DYK thanks and query

Thank you for featuring John Perlman. However it's a pity that this South African story was only featured for 6 hours between 1am and 7am on Monday morning South African time. Zaian 06:14, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for reverting that. If someone actually believed that was what I said...God knows what would have happened. ~ Flameviper Who's a Peach? 15:05, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Michael des barres.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Michael des barres.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. How to get a site on semi-protect status or mediation?

(BTW, what great travels you've had!) An editor is pulling a category from Health effects of September 11, 2001 attacks. He is doing this on a daily basis -from different IP addresses, so it doesn't break three revert rule. How do I get semi-protect status or start mediation? Thanks. Dogru144 01:16, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

For the heavy documentation I am referring to (1) the chemicals in the computers, other office equipment and the furnishings, and to (2) the health effect reactions to breathing particulates of those things pulverized.

This fragment of an early paragraph has four references: debris resulting from the collapse of the Twin Towers consisted of more than 2,500 contaminants,[1] more specifically: 50% nonfibrous material and construction debris; 40% glass and other fibers; 9.2% cellulose; and 0.8% asbestos,[2] lead, and mercury. There were also unprecedented levels of dioxin and PAHs from the fires which burned for three months.[3] Some of the dispersed substances (crystalline silica, lead, cadmium, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) are carcinogenic; other substances can trigger kidney, heart, liver and nervous system deteriation. Clearing next update

Am I missing something or did you clear the next update without updating DYK? The article queued there seem to have disappaered into the ether. Yomanganitalk 22:38, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

You uploaded this picture to Commons. It was mislabeled at lukeisback.com and shows not Julia Ann, but someone named Nikki Nine (compare the next two pictures on this page). Perhaps you want to have the picture deleted because it is misnamed. I also suggest some more diligence when uploading pictures; when looking at the other pictures of Julia Ann, it is quite clear that this picture does not show her, especially not on the same day when two of the other pictures were taken. --Rosenzweig 21:44, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Front page DYK: Flag of Sweden

Spelling: Sillesalaten should be changed back to Sillsallaten according to the Swedish Academy's word book and Nordisk familjebok (2nd ed. vol 24, p. 534). The nickname was first used in Sweden, and the Swedish terms seems more relevant than the Norwegian "Sildesalaten". (I wrote the article and someone changed the spelling.) Hello, GeeJo. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Nuvola Firefox icon.png) was found at the following location: User:GeeJo. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Hi GeeJo, Thanks for the mention of the Short Knuckleduster in DYK. Oh, congratulations. Does that include ones that were added without you being notified? I suspect there are a number of DYK contributors from days gone by (before 2006, say) who would be recognised on the list if the systems had been as formalised as they are now. If someone has the time, it may be interesting project for someone to trawl the archives. Others, such as Geogre write or completely rewrite many articles but don't bother putting them up for DYK.

I think David Renton, Baron Renton was my 200th - although that is only counting my user talk page notifications. I have been rather less active over the past two or three weeks, and you are well ahead now, I think. -- ALoan (Talk) 16:43, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Slaterchristian.jpg fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

no free alternative? kidding? --NoCultureIcons 12:40, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Slaterchristian.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it did not nominate Image:Slaterchristian.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 12:50, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

==annoying editor==

Hello - I picked your name randomly from a list of admins. I am having a minor problem with another editor - I/them may be approaching the 3 revert limit - the issue is a simple one but the other editor will not listen to basic policy.

The page is Civilization Revolution, the other user is User:JAF1970

My gripe is the the user is adding speculation to the article and reverting me when I try to remove it - they also have been removing corrections I have made in their reversions - which I find annoying.

I have tried to explain my problem with their edits on their talk page

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3AJAF1970&diff=141403906&oldid=141014667

The user does not seem to accept that what they are adding is speculation. examples

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Civilization_Revolution&diff=141409601&oldid=141405879
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Civilization_Revolution&diff=141401028&oldid=141400747

Now the user is talking about a 'compromise'. They add references that are simply copies of the original press release and does not seem to be able to read beyond the first line in an article.

I hope you or another admin you pass this on to will be able to get this stub article sorted out. I will keep an eye on the talk page. It's clear that the user simply is not really listening to me - that's why I seek help - this is obviously not a serious comlaint about the user.87.102.4.153 16:08, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

They also added from their talk page "Your problem is you haven't registered with Wikipedia, for starters. JAF1970 16:21, 29 June 2007 (UTC)" http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3AJAF1970&diff=141417851&oldid=141416287 ??87.102.4.153 16:33, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

If you can help with this matter the obvious place to respond is Talk:Civilization Revolution Thank you.87.102.4.153 16:36, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
