"One of these was the Assyrian (Nestorian) rebellion of 3-4 September 1924 of Beyt Sebab, which, as indicated above, was itself very much related to the Sheikh Said rebellion". You may be completely correct that the article subject and even its title should be changed, but you need consensus to make such changes. You are the one seeking the change and thus the one who must convince the community that the change is warranted. The image is located on Commons here: [1]. You removed the image from the Morecambe article without an edit comment, so your removal appeared nonconstructive. You can try opening a discussion of the image on the article Talk page to see if you can find a consensus for its removal. Note that the image was uploaded to Commons in 2010 and another editor questioned its subject on the Talk page there in 2017, without result. See [2]. your re-editing of Murder of Dora Bloch page

i was surprised (& dismayed) to see that you'd removed my revisions to the above page because they did "not appear constructive" to you. i disagree with you. in 1976 when dora was murdered, she was perceived simply as an unfortunate old woman. but this p.m., while doing some research, i ran across a family tree on the following page on avshalom feinberg in hebrew: https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%90%D7%91%D7%A9%D7%9C%D7%95%D7%9D_%D7%A4%D7%99%D7%99%D7%A0%D7%91%D7%A8%D7%92 & discovered the facts that i addded to the dora bloch site. i thought it was fascinating information and feel that other wiki readers might think so, too. it makes dora not just one more person murdered by terrorists but a person with an historical past, closely linked to the land of israel and the state of israel.

& even if you don't think the connection with avshalom feinberg and his father is constructive, why remove the links i made to hebrew wiki pages? i've often seen such links, have made some myself, & see no reason not to. if the entity involved has no page in one language but does have a page in another, why not point it out? the worst thing that can happen is that someone won't be interested...

i'd like to ask you to reconsider your edit. i'd appreciate it.

@Fannybriceii: My primary concern was the ill-formed reference to a yetnews website article. That's a formatting issue which can be resolved with a look at a few helpful articles starting with Help:Referencing for beginners (or Help:Introduction to referencing with VisualEditor/1 if you're using the Visual Editor) and perhaps with asking for help at the Teahouse. Also, you've added wikilinks to the Hebrew Wikipedia, which may not be helpful for English-speaking readers not conversant with Hebrew. You might discuss that on the article Talk page to see what the commuity consensus is around linking names to another language version. Well, the problem is that there are no reliable sources for the roster as the only reference ( "2017 IIHF World Championship Division III – Chinese Taipei (Men)") is now a permanent dead link. Hello Glane, as mentioned on the official NDP page, the NDP party sits further left than the Canadian Liberal party, which identifying them as the "far-left" when compared to the already "far-left" policies of the Canadian Liberal party - Is it fitting, unless you feel they fall further right than the Liberal party (Which up until Singh, I would agree)

I don't think your opinion of an edit at irani being WP: Unconstructive is right. The revert is not justified, see WP: Bite. For edits to be WP: disruptive they there needs to "pattern" of multiple edits which are unconstructive. Zadora redirect

A more careful reading of the change I tried to make would have indicated that I flagged it TO YOU to fix not revert. CLEARLY, this re-direct is grossly unfair to any people with the name Zadora with Wikipedia entries. I ask you to simply try to search for Pia Zadora or Stanislav Zadora by searching on ... ZADORA !!! That should not re-direct to the coat of arms but to a page that offers branches to genuine Zadora folks within the encyclopedia AND to the coat of arms (which I'm sure would be a much smaller usage). I gather that my edit on the page was not even read by a human being before it was eliminated. New Page Patrol newsletter May 2022

New Page Review queue March 2022

Hello Glane23,

At the time of the last newsletter (No.26, September 2021), the backlog was 'only' just over 6,000 articles. In the past six months, the backlog has reached nearly 16,000, a staggering level not seen in several years. A very small number of users had been doing the vast majority of the reviews. Due to "burn-out", we have recently lost most of this effort. Furthermore, several reviewers have been stripped of the user right for abuse of privilege and the articles they patrolled were put back in the queue.

Several discussions on the state of the process have taken place on the talk page, but there has been no action to make any changes. The project also lacks coordination since the "position" is vacant.

In the last 30 days, only 100 reviewers have made more than 8 patrols and only 50 have averaged one review a day. There are currently 803 New Page Reviewers, but about a third have not had any activity in the past month. All 859 administrators have this permission, but only about a dozen significantly contribute to NPP.

This means we have an active pool of about 450 to address the backlog. We cannot rely on a few to do most of the work as that inevitably leads to burnout. A fairly experienced reviewer can usually do a review in a few minutes. If every active reviewer would patrol just one article per day, the backlog would very quickly disappear.

If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.

Notice of article re-creation and draft deletion

Hi Glane23, as you're already aware, a lot of new/inexperienced editors of WP — especially in Africa — are always rushing to create articles without proof. Another user by the Gonnym did the same thing here to a a related stub article on an upcoming production in Barbie: Big City, Big Dreams. My point is that the article you helped in deleting/moving to draftspace titled 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification Group I on the simple grounds of proof per notability and verifiability are now in the past. By the end of this day I'm writing to you, you, along with Eagleash will thank me/back me up with providing proofs so as not to re-delete the article. A lot of Africans need this — if not you!! I should have requested deletion at that point but gave whoever created the item another chance by moving it back to draft, where it was submitted twice, without adding sources and declined twice as a result. I note that it has now been declined for a different reason. I also note that you requested deletion for no valid reason and that said request has been refused. Wikipedia does not need an article on a tournament a year in the future, necessarily and does not base its content on what various groups of people might want, but on various valid criteria for the creation of articles. I haven't provided the sourcing yet myself — but apologies for rushing!! I just issued a notice meant for you and the WP admins here. Please don't take what I'm replying to you as a defense against whoever provided the unsourced article info, but I just couldn't stand an article like that moved to draftspace only on sourcing problems/grounds because of the AfC line which states that "worthy drafts take ages to be move to the mainspace." That's why I did that!! And by the way, I have the sources — my last 2 problems until I provide them to show proof are the easing of P2P blocks at my connection and merging those sources into that draft!! Hi there, I'm Betosbetos, and am writing to you on behalf of the edit I made recently on the article called Carmen Maria Gallardo Hernandez that I didn't provide a reliable source for the information I added. I understand this concern but part of the information that I added consists of primary resources (my experience with this person) and their current status as the ambassador of El Salvador in The Netherlands. Nowhere in the article does it state that she was fired for unorderly conduct in France and requested a transfer to the Netherlands, so that's why I am adding this info. I cannot find any sources regarding this fact but it is true because she is the current ambassador of El Salvador as I have visited the place and the official website of the Salvadoran embassy mentions her name. I would like for you to revisit this change as I find that it holds valuable information which the article doesn't provide.

@Betosbetos: Well, Wikipedia's principle of verifiability means that facts in any article need to be supported by reliable sources, not original research. I have no reason to doubt that your own experience is valid, but it is not sufficient to support statements in the article. Find some reliable sources to support the statement(s) you wish to add. Backlog status

At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000 at the end of May.

Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size.

In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).

While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).

TIP – New school articles

Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages. WP:WPSCH/AG has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.

There has been significant discussion at WP:VPP recently on NPP-related matters (Draftification, Deletion, Notability, Verifiability, Burden). Proposals that would somewhat ease the burden on NPP aren't gaining much traction, although there are suggestions that the role of NPP be fundamentally changed to focus only on major CSD-type issues.

Backlog status

After the last newsletter (No.28, June 2022), the backlog declined another 1,000 to 13,000 in the last week of June. Then the July backlog drive began, during which 9,900 articles were reviewed and the backlog fell by 4,500 to just under 8,500 (these numbers illustrate how many new articles regularly flow into the queue). Thanks go to the coordinators Buidhe and Zippybonzo, as well as all the nearly 100 participants. Congratulations to Dr vulpes who led with 880 points. See this page for further details.

Unfortunately, most of the decline happened in the first half of the month, and the backlog has already risen to 9,600. Understandably, it seems many backlog drive participants are taking a break from reviewing and unfortunately, we are not even keeping up with the inflow let alone driving it lower. We need the other 600 reviewers to do more! Please try to do at least one a day.

Coordination

MB and Novem Linguae have taken on some of the coordination tasks. Please let them know if you are interested in helping out. MPGuy2824 will be handling recognition, and will be retroactively awarding the annual barnstars that have not been issued for a few years.

Open letter to the WMF

The Page Curation software needs urgent attention. There are dozens of bug fixes and enhancements that are stalled (listed at Suggested improvements). We have written a letter to be sent to the WMF and we encourage as many patrollers as possible to sign it here. We are also in negotiation with the Board of Trustees to press for assistance. Better software will make the active reviewers we have more productive.

TIP - Reviewing by subject

Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages by their most familiar subjects can do so from the regularly updated sorted topic list.

New reviewers

The NPP School is being underused. The learning curve for NPP is quite steep, but a detailed and easy-to-read tutorial exists, and the Curation Tool's many features are fully described and illustrated on the updated page here.

Stay in one night adas

When Bodana was taking Lord Krishna from Dwarka to Dakor, King Bhojraj Singhji asked him to stay at Adas village for one night, so Bodana understood that if King Bhojraj Singhji convinced him, he would establish the temple of Dakor here, so the sun rose early in the morning. Earlier, Bodana left for Dakor by placing the Lord in that cart. Today there is a temple of Sri Krishna Lord Ranchhodrai in Adas village and it is believed that Lord Ranchhodrai resides here from early morning till 9:00 pm. Hi, are you sure the COI tag should be removed in this case? I know the COI disclosure has been made but the text is likely still problematic. Shouldnt the tag be there until the article is cleaned up? --FMSky (talk) 01:53, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

@FMSky: Sky, I'm not opposed. It was my thought that the disclosure covered the purpose of the COI tag, which was to indicate that a user with a COI as a paid editor had edited the article. Certainly, be my guest to restore it if you think the COI tag is needed or, better yet, review the article to suss out and validate or remove the COI edits. Frankly, I had tried a brief look at the article and I couldn't tell what looked wonky enough to be removed. And hopefully, the COI editor will propose edits on the article Talk page in future, which is what we all recommend when we're asked by such editors about editing the article where they have a conflict. Ballona Wetlands

Hi Geoff,

I left a message for you in the thread as well, but I wanted to provide an additional source showing that the Ballona Wetlands Restoration Project has been in the planning process since 2004, not 2009. Below is a link to a May 27, 2021 staff report of the California Coastal Conservancy, the state agency that is funding the project.

"An extensive planning and public process for the restoration of the Ballona Reserve began in 2004"

"CDFW staff have been working closely on this project with the Conservancy since 2004."

Additionally, the currently cited source makes no reference to the project being "in the works" since 2009.

The timeline of the planning process is highly relevant to the public's understanding of the project. I hope that this and other official agency records are sufficient to change the date in question to 2004, which is when planning for the restoration of the Ballona Wetlands began. Thanks.

I visited the talk page and noticed it hasn't had an entry since 2016. I appreciate editors who are knowledgeable about Wikipedia. I closed this AFD as a Soft Deletion today after it was relisted once because there was only person supporting deletion. Pretty much immediately, an editor went to WP:REFUND to ask for it to be restored which has occurred. Ironically, this AFD, the discussion, deletion and restoration, has led to a wave of new editing on the article and you might want to evaluate it anew if you are thinking about sending it back for a second time to AFD. Foreign language quotations

Hello there, I just wanted to let you know about the Wikipedia policy on foreign language quotations which you can find here. It states: "When editors themselves translate foreign text into English, care must always be taken to include the original text, in italics (except for non-Latin-based writing systems)." Since someone else had already translated the Russian quote on the Schizoid personality disorder page, I was just providing the original quote as per the style guide. Oh I interpreted the style guide to mean not to put the Cyrillic script in italics. It doesn't seem to mean that non-Latin based writing systems shouldn't be quoted, just that they shouldn't be in italics. BlakeALee (talk) 19:21, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

@BlakeALee: Oh my. This is a conundrum almost as great as the placement of commas in the 2nd amendment to the U. S. Constitution! See, e.g., this most interesting article on that subject. I suppose the solution for us here on Wikipedia is to raise the issue on the article's Talk page, no? I read it as "no non-Latin text quotes" while you read it as "quote non-Latin text but not in italics." Maybe it will also be an interesting discussion if we carry it there. Regards! There's no reason non-Latin scripts would be excluded from the guidelines, while there is a reason they wouldn't be italicized (i.e. italics is just not a thing for some scripts). But I asked for clarification anyway.

There's also another issue in regards to that particular edit you made. You removed the quotation formatting along with the original text. This created a close [paraphrase], which is a plagiarism issue. Another editor has since reworded that section, but not enough to remedy it from being too close of paraphrasing.

I think the overall point is that, Wikipedia is for summarizing published sources. When a Wikipedia editor does their own translation of a text, their translation is not a published source. Nor does that editor have a license to translate copyrighted material. That's why it's important to include the actual text when quoting is involved. Now it would've been simpler attribution-wise for the editor who read the Russian original to just summarize the text rather than translate it, because then they could've just had a regular in-text citation. But I guess they wanted to capture some flavor of the text with the translation, or they had enough energy to translate but not to summarize. I don't think the text was remarkable enough that it really warranted a translated quote rather than a summary, but I don't read Russian fluently so I couldn't summarize it accurately myself.

I hope this makes sense? In the future please don't remove the original language from translated quotations, and also don't remove quotation formatting (e.g. indenting) from quotes, even translated quotes, because of copyright. You may of course just remove the entire quotation (original text plus translated quote) itself if you think it's irrelevant, or you may replace it with a summary if you're able to read the source language. RAO (indian caste)

Our society which is known by different names in different regions, Shashanik Rao in Mewar and Godwad, Jagirdar Rao in Marwar, Kshatriya Rao in Khodad, Hadoti and Shekhawati, Rajput Kshatriya Rao in Madhya Pradesh and Bhrambhatta or Barot Rao in Gujarat, and many hideouts which belonged to the royals. He was Dasondi, he also calls himself Dasondi Rao.

Why is it that despite being from the same society, they are called by different names in different places? And how did our caste originate, why and how did they get these different names? Who were our ancestors? what used to do Some such questions come in the mind of all of us.

I will try to answer these questions as much as possible, if there is any mistake, I apologize.

Some stories are prevalent about the origin of our society. First of all, we were born from the yajna performed by Brahmaji, as a warrior to protect the place of his yagya, and by mother Saraswati or Brahmani to breastfeed us, we became warriors as well as knowers of Vedas and scriptures. So called Bhrambhatta in which Bhatt means warrior.

The second story is popular that once upon a time there was a Brahmin caste who gave knowledge of weapons and scriptures to the Kshatriya caste, who were advisors to the Kshatriyas, ministers were politicians, those people left this work due to some reason, then one of the Kshatriya clan The class was chosen which were skilled in weapons and science and they were given huge jagiris, they also started taking care of the royal work and also played the role of advisor to the king and when the time came, they also showed their valor in the battlefield. Such a group of people later turned into a society.

There are more legends, but mainly these two stories are more prevalent, in a similar Yagya, 4 clans of Agnivanshi Kshatriya clan emerged Chauhan, Pratihara, Parmar and Chalukya (Solanki). And we also have 4 descendants of the same original gotra, whose origin is believed to be from the yajna performed by Brahmaji - Vadanga, Vilas, Saar, Sanchera. Later many more gotras were formed from these original gotras, but from where did the tribes which are different from our society come from? So their origin defines this second story to a great extent, for which many evidences are also present in history. Apart from these four original gotras, all the gotras have been made out of some dynasty, this practice lasted for a long time, even in the time of Vikramaditya and Harshavardhana, the main line was by giving the title of Rao to his brother. The responsibility of advisory and state work was assigned and it was done in many places in modern Rajputana too.

Shashank Rainsi of Bambawada had two sons, Kankalji and Koloonji, Kolloon was a leper, for which Kankalji worshiped Kedarnath for years and took away his leprosy, Kankalji was older in age but Koloonji was placed on the throne and Kankalji was given the kingdom. One-tenth of the age of Rao and the title of Rao and some big jagirs were given. Later on, the dynasty of Kowloon ji was called Hada dynasty and due to the defeat of leprosy, the name of Kankal ji's dynasty came to be Kharodiya. Kankal ji's marital relationship was with Bhati dynasty of Jaisalmer, but later on, Shashank changed and the tradition of giving tenth part ended and some jagiris remained, then according to the position and socio-economic status, marital relations started happening today. is inside our society and many of their hideouts are still present in Kota Bundi and Jhalawar region.

A son of Jalore's ruler Kanhaddev was born in the original constellations, named Moolraj Chauhan and being born in the original constellation, he could not be made a ruler, so he was made Rao by giving the jagir of High Borli village in Jalore and Jalore fort. He was given a place of worship in his two sons, the first was Ramkanwar Bhatiyani of Pungalgarh and the second Antevarkanwar Sancheri of Mordhal. Today the descendants of these are called Boralia Sonigara Chauhan and even today they reside in Borli, from this one family went to Kanod and remained the commander of Kanod state for many generations.

In Vikram Samvat 1294, the 8th son of Narwar Maharaj Malay Singh ji, Pratap Singh ji (Patal ji) was born, due to being in the original constellations born from the havan of Brahma, Patal Das ji was made a Rao when he grew up and gave Tank Gotra, which Even today the lineage of the Kachhwaha dynasty is inscribed.

Similarly, the descendants of Lord Krishna descended from the Yaduvanshio of Jaisalmer, the Sirdar of Ghantiala Gotra, the Sirohiya Sirdar descended from the Yaduvanshio of Shurshen (today's Mathura Bharatpur Karauli), the Boraliya Sirdar, the descendant of Jalore's Muldev Chauhan Sonigara, the Sotmaliya Sirdar from the ruler of Bhildigarh, Maherazji Dabhi. , Asoliya Sirdar from Solanki dynasty, Emalia Sirdar from Emelji's eldest son Rao Sonangji, founder of Idar, Sangelia Sirdar from Gahadwal/Rathod dynasty of Kannauj, Lakhnaut Sirdar from Raja Lakhaji of Gaur dynasty and Tank/Amera Sirdar from Kachwaha dynasty of Amer and Many other gotras which have been certified by different Kshatriya clans.

The four clans of the original gotra, due to the characteristics of an Agnivanshi Kshatriya warrior and knowledge of scriptures, later emerged as advisors of different dynasties, who taught weapons and scriptures, politicians, commanders, ministers and poets. @Ransingh32: Please see my comment on the article Talk page here: Talk:Rao_(Indian_surname)#RAO_indian_caste_2. If you wish to write about the caste, you should create a new article, rather than trying to change the article about the surname into an article about the caste. The existing article is about the surname and is a list of people who are not all members of the Rao caste, but have "Rao" as their surname. They are two very different subjects and deserve separate articles. You can use the articles for creation process to create a draft of your new article and submit it for inclusion in the encyclopedia: Wikipedia:Articles_for_creation. New Page Patrol newsletter October 2022

Much has happened since the last newsletter over two months ago. The open letter finished with 444 signatures. The letter was sent to several dozen people at the WMF, and we have heard that it is being discussed but there has been no official reply. A related article appears in the current issue of The Signpost. If you haven't seen it, you should, including the readers' comment section.

Awards: Barnstars were given for the past several years (thanks to MPGuy2824), and we are now all caught up. The 2021 cup went to John B123 for leading with 26,525 article reviews during 2021. To encourage moderate activity, a new "Iron" level barnstar is awarded annually for reviewing 360 articles ("one-a-day"), and 100 reviews earns the "Standard" NPP barnstar. About 90 reviewers received barnstars for each of the years 2018 to 2021 (including the new awards that were given retroactively). All awards issued for every year are listed on the Awards page. Check out the new Hall of Fame also.

Software news: Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have connected with WMF developers who can review and approve patches, so they have been able to fix some bugs, and make other improvements to the Page Curation software. You can see everything that has been fixed recently here. The reviewer report has also been improved.

NPP backlog May – October 15, 2022

Suggestions:

• There is much enthusiasm over the low backlog, but remember that the "quality and depth of patrolling are more important than speed".
• Reminder: an article should not be tagged for any kind of deletion for a minimum of 15 minutes after creation and it is often appropriate to wait an hour or more. (from the NPP tutorial)
• Reviewers should focus their effort where it can do the most good, reviewing articles. Other clean-up tasks that don't require advanced permissions can be left to other editors that routinely improve articles in these ways (creating Talk Pages, specifying projects and ratings, adding categories, etc.) Let's rely on others when it makes the most sense. On the other hand, if you enjoy doing these tasks while reviewing and it keeps you engaged with NPP (or are guiding a newcomer), then by all means continue.
• This user script puts a link to the feed in your top toolbar.

Backlog:

Saving the best for last: From a July low of 8,500, the backlog climbed back to 11,000 in August and then reversed in September dropping to below 6,000 and continued falling with the October backlog drive to under 1,000, a level not seen in over four years. Keep in mind that there are 2,000 new articles every week, so the number of reviews is far higher than the backlog reduction. To keep the backlog under a thousand, we have to keep reviewing at about half the recent rate!

I am writing to you concerned about moderator Wes Sideman (whom I have linked to below). He seems to have an obsession with this television character “Chad Johnson” from the TV show “The Bachelorette” and his Wikipedia page. He continues to change the notoriety of Chad Johnson from his TV shows, to his arrest records attempting to defame him. Those charges were dropped and as you can see in the video below, his girlfriend admits no assault happened. Apparently Wes Sideman knows more than the two people actually involved in the incident. Wes Sideman also continues to remove any remotely good press about Chad from the Wikipedia page. For some reason Wes has been monitoring and harassing this Wikipedia page for over two years now. If you have time, I would ask or suggest that you look into doing something about this Wes Sideman moderator using an abuse of power on Wikipedia.

New to Wiki and need a bit of clarity on making these edits

Thank you for the information on making edits. Yes, I'm a staff member at Our Time Press, but I did not write the information submitted. It was written by the editor/owner of the newspaper.

So under these conditions, how would be go about making edits to the page? Do I request review after each edit? How do I go about doing that? The Wiki interface is a bit confusing, not sure

Minimum deletion time: The previous WP:NPP guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)

New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Discussions with the WMF The PageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

Dear Geoff, this is a request to you to revert your request to delete Glenn Jobe’s page. I am trying to get more text to add to his page ( I assume you requested deletion because it is too sparse). Glenn is an exceptional athlete and an even more exceptional person. He has done an immense amount of work to promote biathlon in the Truckee, CA area, and all over the Sierra. He is extremely generous and modest. I noticed your request for deletion because I tried to correct his birth date and name spelling. Lugnuts reverted the entry last year, and I noticed it was reverted again after I re-corrected it today. I checked with Glenn only two days ago for his actual birth date, and he confirmed it was March 4, not 5.

Hi Geoff, I actually removed the content because it is inaccurate and infringes upon copyright information of First Assembly of God in Prineville and their ministries (past and present). High Desert Christian Academy was never a ministry of First Assembly of God at any point in time. It was a new entity formed in 2015 which leased space from First Assembly of God. Malik Obama revert

I reverted a birther's edit on the Malik Obama page that claimed the fake Barack Obama birth certificate (which stated he was born in Kenya) tweeted by Malik was "historically accurate", and I believe you have mistakenly undone my reversion. Said birther did not bother to edit any further information that disproves the fake birth certificate, not even the cited sources. Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.

Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.

You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.

Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

Recently you removed a brief edit I made on Brian Sparrows page, now I understand I did not cite any references however unfortunantely there are no sources on the internet of the information I am adding, however I was a goalkeeper for the under 11 squad Brian himself managed, as well as attending his funeral. We need a reliable source to verify facts in the articles. See Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Reliable_sources. If there are no sources, unsourced facts should not be in the articles. Perhaps a search through a public or university library would be fruitful, as references need not be available on the internet. @Earthiserregular: You've left 3 messages on the protected article's Talk page, Talk:2023_Manipur_violence, without waiting for a reply. Leaving a message there is the primary means for a new editor to seek changes in a protected article. Keep in mind that everything done within Wikipedia is done by volunteers such as yourself and that there is no paid staff. That means replies on Talk page posts take time in many cases. There are more than 6.5 million articles and only about 290,000 volunteers who make more than 5 edits in a given month. @MTR1983: Start with the "Article Wizard" at WP:WIZARD, which will help you decide whether the topic you want to write about is suitable for a Wikipedia article. At the end of the wizard, if your subject is suitable for Wikipedia, you will be given the option to create a draft and submit it for review by other editors as a part of the "Articles for Creation" project (WP:AFC). The members of this project are experienced editors, though there is much greater demand for their services than there is supply, so you may need to wait a while before your draft is reviewed.

Once you submit your draft, it will be placed into a category where it will be open for review by anyone who reviews submissions. If your submission is approved (which may take more than 4 months because of the current backlog) then an editor will accept it, and you will be notified of the article's creation. If your submission is not accepted, a note will be left on the page describing what can be improved, and you will be notified of this via a message on your "Talk" page.

Note that if you are interested in the publication of an article to which you are very close (e.g., an article about a member of your family, your business, your club/organization/ school, or yourself) you probably have a conflict of interest: if so, it will be absolutely critical that you disclose this when you create the article. An old revert for reconsideration

Hi, can I trouble you to revisit this revert you made about a year ago. For context: the article was originally a misleading promotional piece created by a sockfarm; they engaged in edit warring after I rewrote it based on reliable sources that revealed that the subject was actually a fraudster.

Affected edits:

• rev. 1103065637: provided additional sources, to counter allegations made by one of the socks that all the sources cited in the article were somehow part of an neo-apartheid conspiracy;
• rev. 1103067264: removes a source, but this was clearly explained in the edit summary — I had been advised that WP:FORBESCON was not WP:RS

Perhaps this is something that should be taken to the article's Talk page, as the reliability of the source in this case depends on the writer, who was Mfonobong Nsehe (<https://web.archive.org/web/20110816043012/http://blogs.forbes.com/mfonobongnsehe/>). Perhaps discuss the reliability of the Forbes article based on its writer's creditibility with others interested in the article subject by using the article Talk page, rather than mine. I claim no special expertise on the subject, and I am not the sole moderator of any article here. Let me put this more plainly. We're talking about an edit you made that only carries the generic edit summary for a revert and no further explanation, whereas I've given the rationale behind my edits both above as well as in the original edit summaries. I was checking with you to see if you might still recall the reason for the revert, or might be able to come up with one upon re-examination. I believe the revert was made in error, and am requesting that you either justify it, or undo it — I could of course make the changes myself, but given the history of this article I would very much prefer to avoid doing so if possible, as it might be misinterpreted as edit warring.

Currently, no explanation has been given for the removal of all www.sowetanlive.co.za references from the article. As for the Mfonobong Nsehe piece, I was the one who originally added that reference, and I removed it in response to feedback that it was not a reliable source. WP:FORBESCON clearly states that Forbes.com contributor articles should never be used for third-party claims about living persons. Since you decided to restore the reference — and especially since this is a BLP — I think the onus is on you to show that it is a reliable source, counter to the prevailing wisdom.

Mang0 or Mango?

@Nanovorg: The pre-existing text in the article body all used the "Mango" spelling, while mentioning the alternative spelling in the intro and in the title. If you want to discuss changing the form used in the article (and the other articles you've been changing), I recommend you do that on the article's Talk page, to see if there is a consensus amongst the community for the use of the "Mang0" form throughout the article (and in other articles). I noticed that most, if not all, of the references cited in the article use the form "Mango" for his name. Also, about your point about Mango being used more than Mang0, I looked through every source, and it returned with 16 Sources using Mango, 8 using Mang0, and 36 being not counted, either due to them not loading, being defunct, or not using Mango or Mang0. Sources for Hungrybox

SSBMRank, the source I used when giving Hungrybox his updated 2023 ranking, is nearly unanimously considered by the Super Smash Bros. Melee community as the definitive player rank system. SSBWiki, the community-maintained wiki for Super Smash Bros. Melee uses SSBMRank's Summer 2023 edition for all of the top player's wiki pages. In addition, although the person who added his 2022 placement info did not cite a source, it is very likely they used SSBMRank to place him.

@Nanovorg: Well, I reverted because the source you mentioned in your edit summary was a blog, which is what I gather you meant by "SSBMRank": [8]. The question to ask is whether SSBMRank is a reliable source. Blogs in general are not considered reliable because they are self-published. Wikis (including Wikipedia, by the way) are also unreliable as self-published. Try to find a third party, independently published reference with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. SSBMRank is a reliable source, and is not self-published.

On the SSBMRank Summer 2023 page, the process for how the players are ranked was described. In the process, 28 people of diverse groups, from top players, tournament organizers, writers, analysts, and more, were asked about their opinions on the top 100 players. Further reading also shows that they have a whole team of people dedicated to producing such information. Therefore, this makes SSBMRank a non-self-published source, as it is the opinions on many people, not just one.

SSBMRank is also more a statistical analysis than anything, as what determined a player's placement in the ranking were their tournament results for that year. While some people may have differing opinions on the subject, such a thing like this is inevitable, as certain people may believe some players are better than others for many various reasons, one of those. However, due to how SSBMRank gathers its data and opinions, very little personal bias is likely to play into the results.

Also, on the Wikipedia policy page for reliable sources, it states "Especially in scientific and academic fields, older sources may be inaccurate because new information has been brought to light, new theories proposed, or vocabulary changed". SSBMRank 2022 is an older source, and thus is inaccurate as it has been updated with a new edition, SSBMRank Summer 2023.

SSBMRank has also been used by esports.gg, which, from what I gathered with a 15-second long google search, is a reliable source and is also a third-party source.

Finally, SSBMRank is effectively the only ranking program for Super Smash Bros. Melee in the present-day, with many top players acknowledging it as the prime SSBM ranking system, such as Mang0 in the article I linked. Nanovorg (talk) 22:45, 6 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello. (It's a good idea to make a wikilink for the article title you are commenting on in a user Talk page - I have done that for you). You write about this revert [9] and the similar one just before it. Your addition was phrased in the form of a discussion, rather than an article entry. In other words, it is awkwardly worded and incompletely referenced and looks like it belongs in a discussion on the article's Talk page. You did comment there, but your comment was so vague that anyone reading it would be hard-pressed to know what you are talking about. A better form of comment could be to speak specifically of what you found in the book, with proper referencing including the page number, and the article you mentioned, with the question you wish to raise which seems to be something like: "should the article include a mention of what I've found in those sources?" That would help anyone reading the Talk page determine what you are seeking to add and to weigh in on the discussion. You're new around here, and it may help to read the intro article on referencing and perhaps the tutorial on editing at Wikipedia:Tutorial. I was in the process of writing a (non-promotional) article on Flow Robotics; a danish company with two robots stationed at DTU (Technical University of Denmark) where I study.

The article was not submitted for review, as it was a work in progress, but got deleted.

I have read the guidelines and I don't think i violated any rules. I would appreciate if you could help me understand why I am not allowed to write about companies that I find interesting?

Universal Robots (which was co-founded by the same guy that founded Flow Robotics) have a Wikipedia page. Is it arbitrary what companies are allowed to write about? Or how should I perceive this deletion?

@Raki Lapin: Looks like the draft was deleted as it was deemed to be a clear case of advertising, as the note posted on your user Talk page states: "because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic." I can only assume you were creating the draft article in a public draft space. You might try working on a new version in your own draft space. See this article for how to do that: Help:Userspace_draft. Folks tend to ignore a user draft space article unless and until attention is called to the draft. Once you feel it is ready, you can copy it over to an Article for Creation and submit it for review. And, all your edits and article are subject to review by all other volunteer editors.
