Hi there!

hi there..i'm a newbie here..hoping for your cooperation in the future..thank you in advance,,;)

Caught me!

Nice job catching me for vandalizing the vandalism page. Hilarious. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.112.73.40 (talk) 20:24, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

For reverting vandalism on my user page - 11 days ago, but I just noticed it now - and didn't want it to pass without a hearty "THANK YOU!". ¡Muchas gracias! Carlossuarez46 04:50, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re: Request for admin coaching

Hi, I'm GorillaWarfare and am hoping to receive some coaching to become an admin. If you'd like to coach me, please leave a message on my talk page. You can see my edit count here but don't be surprised when you see that I have 25 edits. That is because I recently forgot the password to my old account, User:Theunicyclegirl. Here is my edit count from my old account. I almost have 2000 edits. I frequently revert vandalism by watching Lupin's filtered RCs. I also like to expand stubs, particularly those relating to cats or dogs. I am very good with user warning templates and speedy deletion templates. I sometimes respond on AFD. Thanks for considering me! --GorillaWarfare talk 16:53, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be glad to help you out. Let me know what you need, and I'll do my best to explain it. As for the loss of a password, I can only suggest you add your e-mail as soon as possible to your preferences on your current account. That said, if you would rather have your edits from your previous account attached to your username, I suggest you look at Wikipedia:Changing username, where you can have your old account renamed on top of this one, or to whatever you want. Feel free to reply on my talk page, or e-mail me if you have any further questions. -Mysekurity 17:14, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for the suggestion regarding the account problem. I'll definitely try it. Thanks for deciding to help me. I have two main questions:
  1. Do I look like I could pass RfA right now?
  2. If not or if you're unsure, what can I do to strengthen my request?

--GorillaWarfare talk 17:17, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As is typically the case with these questions, I prefer to talk via e-mail. Please e-mail me at [Mysekurity+wiki] (minus brackets) at gmail.com, and I'll be happy to discuss further. -Mysekurity 17:27, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
Erm, well, I hope this isn't too inconvenient, but I don't have email -- I much prefer this type of communication. --GorillaWarfare talk 17:33, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, I have to go offline for a couple of hours. I will resume this conversation when I return. =D --GorillaWarfare talk 17:36, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You have a Wiki account but no e-mail? For shame! Seriously, in order to be actually helpful, I need to write things I wouldn't in an open space such as this. If you get the chance, please sign up for a free e-mail account (from Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo). It'll only take a few seconds, and you can dispose of it after we finish talking. Thanks and enjoy the fresh air, -Mysekurity 17:44, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to reiterate what Mysekurity said. You'll need an email account to be an admin, and there's lots of free webmail. My email account contains no more information than can be found about me on Wikipedia, and the address doesn't have to appear on Wikipedia for folks to send you mail anyway. -- SCZenz 19:30, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, I honestly can't see what you would possibly need to tell me that you couldn't on English wiki. If you want you could always post it in a hidden message like <!--hi--> or something so it wouldn't be so visible. But perhaps I'm just being naïve. If it is absolutely positively necessary and completely unavoidable then I'll see what I can do... --GorillaWarfare talk 11:13, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Comment tags don't help anything. They just make it non-visible to anyone who doesn't know how to read wikimarkup (which doesn't help us at all). I really don't see why creating a free webmail account is that difficult. I don't want to get off to a bad start, so please help me out a little here. -Mysekurity 19:02, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
In the interest of firmly stickly my nose ever-so-juttingly where it doesn't belong, why the focus on secrecy if Gorilla/Unicycle has no interest in it? Who are you protecting? To what end? If she's perfectly OK with you saying, "You're an idiot," on the 'pedia for everyone to see, that's her business, isn't it? Jouster  (whisper) 12:59, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Old Account Access

Per Help:Logging_in#What_if_I_forget_the_password.3F, there is not a process whereby you could gain access to your old account, nor (AFAIK) a set of privileges whereby anyone on the 'pedia could reset your password or provide an email address for it even if there were such a process. They could conceivably usurp you to your old account name, but they will not, as that would violate policy. Your only hope, then, is to contact a developer (preferably one with shell access, as I believe only they have access to the SQL backend) and ask him or her to add an email address to your old account, presumably after doing the developer equivalent of a CheckUser. Request for adoption

Greetings,

I'm a newbie in search of adoption. Recently, I expanded a stub and provided references. I hope you could give it a peer review. Also, I will need a mentor for an article that I will create from scratch.

Many thanks ahead of time,

What was my comment to you which not very nice?

Sorry if I offended you, GorillaWarfare, but that probably came at a time when there was a wholesale attack on the Echo Park, Silverlake, Highland Park, Los Feliz, Angelino Heights, Atwater Village, Elysian Valley etc, sections of Wikpedia by XTC'd-out yuppies intent on rewriting our neighborhoods real and ancient history and replacing it with gibberish. You probably got caught in the cross-fire....again, I apologize. garagehero- —Preceding unsigned comment added by Garagehero (talkcontribs) 07:44, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey whatsup? Nice userpage, it’s really stylish (and colorful). Anyway, I got this wiki account for over a year now and created 2 articles, but I’m kind of clueless about how to get started and what I should do to get to certain positions. I noticed on the adoption page that you are adopting users, so I was wondering if I am eligible as a candidate. Building an encyclopedia

I;m speechless. Did you not see the notice at the top of my talk page?? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 17:48, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nor would I normally attack the problem like this either, believe you me. 99% of new articles I would normally create would at least have an infobox and information -surely you would know an editor like myself wouldn't creating some pointlessly (as it seems). As an outside editor if I saw somebody else creating a lot of stubs in this way I;d ask them to try to elaborate a little too. Such is the extent of the task that stubbing in bot mode is the best way to get them onto wikipedia when they have been lagging five years behind other smaller wikipedias. Its gonna take an enromous amount of work but eventually I see know reason why these several thousand articles can't all become fully developed with images eventually and then people will beign to realise that what I am doing is very beneficial in the long term ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 17:55, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you doubt my ability to provide articles that "help people" try reading articles I have authored like Abbas Kiarostami and Deforestation in Brazil and yesterday Cinema of Kenya. Regards ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 18:06, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is a WikiProject French communes which specifically aims to develop these -hopefully they can continue where I left off. All that stands between these new stubs and full flourishing articles is work. Given time I believe it is possible to build a fuller coverage on wikipedia. 9/10 of France is uncovered on wikipedia and many of the places have a fascinating history etc, and a lot that can be written about them. One of my core aims on wikipedia is to open up parts of the world that had never been seen or heard of before (by the vast majority of us) and try to build the best guide to it we possibly can. I mostly work on articles related to south east asia. africa and latin america -the so called "dark zones" which I want to receive equal coverage as anywhere else in the world. I've been creatgin articles like Akwidaa to open this up - and make some flickr agreement to get pictures ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 19:23, 26 January 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Your request for rollback

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Happy editing! Unblock Request

unblocking text - This account gets blocked whenever I'm at [[2]], even when I log in on this account. --GorillaWarfare talk 14:33, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. Syrthiss (talk) 14:56, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

as a white guy, "european American" is an offensive term. frankly its a sad commentary on the state of the world that we have to resort to such overcompensatory crap to describe one another. CANUCOPIA

Hi GorillaWarfare,

I have edited my new article describing CANUCOPIA. I understand that I should contact you to address the Speedy Deletion nomination that has been applied to it.

I have changed the capitalisation as you have advised.

I have also revised the text, to improve the Context.

Finally I removed my contact details.

I hope that this helps.

Regards,

Pschuit (Peter Schuitemaker)

Hi GoriilaWarfare,

I think I understand what you mean.

CANUCOPIA is my new word and thus has few references on Google. I am now this word to describe and visuaise a different style of the CORNUCOPIA, which has been history adopted to represent an abundant selection of food at time of a good harvest.

A metaphorical image of the availability of an abundant selection of "food" for the mind (food for thoughtBold text, if you like) could have been the image of the Cornucopia, but the idea using labelled vessels (cans) seemed to me to be a more powerful metaphor, which also will allow me to explain, the importance or relevance of each can.

Further explanations and ideas of applications my " work in progress".

I also could not find any references to this, as an idea. This is precisely why I wanted to add this word and it's explanation (the Article) to Wikipedia, so that it now exists and will prompt more consideration of this concept.

At this stage, I guess that I can't do much more, other than to continue to work on my CANUCOPIA Book, so that the word will hopefully become established. Even the pronouncing of the word itself and sounding it out as, " CAN YOU COPE ea" gives clues to what my further work on the book will try to address, ie improving coping skills.

Thanks you for your prompt response. Please continue to consider my concept and its worthiness for inclusion in Wikipedia.

Hi GorillaWarfare, just leaving you a quick note to let you know that I've removed the warning that you added to user talk:Cubbzeek. The page Turbo-charged killer hambot's had been tagged under G3, however, the creator then removed the tag, upon which you added a G1 tag, this would be fine, except that twinkle then went a re-warned the user, when a {{uw-speedy}} would have been more appropriate. Let me know if you have an questions, and thanks for your work in NPP. Kindest regards, SpitfireTally-ho! 17:22, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No prior AfD can be found under this name or any variant. It was speedied, but may be re-created becuase no discussion took place. editing minor details

Hi Gorilla Warfare, I just want know if it's okay for agents of artists to make minor details on this site. I'm the agent for Eliza Wang and Debora Ying and I'm adding their names under famous alumni under all the schools they have attended. What kind of verifications do I need to prove that what I am posting on this site is valid?

I will further put up their "Page" which will describe who they are in details.

If you could you could take more care next time you tag a new article for Wikipedia:CSD#A1 speedy delete. Your tag was placed the moment Patch (Website) article was created and while the article was under development. The author was a new user and apparently not aware of the certain template(s) that could of been added to the article to avoid misunderstanding. "A good rule of thumb is to wait until at least 15 minutes after the last edit before tagging the article." The 15 minutes may only be a courtesy, but this can allow for enough time to view if the article is going in significant direction.

Note: articles should not be tagged for speedy deletion as having no context (CSD A1) or no content (CSD A3) moments after creation." - Special:NewPages

On top of that,

Hi GorillaWarfare, im GeneralCheese, im looking for a new userpage template, do you think you can design one for me on a sandbox?--Written by GeneralCheese 21:17, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello GeneralCheese! Unfortunately, although I designed this one, I didn't code it entirely myself. I can't exactly remember who helped, though, which is bothering me... So no, I don't really think I'm the one for the job. Perhaps try here? Best of luck! -- GorillaWarfare talk 21:25, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Adam Sherrill

Hello GorillaWarfare, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Adam Sherrill - a page you tagged - because: There is an indication of importance - use AfD to pursue deletion. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. decltype (talk) 22:22, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, thank you for letting me know. It seemed to me to be worth of a SD, but I see now why you disagree. Thank you! -- GorillaWarfare talk 04:19, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, my rule of thumb is to use WP:PROD or WP:AFD if in doubt. Being the first to cross a river (and some other stuff) weakly indicates importance - enough to pass WP:CSD#A7. Does it also make the person notable? Maybe not, but that's for AfD to decide. Regards, decltype (talk) 04:38, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I see what you mean now. Thanks so much! -- GorillaWarfare talk 04:47, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Huggle

Since I notice you use Lupin's tool and have rollback rights, I thought you'd like to try out Huggle. It is much faster that Lupin's tool and allows you to warn and revert with a click of the mouse. Cheers, Mikemoral♪♫ 21:15, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bill Russell Rings

You sent me a message about when i edited the "NBA most championship rings" page. Bill Russell only has 9 rings as a player and in the top of the page it states that you are only counting rings as a player, yet you list championship 10 and 11 which he won as a COACH as ones he won as a player. Same Jones should be moved to number 1 with his 10 rings as a player. This information is wrong and should be changed accordingly to keep wikipedia as accurate as possible. It also bothers me to see miss-information out there Thanx —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.2.133.184 (talk) 04:16, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I understand why you added the note, but in a case like that, you should either just change the information (see WP:BOLD) or you should post a note like that on the talk page. Also, when you post on a talk page, please remember to sign your posts by adding ~~~~ at the end. Thanks! -- GorillaWarfare talk 04:53, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

alright.

you mean for using my brain. it is not something that you should thank people for, it is something that is expected of everyone if they are to become and/or are responsible for something.

Well I think it still deserves a thank you... Also, please sign your posts by typing ~~~~. Have you considered getting an account? See WP:Why create an account? -- GorillaWarfare talk 01:18, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reversion of vandalism on Graham Norton

Thanks for your reversion of the vandalism by Stripeyshirt100000 on the Graham Norton article. Could I ask a favour in future, though? If you see edits like that which include a valid phone number (which may or may not be Graham Norton's) or any other personal information which has obviously been added without the owner's consent, please could you ask for Oversight on the edit? That removes the edit from public view - otherwise the phone number (or whatever) is still visible in the edit history. Just email the request, including the diff, to oversight-l@lists.wikimedia.org and they'll take care of it, usually in a matter of seconds. Take a look at the edit history of Graham Norton to see what Oversight has done in this case. Looks like the stripey-shirted vandal has made a habit of posting people's personal information, if you check out their contributions! Cheers, Tonywalton Talk 01:25, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen him post that same phone number on several different pages, so I'm assuming it's not an actual phone number. Is the policy the same nonetheless? -- GorillaWarfare talk 01:28, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's a valid-looking UK mobile/cell phone number (per http://www.ukphoneinfo.com/locator.php it's allocated to Vodafone, and the number's the right length, so it may well be someone's number). I see his edit to George Clooney has also been oversighted, probably for the same reason (though obviously I can't see the edit). The other edits don't seem to include personal information - which are these other pages? Tonywalton Talk 01:33, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, I don't see anymore but I could have sworn there were at least three... I'll go through all my other reverts and check that it wasn't in one of them. Thank you for the help! -- GorillaWarfare talk 01:37, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, thanks for your help! If it's someone adding the same number it looks like sockpuppetry. Reporting a sockpuppet is a bit involved so please do let me know if different users are doing this and I'll set the wheels in motion. Tomorrow - it's 1:40AM here so I'm going to kip! Turns out it's just me being crazy. Guess I imagined it. Thanks! -- GorillaWarfare talk 01:42, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cobalt Ont.

To who it may concern

I am deeply offended that you chose to delete my report on Kevan Walls achievement. It does not appear that you conducted any research whatsoever on this topic, you simply decided to delete it. I am glad that all editors are not like you.

Sincerely

There seems to be a Kevin Wall in Ontario, but I see no mention of a burger-eating contest. Even still, doing so on the spot and not as part of an organized competition is unlikely to it the WP:Notability guidelines. If you can show me a WP:Verifiable source, I will be happy to change the edit back. Also, perhaps you should see WP:No personal attacks, as your accusations are inflammatory. Also, please sign your posts by typing ~~~~ at the end. Thank you! GorillaWarfare talk 02:51, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I had an issue with the same editor. You might be interested in reading his response on my talk page. Also, I noticed that you enjoy stagecraft. So greetings from a fellow techie! Funnyfarmofdoom (talk) 04:05, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes, I see. Thank you for the heads up! Well I suppose it'll go as it goes. It seems his editing has calmed down for the night, at least. And cool, nice to see another of my kind on here! March 2010

Hello, I noticed the message you've sent me about adding copyrighted material to the SOCOM 4 page. I am interested to know which section of the page it is because I'm rather certain that I did not do such a thing on purpose perhaps it was accidental or a misunderstanding. Would you mind clarifying? Thanks.KiasuKiasiMan (talk) 11:22, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Recent message

You have recently posted the following [3] I have no idea what you are on about. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.197.4.25 (talk) 01:55, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edit to Dymaxion house changed several instances of the word "aluminum" to "aluminium". "Aluminum" is a common spelling of this word, mostly in North America. It is widely accepted (even by the [[American Chemical Society[[). See Aluminium#Etymology for more information, if you like. On Wikipedia, we try to respect national varieties of English, discussed on this article: Wikipedia:Manual of Style#National varieties of English. Please don't continue to unnecessarily change between the two variants. Also, in the future, please sign your talk page posts by typing ~~~~ after your message. Thank you, and I apologize for any confusion! -- GorillaWarfare talk 02:03, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the reply. The spelling of 'aluminium' is not a national issue. The use of 'aluminium' is the correct spelling, which has been set by the relevant professional body, The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry. You will see this was noted in the edit summary of Dymaxion House. Equally whilst 'sulphur' is prefered in many countries the IUPAC set the correct spelling as 'sulfur' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.197.4.25 (talk) 02:12, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize, I was unaware of the Wikipedia rules for the use of "aluminium" instead of "aluminum". My mistake, feel free to remove the warning from your talk page if you so choose. -- GorillaWarfare talk 02:22, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK .. thanks. Not wishing to cause offence (or offense!) may I ask that you are a litte less hasty with warnings in the future. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.197.4.25 (talk) 02:26, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I apologize. Also, please sign your posts. And have you considered making an account? -- GorillaWarfare talk 02:28, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There was no mistake, GorillaWarfare. I changed it back to Aluminum myself as well. It is an American spelling in an American subject. Rmhermen (talk) 02:31, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
