Asrani

I'm not sure what edits you are saying I've made - as far as I can see I've only been reverting vandalism on that page. The vandal IP was 108.95.156.41, go and make some diffs just to make sure you're not actually defending his edits by mistake... EditorInTheRye (talk) 06:23, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

In this edit, you re-added an unsourced date of birth to the Asrani article. I removed it in this edit because Wikipedia includes full names and dates of birth that have been widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object. See Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Privacy of personal information and using primary sources. --Geniac (talk) 15:54, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
oops, I must have thought you were responding to that IP vandal by only partially removing some of his information. You were working on something completely different and I didn't notice that, so I simply decided to play it safe and revert back to what it was before he vandalised the article :-) EditorInTheRye (talk) 16:20, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Question

Hello Geniac, I found out that you are one of the English Wikipedia Administratos and I've decided to write to you about one irritant user, it's User:Dag13. Please visit his page and review it, I'm really interesting if it is forbidden or not to behave like him. I don't know maybe I also violated some rules, but maybe. If you found out, tell me about them I'll be pleased, I am not well in English Wikipedia rules, but I think what he does it's excessive and trespass. Thank you. --g. balaxaZe 19:11, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

Alka Yagnik

Hello Geniac, this has reference to your recent edits made on Alka Yagnik. It seems you are not experienced enough to deal with the subject. There is nothing non-neutral about calling Alka Yagnik a leading playback singer which is clearly stated in the link 1 , you can change it to iconic if you like. Also it is an undisputible fact.

With regards to significant collaborations , these are only her hit/popular songs mentioned. She has sung in hundreds of ordinary movies for the same music directors which are not mentioned , only the significant ones are mentioned which can be verified with the movies' wikipedia page. You need to understand the context in this case. See pages of Kumar Sanu , Asha Bhosle or Lata Mangeshkar for further reference.

In view of the above, I'm removing your edit. --ANKMALI (talk) 12:37, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

If, after reading Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, you do not understand what is non-neutral about words such as "leading", "hit", "popular" and "memorable", you are welcome to ask for assistance comprehending the policy at Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard. --Geniac (talk) 00:39, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Pl. read Wikipedia:Neutral point of view , you don't seem to understand the context. It clearly states "including all verifiable points of view which have sufficient due weight". The word leading is absolutely apt. here & neutral as per the link 1 which infact calls her iconic. Request you to stop edit-warring with me. --ANKMALI (talk) 06:32, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Since we seem to disagree on what words are neutral or not, I have asked for input from other users on the article's talk page at Talk:Alka Yagnik#Neutrality of words. --Geniac (talk) 04:08, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

upload the display picture of Govinda(actor)

hi Geniac, it is my humble request for you to please upload the display picture of Govinda(actor) on wikipedia (Link is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Govinda_%28actor%29). I have uploaded it so many times but everytime some issue occurs regarding license or copyright. I dont know how to fix it or upload image successfully. You can find best pictures of Govinda here http://themirchmasala.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/govinda-photoshoot.jpg

http://hamaraphotos.com/albums300_2012/wpw-20130504/hpse_normal__1644962347_%20Govinda%20photo%20shoot%20for%20designer%20Suprabha%20Jain%20%289%29.jpg

The current Display Picture will also be deleted after 23rd January 2013.

So it would be much better if you upload either the pictures whose link i have given above of Govinda without any licensing/copyright issue or upload any best picture of Govinda. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amanraj6 (talkcontribs) 13:34, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

BracketBot

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Kalabhavan Mani may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • Rajakumaran Avanundoru Rajakumari|Nakshathrakkannulla Rajakumaran]]''<br /> ''Avanundoru Rajakumari]]'' || (2002) || Kochu Kurup

Attempt to diplomatically discuss, collaborate and rectify recent reversion

Hi there,

You recently reverted my edit to Facepunch Studios. I am posting here so we can work together to find a solution that will be amiable to both parties.

You removed my edits because they were unsourced. I may be mistaken, but don't [citation needed] tags go after unsourced claims? What results in content deletion vs. appendage with the tag? Admittedly, I failed in sourcing the claims. However,I have now obtained proper sourcing from (verified) Garry Newman http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/1w4utn/youtuber_catches_another_larger_youtuber_hacking/ceyudwc?context=3 http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/1w4utn/youtuber_catches_another_larger_youtuber_hacking/ceyx485?context=3

pertinent links (now deleted by subreddit mods, but can be viewed via garry's confirmed profile): http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/1w4utn/youtuber_catches_another_larger_youtuber_hacking/ceyudwc?context=3 http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/1w4utn/youtuber_catches_another_larger_youtuber_hacking/ceyu8gy?context=3

Similar to the rule with Twitter linked here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:External_links/Perennial_websites#Twitter such sources may be used as a reliable source provided judgement is made due to the account-verification mechanism associated with it. In light of this, I believe an edit similar to my prior one except with the sources incorporated would be necessary in the interests of Wikipedia's encyclopedic, do you agree?

UpwardsBoom (talk) 17:12, 26 January 2014 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay in replying. Yes, the addition was unsourced. Yes, {{citation needed}} tags can be added to unsourced claims. However, It was also vague (which "critics"? which "proponents"? which "less desirable posters"?) and used the non-neutral phrase "high-quality posting"... according to whom? If you feel you have found reliable sources to support the claims, feel free to restore the paragraph with the references. --Geniac (talk) 01:13, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Basanti Film in Upcoming Projects Section in Mani Sharma

I deleted that movie because it's no more an upcoming film. The audio of the film has been released. So I deleted but I didn't explain the reason of deletion in edit summary sorry for that. This's the reason it has been released so we needn't place it in upcoming projects :)Chanducharmer (talk) 01:27, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Its very Important !

Hi Geniac, I need to speak to you regarding an important matter . The reason why anybody can edit wiki pages, ppl on different websites and social media pick up information from wiki pages without realising OR rechecking if the information is authentic or not . On the Article About "Mehwish Hayat". There are so many errors . from her birth place to her Date of Birth to her siblings . and all this wrong information is spreading everywhere on internet which is wrong because the viewers/fans of a celebrity should know the correct information about their idol. I know Mehwish Hayat personally . she is Only 23 but I dont understand why ppl edit her page and make her 31 or even 27 years Old .WHy?. she doesnt Even LOOK that age ! ALso the references are taken from different random pages .. how can you be sure if the information they have one these random pages authentic ? what If i run a website and make up some false news/Information, write articles about you or anyone being suppose anything.. XYZ..! would that be a reference or information or authenticity Enough to rely on that false information . I just want the people to know whats correct hence why writing to you. what solution comes to your mind after reading this . I need to know what you have to say about it . Thankyou — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.38.59.140 (talk) 09:28, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Please read Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources and Wikipedia:Verifiability. If you think some sources are unreliable, you should discuss that on the article's talk page. --Geniac (talk) 03:45, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

Daryush Shokof

Dear Geniac, it seems that you and many of your associates are just most sensitive about everything which gets written on daryush shokof.we have tried to code all sorts of facts about shokof with so many existing references to all his activities from high school years to his maximalism "which oddly his name is not even mentioned under maximalism in wikipedia" and you continue blocking or erasing all these facts about him?! we are puzzled how to continue making notes about his activities?!we tried to enclose all infos and sites regarding the issues and works connected to his long time artistic works and again it was all erased.the man exists, , has done all those works and every one of those facts can be traced back on google, and other search tools. would you PLEASE, let us finally know where the real problem is?! as you never took the completely biased writing about his kidnapping untouched?! really a case to be thoughtful about this shokof on wikipedia?!is it not? thanks surra suma — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8109:8BC0:CE8:D197:B6E3:EF2F:B6E9 (talk) 19:00, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

I don't have "associates". You say, "we have tried to code...": who is "we"? You added unsourced information. I removed it. I didn't remove the kidnapping section because it is referenced. Have you read Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons? --Geniac (talk) 20:57, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

Lakshmi Rai

we are the official team managing Lakshmi Rai As per her instruction and Valid Proof Her dob is 1989 not 1981 why are you changing this on what basis ; need proper reply — Preceding unsigned comment added by Varmais (talkcontribs) 10:25, 25 February 2014 (UTC)

What reliable source do you have for her DOB? What does "her instruction" and "valid proof" mean? Also, who is "we"? Please be aware that because an account represents your edits as an individual, "role accounts", or accounts shared by multiple people, are as a rule forbidden and blocked. So are you an individual or is this a shared account? --Geniac (talk) 01:22, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

FYI COI noticeboard, Lakshmi Rai, & Varmais

COI/N Lakshmi Rai. DOB 1981 or 1989? Seem to be two years in sources. Confusion or publicity campaign? Jim1138 (talk) 13:04, 25 February 2014 (UTC)

What source says 1989? --Geniac (talk) 01:23, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
IMDB. It seems one can find a web page with just about any 1980s year as her birthday. Seems like someone has been getting younger over the years? Her manager removed the birth year from her article. Some of her photos make her look older than 25. Jim1138 (talk) 08:26, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
Yes, but IMDb is largely user-generated content and so cannot be used a source for something so easily contentious as the date of birth of an Indian actress. --Geniac (talk) 01:07, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
oneindia.in - 1989, Time of India - absent, IluvCinema.in - 1981. Her birth year seems all over the place or notably absent. I would surmise the work of her staff. Jim1138 (talk) 03:29, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
Aah, ok. So it's probably best we not include any DOB info until a reliable source prints one. --Geniac (talk) 03:36, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

WXDX-FM

My apologies for not leaving an explanation for why I deleted the section that I did. I was running short on time and didn't think about it. I realize now I should have just waited until later to edit. But the reason I deleted that passage is because that section is for "Former on-air staff" and Tim Benz is still a member of the on-air staff. Tim Benz threatened to resign, but never actually did, over the Feb. 2013 incident. He co-hosted the morning show for 105.9 The X until Feb. 6, 2014, when he and Bob McLaughlin announced that they had both been promoted, and McLaughlin had been moved to a weekend spot, while Benz would now appear on a show on ESPN 970 and also still appear on The X morning show, doing hourly sports updates.<!ref>http://www.1059thex.com/onair/tim-benz-53873/why-i-am-coming-to-970-and-leaving-the-x-12042739/</ref> Therefore, he is still on-air staff. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rouse52794 (talkcontribs) 03:33, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

A true fan will never accept false birth date of Mr Jackie shroff

First thing first have i dont any major change on JACKIE SHROFF ARTICLE? I had spoken directly to jackie shroff when he was on visit to mangalore,He is bit shy on his age thing I said him 1957 states your birth date,he said his brother hemanth shroff was born and never to trust wiki source. To make it short i was confirmed by indiatoday infact mr shroff has turned 54 age.

http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/jackie-shroff-54-birthday-tiger-shroff-hero-parindaanil-kapoor/1/341142.html

As a true fan i am also a great fan of his son tiger shroff, even he said he is 54.

There so many mistakes in this site anil kapoor was born in 1959 and quite few months younger to sanjay dutt.

Please proove me wrong if jackie was born in 1957

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ancienthordes (talkcontribs) 04:23, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

@Ancienthordes: You speaking to somebody is irrelevant. Being a "true fan", whatever that means, is irrelevant. A mistake in any other article is irrelevant. Information in Wikipedia is based on reliable, published sources. See Wikipedia:Verifiability. I have started a discussion on the article's talk page regarding his date of birth being reported differently by two sources. --Geniac (talk) 05:42, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

Help

Hi Geniac, Actually that edit that I made on Asim was not a test but I added that after completing my practice on Wikipedia. I'm a Paksitani civil agent in Pakistan. I edited this article on our offcial name of Asim who was the Youngest Web Developer in Pakistan. He got award last month and currently he is in Atlanta, USA. I want that article to be undo every changes. Have us not any right to write article ? I written 3 article before and that was also about the youngest boys and girls who made record in world.. Such as Arfa Karim, Ayan Qureshi etc Please add that article again.. Thanks --Affaq Ahmed (talk) 11:29, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

@Affaq Ahmed: No, you do not have any "right" to write an article wherever you like. Asim is a disambiguation page; a page that simply links to other pages to help readers find what they're looking for. The person you attempted to write an article about has a surname, Aslam, so the article should be at Asim Aslam. Please read Wikipedia's notability guideline for help on determining if Asim Aslam is notable or not. --Geniac (talk) 15:46, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
