External links[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm TheRedPenOfDoom. I wanted to let you know that I removed an external link you added to the page Fleetwood, because it seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 15:04, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

May 2013[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Lytham St Annes with this edit. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate may links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. (tJosve05a (c) 15:16, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Poulton-le-Fylde with this edit. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Thank you.  FrostedΔ14  15:21, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

All - Understand your comments, but this website is a high traffic resource for vistors and locals alike. Yes they are our websites, but the information is accurate, up to date and informative. We are independent, but work closely with local authority and the main players in Blackpool (eg Marketing Blackpool). I have added 7 ext links (Fylde Coast / Poulton-Le-Fylde / Fleetwood / Cleveleys / Lytham St Annes / Blackpool). Cleveleys.co.uk is one example of an external link of a similar nature to mine, except this one has 'out of date' information and product sales. Please take time to reconsider and let me know the outcome. Ilivebythesea (talk) 17:33, 12 May 2013 (UTC) Just read the guidelines and believe the above links should be re-instated. These website are run by TheRabbitPatch Ltd and conforms to: Is the site content accessible to the reader? Is the site content proper in the context of the article (useful, tasteful, informative, factual, etc.)? Is the link functioning and likely to remain functional? I can also guarantee that they have longevity as they will become an integral part of the marketing of the area by local authority groups. Marketing Blackpool are integrating the 'live' aspect of the website into their own website. The content is both of historical interest, current news, and an invaluable resource for the local community. Happy to listen to your contra arguments if appropriate.[reply]
