford Gap, for instance). Tyne and Wear ethnicity

I think the ethnicity data I provided on Tyne and Wear is correct. I know it does not provide a direct reference but the site I gave, UK census data, is correct as it gives the same figures as ONS. The reference from the Guardian states that for example, the the borough of Gateshead was 92.9% white british in 2011 when the correct percentage was as recorded in the same census as 94% as stated by ONS. Maybe the section should be deleted as no direct or reliable reference can be provided.--2.26.154.89 (talk) 17:50, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

I've changed to the more reliable ONS report on the 2011 census for the numbers. [1] provides the exact numbers across the former county for the various racial groups (scroll down to "Download (.csv)" -> in the drop down select "former metropolitan county" -> "Download"). I worked out the percentages from there, a lot more reliable than jury-rigging the individual borough statistics together. --Inops (talk) 19:06, 19 May 2018 (UTC)

Cpqueeley89, ITV not offering episodes online doesn't affect the tense we use for the show. Please see WP:TVLEAD, particularly

References to the show, and its characters and locations, should always be in the present tense, as the show will still exist even after it is no longer airing new episodes (e.g. "The Dick Van Dyke Show is a...").

Edits to Assembly/Senedd pages

Hi @Inops:. I appreciate you are entitled to your opinion about best practice for the pages National Assembly for Wales constituencies and electoral regions, and I will not be reverting them thus causing more confusion. However the name change and the other contents of the Senedd and Elections (Wales) Act 2020 will take effect in May 2020, not 2021 as you stated. Please see that article for an explanation. This was the basis for my edit, as it is clear these articles will need renaming in nearly three months time, and in my view Wikipedia should reflect the law as passed in January. In re 2021, yes that was me misremembering. But still, as you say, it's still the "Assembly" for a few months yet, so it makes sense to keep that for the time being. The relevant provisions of the Act aren't in effect, so the legislature hasn't actually been renamed yet.

With regards to the discussion you've started on us using "Welsh Parliament" or "Senedd Cymru", I imagine a consensus will develop on which one to use closer to the time. Given the media's usage I've seen so far, simply calling it the "Senedd" (a la "Oireachtas") seems most likely to me. --Inops (talk) 23:45, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

Hi @Aku-PDF-Finder:. Can't say I've tried Solus. I've heard of it, though. I distro-hopped quite a bit until about five years ago, when I settled on Arch. It was good fun seeing the differences in distros, and how they're built. I switched to Debian a couple years ago because its the most similar to the machines I use most of the time at work. If I ever sour on Debian, I'll be sure to give Solus a look.
