Thanks for noticing[edit]

I knew something was odd about Izzy Asper being an Israeli immigrant. My friend had an imput into the article and told me he was an Israeli immigrant. I should have done some research to make sure I had the right information on where he was born. Thanks for noticing the mistake. Good luck on your Computer Engineering degree. Just to be curious, I was wondering what you thought about the Asper School of Business Management program since you have a minor. I haven’t decided what I should major in, considering I start attending the University of Manitoba in September. --rolo 02:39, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Güenisimos tus articulos de los barrios. Tomatelo con tiempo, aca no hay apuro; yo, personalmente, prefiero tener un link en rojo durante meses, y no tener un articulo de una sola linea durante anyos (no tengo enye). Un abrazo, Mariano(t/c) 16:24, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maestranza format[edit]

I put out a call on the SPATRA talk page to get some more opinions on the format we discussed here. No one else has opined yet, and though it's only been two days, I'm going to change all the instance to your suggestion until some more people chiem in (since it's half-and-half right now). I'm rushing a bit because I'm about to change the SPATRA to Siete Partidas and I don't want to close out the old translation in a sub-par state. - Draeco 04:10, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Translation help[edit]

Mariano(t/c) 06:16, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Email[edit]

María Martha Fernández[edit]

I have been trying to sort out this nomination for deletion of this article, unfortunately the old nomination of last year was used. At first I thought it was new and written up at the wrong place, so I moved it and listed it correctly. I now realise that this old nomination cannot proceed and a new one at the correct name Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/María Martha Fernández will be needed and it will need a new entry on the relevant day's AfD page (click here to make new entry to the day's AFD page). As it was never correctly listed I have closed the original part of Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/María Martha Fernández and am informing those of you who have voted on the old page for your information and action. Thanks. --Alf melmac 11:10, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merci beaucoup![edit]

Thank you, Gadig!
Thank you for voting for my recent RfA, which passed (to my extreme surprise and shock) with a total tally of 66/15/2. For that, I would like to thank you and offer a helping hand in any admin-related tasks that may be required -- it's as simple as leaving a message on my talkpage. Re:{{es icon}}[edit]

Hi there! The problem with the es icon tag (as well as the other lang icons) is that it hasn't been yet consensuated its format, nor its possition (before or after the link). Some time ago these tags had only two letters (es, en, ...), and so being before the link left them nicely aligned (unless you had more than one). Given the current different size of the tags, as well as the act that you might have a site with several languages, might make it better to put the at the bottom. All in all, yes, we should define a standard for language icons. Take a look at {{Languageicon}} and Template talk:Languageicon, and then post a message at Wikipedia talk:Argentina-related regional notice board, we'll continue it there, ok? Take care, Mariano(t/c) 06:02, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Juan Pablo Sorin[edit]

Is your reversion of the Sorin article without comment on the talk page an indication that you are unwilling to discuss this matter or consider a compromise and would prefer to immediately move on to dispute resolution?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.22.123.195 (talkcontribs)

I was re-writting the article as you send me this message. Check Talk:Juan Pablo Sorín for the discussion. Gadig 04:58, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jenin[edit]

After the battle of Jenin there was much comparing it to the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. While no mention of it nowadays it was often used by Muslims and some Westeners as a point of hypocrisy of Israel.Dermo69

== Image:Buenosaireszoo.jpg listed for deletion ==
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Buenosaireszoo.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. —Pilotguy (ptt) 23:33, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Mascherano.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mascherano.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Argentinean Manitoban Association[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Argentinean Manitoban Association, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 02:44, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Argentinean Manitoban Association, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Argentinean Manitoban Association satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Argentinean Manitoban Association and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Argentinean Manitoban Association during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. ... discospinster talk 19:35, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:12, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Wikipedia 15 in Winnipeg[edit]

Wikipedia is celebrating its 15th birthday on January 15, 2016. I have thought for a while that it would be neat to meet some local wikipedians. According to the wikipedians in Winnipeg or Wikipedians in Manitoba category you are one of us. I am contacting people in this category to say: Let's celebrate this milestone. If you know other wikipedians, please ask them to join in as well.

I am posting this to your talk page as a transclude so that any updates will show up automatically.

Hope to see you there! Tenbergen (talk) 04:46, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

One other Winnipeg Wikipedian showed up, in addition to a number of regular skullspace members. It was nice to actually talk to someone else who has worked with Mediawiki and actually "gets" transclusion. Cake was eaten! Tenbergen (talk) 06:37, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Aw, apparently I haven't logged in to Wikipedia in over 6 years and I totally missed this message and the event! I guessed I missed any 20 year celebration, too. Let me know if you end up doing a 25 year one. :) Clayton Rumley (talk) 22:52, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
