Notice

The article Engineering in Fife College has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no indication of meeting notability guidelines. One of several articles created for specific courses at a further education college. Apparent WP:conflict of interest.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. noq (talk) 13:02, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, GordonPFifeColl. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. noq (talk) 13:03, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Childcare at Fife College, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Per your agreement with the stipulation below, I will remove the block. You should comply with WP:COI and WP:PAID very soon on your user page (not "profile") and only make edit requests on article talk pages if you are editing within any conflict of interest you have. 331dot (talk) 11:22, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
For the benefit of the admin reviewing this block, I have no objection to an unblock provided the user undertakes to not write about his college Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:18, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have renamed your account from GordonPFifeColl. Do you agree to the stipulation requested by Jimfbleak? 331dot (talk) 13:40, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've changed my username. I can't make any changes re COI until this is unblocked.— Preceding unsigned comment added by GordonP82 (talkcontribs)
All I need is for you to agree to the stipulation suggested by Jim above. Subsequent comments do not need to be formatted as unblock requests. 331dot (talk) 14:01, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

331dot (talk) 13:40, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I agree to the stipulation in principle. However, there are some things that are incorrect in the main Fife College page, which I can't really wait for other people to correct. So I will fix those inaccuracies when unblocked and then not add any additional pages re: Fife College. Would that be OK?— Preceding unsigned comment added by GordonP82
The most you will be permitted is that you may make a formal edit request on the article talk page, but not edit the article directly- and you may only do that if you comply with WP:COI and WP:PAID first. I see that you work in marketing, the same goes for any other clients you might have. 331dot (talk) 10:26, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I can't edit my profile to comply with COI until I'm unblocked. But it seems I can't get unblocked until I comply with COI.— Preceding unsigned comment added by GordonP82
You just have to agree to the terms the admins are suggesting and you will be unblocked. noq (talk) 10:40, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the terms. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.219.195.17 (talk) 10:42, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please log in to confirm the above comment was made by you. I'll add that you sign comments with ~~~~ (without the tags I have around it) or click the Signature button on the screen(it looks like a scribble) 331dot (talk) 11:17, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia with this username. This is because your username, GordonPFifeColl, does not meet our username policy.
Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:12, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

COI[edit]

You have an obvious conflict of interest and you must declare it. If you work directly or indirectly for an organisation, or otherwise are acting on its behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. If you are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:GordonP82. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=GordonP82|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message.

Also read the following regarding writing an article

  • you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the organisation claims or interviewing its management. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls
  • you must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic.
  • there shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • you must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. You must also reply to the COI request above Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:14, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

April 2019[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. 331dot (talk) 11:23, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
