Shipwreck lists[edit]

When you break out text from a year list into a new month list, you need to use {{copied}} on that new month lists' talk page. An example of this can be seen at Talk:List of shipwrecks in February 1846. This is to comply with WP:ATTRIBUTION and copyright rules. Mjroots (talk) 19:44, 21 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ah - thanks. I knew there was a template - I just couldn't find it or remember what it was called. Grutness...wha? 21:40, 21 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please add the template to the relevant talk pages? Mjroots (talk) 05:15, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sure - when you posted the info above I assumed you'd done it before coming across to tell me. Grutness...wha? 08:55, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

David Harris (software developer) ‎[edit]

David Harris (software developer) ‎ has been AfD'd. The article is a bit short on detail and as you were the originator, I wondered if you had any further information that could be added. David still seems to be active, but I have been unable to find much more about him. NealeFamily (talk) 09:44, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you[edit]

now on user page
Thank you! I'm glad it was appreciated! Grutness...wha? 02:10, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Although I still think it could be merged somewhere (perhaps a page about all Otago's regions), my WP:BEFORE search missed something crucial as Whitepages-like and WP:ROUTINE coverage were mostly turning up (sources were just buried). It does help to find the right sources when you know about the subject (I saw some NZ stuff on your userpage). At least something constructive came out of the AFD.—Mythdon (talkcontribs) 02:29, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
True - that page has needed work for a while. Merging into an Otago page would have been possible, but some of the other sections of the region - especially Central Otago - are definitely big enough topics that they would overbalance that article. As to knowing the subject, I live in Dunedin, Otago, and used to live in Milton, only about 40km from Tapanui. There's quite a lot of print-only information on the subject which is far easier to find here! Grutness...wha? 03:10, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. I tried suggesting a merge at WT:NZ first (where I also mentioned possibly AFDing), but did a WP:BEFORE search myself when that discussion became stale. Any outcome was fine as long as something constructive came out of it (To be honest I actually hoped someone would find something that I might've missed). The problem with AFDing articles is that sometimes it takes AFD for some articles to get fixed, but on the other hand, it's also a good thing that articles can be kept, merged or redirected at AFD. Trying to save articles from AFD is just as important as deleting articles, which definitely happened in this case.—Mythdon (talkcontribs) 17:37, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I know what you mean. I've taken stuff to AfD before now half in the hope that someone will know what to do to fix it. It's almost a sort of last warning - "fix this or else". Grutness...wha? 03:09, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be possible to simply redirect Rocket Labs to Rocket Lab as it previously stood? Eddie891 Talk Work 16:17, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely. That's probably be the best solution. Grutness...wha? 01:19, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tou amended a category in the item "Wren's Day" from "Winter events in Ireland" to "Winter events in the Republic of Ireland". The distinction is irrelevant in the context of the kind of folk event this item describes, as the Wren day is (or used to be) celebrated throughout the island. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ohuanam (talkcontribs) 15:31, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Good lord, that was 13 years ago. The sources I used to make it should be obvious though - I'll try to work them out. See also the note further up this page. Grutness...wha? 01:25, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
