Thank you for the edit. Indeed it looks resolved. I tried a few times to justify the flag in the talk, but I kept finding myself going into a tirade over minutia, So I stuck with the brief comment in the history. Thanks again. Verdatum 07:07, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for mugshots

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Curtismugshots.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 15:16, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

I have tagged Image:David_Anthony.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 15:22, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

I have tagged Image:Leif_Garrett_Mugshot.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 12:37, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Sydney? , If you mean Sydney as in Sydney, NSW, Australia then presumably crown copyright will apply? ShakespeareFan00 15:48, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Also note, Australian police are IIRC arranged by state IIRC, So the mughsot sources might be ,NSW state police , and Victoria state Police for Sydeny and Melbourne respectivly. You might want check this and amend the source/authour entries. More generally, I know most of the images are US based so <place> Police Department is a good minimum sourcing, for outside of the US, the source/authour might need some wiki-searching to find the right agency to credit ShakespeareFan00 16:03, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Image:Milgaardbookingphoto.gif

British Columbia is Canada, so is this photo RCMP or a local police agency? ShakespeareFan00 15:55, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Granted, I wasn't querying the (C) staus, but who the imaged credit was to go to, see my additonal comment on the previous

entry. I think Canada organises police by City and State , as well as having the RCMP... ShakespeareFan00 16:07, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

OK, Presumably you have no objections to people fixing the mughsot credit at a later date, based on more information? In repsect

of the specfic example, the credit should ideally be Winnipeg Police, Saskatoon Police or RCMP depending on who did the arrest/booking.. ShakespeareFan00 16:11, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Mughsot credits

Could you possibly raise this on the village pump? That way, those more familar with law eneforcment structure in thier locla jurisdictions would be able to help determine which agencies to credit? ShakespeareFan00 16:15, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

have attempted to fix up a few of the source/image credits.. BTW IIRC Crown copyright ideally needs to be acknowledged... ShakespeareFan00 16:33, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

All-Star Final Vote

Any chance that the All-Star game related DYK will get a longer run on the main page since the All-Star game is tomorrow?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 23:16, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

This is the first DYK that I have actually lobbied to get into a time slot. It would be very timely if the All-Star Final Ballot DYK were included in the next update given the 2007 Major League Baseball All-Star Game is today.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 14:46, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Hyphenation

Hey. In your most recent update to DYK, you got the hyphenation wrong. I've noticed a lot of hyphenation errors on DYK, actually, so I figured I might as well notify the people who make the mistake instead of just correcting them.

If you're talking about an area that involves four counties, it's not a "four county area". It's a four-county area. Compound adjectives are hyphenated.

Hi Gav, I add the 10th Division (German Empire) and 11th Division (German Empire) to the T:TDYK#Articles created on August 1 because the oldest one from those two was created on August 1st. Hope that hook goes with your instruction on my talkpage :) Thanks again, --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ walkie-talkie 22:04, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Better late than never

Hi, GeeJo. It was certainly a right thing to promote the expired nom. You see, I'm trying to involve into our project the article's author - who is a professional historian specializing in a rather obscure subject. DYK is a sort of encouragement that is particularly important for those editors who recently joined the project. We should let them know that their hard work is appreciated. --Ghirla-трёп- 22:08, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

By the way, the promoted suggestion was just one out of an outcrop of nominations that expired and had to be scrapped. I particularly liked this hook:
...that Archbishop Ilya of Novgorod is said to have captured a devil, forced him to transform itself into a horse and fly him to Jerusalem and back in a single night? --Ghirla-трёп- 22:13, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

DYK credits

What is preferred DYK credit policy for co-authored pages? I generally just post nominations unless I am by far not the leading editor in which case I ask for an additional credit to go to the main editor. In other news:

  • Fvasconcellos notes that discussion is ongoing regarding the current wording of MEDMOS on including dosage information in drug articles. All input is welcome.

Here's a brief update in some of the recent developments of WikiProject Pharmacology!

  • Aspirin has just completed its two week run as the first Collaboration of the Week! Many thanks to those editors that contributed; the article got a lot of good work accomplished, and in particular, much work was done in fixing up the history section. It's still not quite "done" yet (is a wikipedia article really ever done?), but after two weeks I think it's more important to push onwards with the development of the new collaboration of the week program. I will be fixing up Aspirin in the next few days and possibly nominating it for either GA or FA status.
  • Please remember that Wikipedia is not a forum for discussing or dispensing medical advice amongst users. Specifically, talk pages of articles should only be used to discuss improving the actual article in question. To help alleviate this situation, the template {{talkheader}} may be added to the top of talk pages, reminding users of the purpose of such pages. Additionally, unsigned comments and comments by anonymous users that are inappropriate may be removed from talk pages without being considered vandalism.
