Disambiguation link notification for August 22[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited 2011 in American soccer, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Orange County Waves (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Orphaned non-free media (File:SacrementoSurgeLogo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:SacrementoSurgeLogo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

The article Reid Schmitt has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and has not played in a fully pro league.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Mikemor92 (talk) 01:19, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Reid Schmitt for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Reid Schmitt is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Reid Schmitt until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Mikemor92 (talk) 07:43, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tucson Extreme[edit]

While I'll concede that the Tucson Extreme website and lack of Facebook page make it appear that Tucson has quietly imploded, do you have a reliable source for this edit removing them from the list of expansion teams? If so, I'd like to use it to update the Tucson Extreme article. If not, on what do you base your assertion that the club has folded? - Dravecky (talk) 08:27, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Groucho, this is Sparty1301, I'm just wondering where you got the 4-3 score for Detroit City FC vs AFC Cleveland. The correct score was 3-1 Detroit City FC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sparty1301 (talkcontribs) 03:32, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sparty1301. I thought I typed in a 3-1 score too. Must have got it confused with the South region score RVA FC over Jacksonville FC 4-3. Thanx for the correction.GrouchoPython (talk) 03:59, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

PDL division standings templates?[edit]

Thanks for contributing the excellent 2014 PDL conference standings tables. I'd like to include just the Mountain Division standings in the 2014 FC Tucson season article which would require creation of sub-templates for each division. What do you think? I would be happy to break them all out but thought I would ask you what you think as you are the creator and have been making all the updates.

Usually, I would wait until the season was over and paste the division table in the article. But if you can add a self-updating sub-template to the page, go right ahead. And thanx.GrouchoPython (talk) 16:00, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I hope the new break-out isn't too painful to update. I floated the [v t e] links for each division on the right to get them out of the way.Gatomasgordo (talk) 17:38, 22 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

USL Tie Breaking Criteria[edit]

The USL Pro standings table has listed that GD is the 2nd tiebreaker criteria after points; however the USL's official standings seems to use pts, Wins, GD, instead. (Thus Wilmington is ahead because they have 8 wins while Rochester only has 7 even though Rochester has a better GD). Do you know if this is documented? If it is we should update the template so that it properly reflects the this criteria. --Trödel 14:23, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The 2014 USL Pro Media Guide (available online) Tie-Breaker procedure says this:

Standings tiebreakers

The breaking of ties in the final league standings, playoffs and finals is accomplished by applying the following criteria, listed in order of importance:

The following two guidelines will be followed during the implementation of USL tiebreakers for all ties involving three or more teams:

1) The tiebreaker will determine the winner first.

2) The tiebreaker will continue to be followed in order to determine the ranking of the remaining teams without restarting from the beginning.

1) Head-to-head record based on total points in league games

2) Total wins in league games

3) Goal difference in league games

4) Goals scored in league games

5) Total points within smallest grouping. If number of games is unequal, then point percentage will be used.

6) Ranking based on points earned against top four group finishers. This tiebreaker will not be used if four or fewer teams comprise the group. If number of games is unequal, then point percentage applies.

7) Point percentage outside/smallest division or conference in League games

8) Total points in all regular season and Open Cup Qualifying games combined. If number of games is unequal, then point percentage applies

9) FIFA Fair Play – Team with fewest disciplinary points in League games. (If number of games is unequal, points will be divided by games played to arrive at a common basis for comparison.)

10) Lottery conducted by USL at league office Point Percentage: number of total points earned / maximum possible points (3 per game)

  • Should more than two teams involved have played each other an UNEQUAL number of times, this tiebreaker will be skipped.
  • Group: term used to describe the primary unit in which a team competes (i.e. PDL – Southwest Division)
  • Point Percentage: number of total points earned / maximum possible points (3 per game)

So it seems to me that Head-to-Head result is the first tie-breaker. The legend should be changed on the USL Pro standings template, but I don't know how.GrouchoPython (talk) 14:46, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Someone else and I both updated the tie-breaker criteria in the footer. :) --Trödel 00:02, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion RE the US Soccer Leagues[edit]

I'm letting you know that there has been a discussion regarding the US Pyramid: Talk:United States soccer league system#ASL's place in the pyramid. I probably stepped in it by adding ASL without researching that league at all; however, the broader discussion of how to order the leagues that are not sanctioned by USSF is also being included. Would love to hear input from frequent editors of the lower division league and club pages. Thx --Trödel 20:02, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

USL (soccer)[edit]

I think we should avoid linking to USL (soccer) for now because it is likely that the United Soccer League (2010) will be moved and then all the USL (soccer) links will become double redirects and not work. --Trödel 14:11, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Some content you contributed to is being considered for discussion for destruction at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2018 February 3 Trackinfo (talk) 08:00, 4 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 2012 FC Tucson season requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:National Premier Soccer League logo 2016.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:National Premier Soccer League logo 2016.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, bot-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:04, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2019 Phoenix Rising FC season moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, 2019 Phoenix Rising FC season, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. I've been searching, but the communications department of LAFC isn't putting out enough information for the media to pickup. I had this as a stand-alone page on Wikipedia for at least one month before the editors pulled it back and made it a draft. Roberto221 (talk) 09:56, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Brazos Valley v Twin City Toucans[edit]

@GrouchoPython I wanted to comment on your recent change of team names on the USL League Two article. I saw something (I don't remember what) that suggested Brazos Valley changed Twin City Toucans at the beginning of the year too, but when you go to USL2 website it still lists the team as Brazos Valley. If you have a resource to show the name change it would be great. Otherwise I think USL2 still considers them Brazos Valley. Demt1298 (talk) 17:18, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@GrouchoPythonThank You for adding the reference. Demt1298 (talk) 22:49, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

2023 USL League Two and NPSL Season[edit]

Hello, This is Logan Z Man 2022! I was wondering if you could check the tables and the inforbox for the 2023 USL League two season as well as help with the table for the 2023 NPSL Season. Please respond as soon as possible. Sincerely, Logan Z Man 2022! Logan Z Man 2022! (talk) 21:06, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've completed the update on the 2023 National Premier Soccer League page (including the infobox). I'll work on the 2023 USL League Two season page now.```` GrouchoPython (talk) 05:25, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You messed up the NPSL season page by putting incorrect playoff information and messing up team names. In the future, please don't do this. ColeTrain4EVER (talk) 23:47, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
2023 USL League two season is updated also.```` GrouchoPython (talk) 07:01, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
when I asked you to update the 2023 NPSL Season page, I didn't mean remake all the tables and undo some of the work me and a friend were doing. All I asked were updates to the scores and standings and inboxes. I noticed quite a few errors. I don't mean to come across as rude but with the NPSL we do the standings differently. Logan Z Man 2022! (talk) 01:52, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fine. I won't touch it anymore. It's pretty obvious I don't know what I'm doing.```` GrouchoPython (talk) 01:56, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't saying you can't. me and Coletrain are saying please be careful next time. Logan Z Man 2022! (talk) 02:25, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for December 13[edit]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2024 USL Championship season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Wilmer Cabrera.

(Opt-out instructions.) --DPL bot (talk) 06:02, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The three articles listed in the disambiguation page do not have birth dates as part of the article titles, so I don't see any error. GrouchoPython (talk) 10:19, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Interest in an unofficial USL project/group[edit]

Hey, I've noticed you edit quite a few USL pages and so I wanted to mention that I started an unofficial USL editor project/group in one of my userpages. Letting it be a collective place to chart out projects that folks interested in USL can work on individually or collaboratively.

Feel free to edit the page(s) with your own goals or just use it as a reference point for anything you may want to work on.

If nothing else, I appreciate all the edits you do! Happy holidays! Christiangamer7 (talk) 19:17, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
