Hi, General Tiger, Welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the Five pillars of Wikipedia and simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will be by to help you shortly.

Additional tips[edit]

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Five will get you the datestamp only.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

Happy Wiki-ing.Kf4bdy talk contribs

PS: This is not a bot and you did nothing to prompt this message. This is just a friendly welcome by a fellow Wikipedian.

welcome[edit]

Hi, General Tiger, it seems that you are a new user in Wikipedia. I hope you have a good time editing and/or creating articles. Remember to read all the guidelines, policies, rules, etc. I hope we can work together on Korea related articles.

If you would like to join Portal:Korea, feel free to do so. Also Wikipedia:WikiProject Korea (WP:KO) is open for membership where you can start improving articles. Good friend100 03:21, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

Perhaps you're angry at me, but I'm certainly not angry at you, or at any other person, nor do I hate you. If you wish to discuss some issues, we can. I left a table of sources on the Gando page, due to the article length, but I'm confident of being able to footnote any fact on that page. The internet is indeed full of nationalist and POV sources, which is why I took the time to research and reference them, instead of using my own opinions.

I'm not anti-Korean, but I do oppose things that are blatently POV and factually inaccurate. If you take a look at the page history, you'll see that the original Gando page was incredibly biased, used maps nowhere near accurate, got a bunch of facts wrong, and was clearly pushing a POV. It used sources from such sites as [1], so I did research on the issue to flesh out a more detailed and factual article. I'm human and I might not get edits right 100% of the time, but I do try harder to research and reference things on controversial issues, and I do try to fix things that are blatently POV and non-factual. One of the editors who I reverted on Gando also edited on other pages using this as his source. (That page claims that ancient Sumerians, Amerindians, and ancient Chinese civilization originated from Korea)

Perhaps you may feel the internet is completely dominated by Han nationalist POV sites, but I hope after seeing this you realize that the internet isn't immune to Korean nationalist views either, and why we shouldn't continue to perpetuate either on Wikipedia. Here's another example of one that claims Korea originated the Chinese, Indian, Mesopotamian, and Egyptian civilizations, and it apparently comes from [2].

If all it takes is a few online edits for you to hate me, then you probably had preconcieved notions long before you saw me and you probably need to evaluate your own views more closely. Has hate of Chinese in South Korea reached the level of anti-Japanese sentiment yet? I hope it's not the case. I don't care whether you are or aren't a nationalist of any country, as long as your edits are NPOV and factual. Wikipedia has been a helpful resource to me before, and I hate to see anyone distorting facts on it. I feel it will be a lot more useful to both nationalists and non-nationatists alike if it continues to stay at a high level of quality, accuracy, and neutrality. --Yuje 07:08, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet accusation[edit]

Personally, I think you should feel free to remove that template. It was placed by what appears to be a single-purpose account which made only that one edit. No case has been filed at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets, nor anywhere else that I can see, and having seen a fair number of your edits I don't think the case is terribly strong. If you are concerned about this accusation, you might file a request for CheckUser to clear your name.

For more about Appleby, see user:Appleby. I was away from Wikipedia at the time, so I don't know the details of his case, but he has been blocked indefinitely for sockpuppeting. -- Visviva 03:39, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, if you feel you have done nothing wrong, remove the tag. There was also a user that accused user:KiteString of being a sockpuppet as well. Good friend100 02:02, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So, you are almost native english speaker. I have a difficulty to use wiki when I dispute something. I could see very few Korean in Wiki but I am happy to see you here. It is very hard to solve the problem of editing especially korean and chinese history. There are so many chinese and other nations' people may know only the historical facts written by China. We Korean might have concentrated on teaching our history to other countries. It is very sad to me. Anyway, if you have some knowledge about korean history, please support me..

--Hairwizard91 02:02, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

--Hairwizard91 02:03, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ㅠ--Hairwizard91 09:57, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Baekdu[edit]

I've been planning on updating that page a while ago, but been too busy to get around to it. I took a look at your user page, and I'm really flattered that someone would take inspiration from me. I myself draw inspiration from the speeches of Vladimir Zhirinovsky, a guy running to be president of Russia. His idea of Russian foreign policy: "I dream of the day when Russian soldiers can wash their boots in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean". --Yuje 21:59, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I need Information for editing guideline[edit]

There is a user called User:Opp2 in Talk:Dokdo. He seems to be bias, and many editors in Wikipedia notice the issue. He claims that he will "delete the description about Japanese contradiction and terra nullius for NPOV and clearing the fabrication if no one can confirm a Japanese government's original source." I don't think this is a good idea, and I am afraid that Dokdo article will be edited in a wrong biased way, especially without coordination between editors. So I told him several times that he is bias and he doesn't simply have enough witness to simply support his argument. He is being really tough to protect himself against criticism from a lot of opposing editors. He demands for wikipedia editing guideline. The quote by this user: "Do you say that the lie and POV have to leave at Wikipedia? Is that written in the guideline? Please teach where of the guideline to be being written."

I want your feed back right away and help us in Dokdo Talk Page. Thank you.--User:Kingj123 02:38, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

Hi General Tiger,

I know you've put a lot of work into your userboxes, so I hope you're not too offended that I removed what could be interpreted as a racial slur. I trust it was only meant in jest, but is very likely to be misinterpreted.

I also escaped the fair-use image; unfortunately those are not permitted in user space; see WP:USER#Images on user pages for more.

If there's anything wrong with my user page, you can fix that too. ;-) Cheers, -- Visviva 01:21, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please have a look at Wikipedia:User page#What can I not have on my user page?: “[U]sing userpages to attack people or campaign for or against anything or anyone is a bad idea.” To avoid creating a hostile atmosphere, how about toning down your userboxes and not using Image:Manchuria.png in connection with your statement? Wikipedia is not the right place to threaten or intimidate fellow contributors. Wikipeditor 06:02, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Of course, if “currently fixing the user boxes” is to be understood as “removing polemical content”, forget what I wrote above. Wikipeditor 06:06, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Korean Nationalism[edit]

Hi, I found your page through Wikiprojects Korea, I have just begun editing wikipedia's page for 'Korean Nationalism' which has been written with a very anti-korean slant. I'm asking around for contributions repairing the overall negative tone and information(for a more NPOV), if you are interested in contributing please do! I made a few changes including a brief introduction and origins section, as well as a history section which will be filled in the upcoming days. Overall the entire article needs to be restructured, as it reads like random bits of information(related to korean nationalism or not) thrown on the page. Let me know.CatherineKim (talk) 05:18, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:05, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
