Medal for photographic work you have done

The Photographer's Barnstar
I have noticed that you have uploaded many photographs to Wikipedia. As a result, here is a medal to show that your effort is appreciated. Keep up the good work. EasyPeasy21 (talk) 17:38, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello! I know you've done a lot of work on Isle of Wight articles, and thought you'd be interested to know that I've just started Wikipedia:WikiProject Wight. I think there's a lot more that can be done with the island's articles, and this should help us all to work together consistently. I hope to see you there! --Peeky44 (talk) 12:03, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on White Air (extreme sports festival) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Blowdart | talk 19:13, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

All that Jazz

Hi Editor5807

Hope you don't mind me asking a favour but I've got a feeling you might be the person to assist. I've become involved in a dispute over on Isle of Wight International Jazz Festival and it might be seen to be involved with my work, so I've got to withdraw. The other people involved are not experienced editors and the discussion might get a bit heated, although so far it has not - largely as I have not pushed the restoration of some deleted text that I believe is notable enough for inclusion. I'm hoping that someone else can give them a bit of guidance and advice. Someone who knows how WP works as you certainly do, and also the Island. Preferably also isn't involved in the jazz fest either (you're not from Ventnor I think). I've set out my proposed edit but can't really argue this case at all as there's no secret about who I am and what my paid work is. If you'd rather not, no probs. With kind regards Naturenet | Talk 10:24, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Your moderate and sensible input appreciated. Naturenet | Talk 21:22, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Chine Template

I had noticed that your chine template was updating only when you edited the page. This is weird, surely templates are not supposed to work like this, it makes them almost useless. I'm sure when i made changes to the IOW SSSI template the changes were visible immediately on each page it was on. Interestingly your template on Alum Bay is up to date even though the page was last modified in December. This seems to be inconsistent behaviour to me. Its all very confusing! Anyway keep up the good work on the IOW. Cheers Debnigo (talk) 00:05, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Remember Bustival?

I have finally got round to uploading my pictures taken on the Island in May, and have been uploading my pictures from Bustival, held at Havenstreet, to celebrate SV's anniversary. See Commons:Category:Southern Vectis Bustival. I would like your opinion: On the photos of Southern Vectis buses, do you think I should just put them in the "Category:Southern Vectis Bustival" cat, or that category and "Category:Southern Vectis"? While the latter is technically over categorization, it is serving a purpose and should be OK. The purpose is that you can see all of the photos of the fleet in one place. Arriva436talk/contribs 22:03, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

A good collection of images! And an event I would have liked to go to as well but couldn't due to other commitments... In my opinion it would be acceptable to have the SV images in both categories. I noticed that was what had been done with the Christmas Lights Tour category, where some images appeared in both such as this one. I agree it would be better to have all the fleet under the main SV category, so all looks good. Editor5807speak 18:09, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the compliment! I've still got quite a few images to go, including interiors (but annoyingly not the Citaro's and now they're going). I'm glad you think so, as it is helpful having all together. I did indeed do it with the Christmas lights tour, but the amount of images was smaller then.
On the subject of the forthcoming SV changes, I don't know how much enthusiast news you know about, but I may as well tell you tha basics, in terms of what is expected to happen at the moment:
  • The seven Citaros new to Southern Vectis are to leave. (Speculation is that they will go to Bluestar, as they said on their Facebook page routes 4 and 12 in Southampton are "going posh" from January 2010, and the dates fit.
  • The two left will be the ex-Uni-link ones, and one will be allocated to route 4 (where they can be seen sometimes at the moment, in fact one evening journey is scheduled for one), the other as one of the buses on route 5.
  • Six Darts will move on. (Probably to Wilts & Dorset, the four to go so far are headed for Salisbury).
While the cuts will reduce the peak vehicle requirement (PVR) of the network as a whole, there will still be too few buses, so (the exciting bit!), 5 surplus Metrobus Scania OmniDekkas are going to come over. Arriva436talk/contribs 21:22, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Ok, some things I was unaware of there. Unfortunately the amount of SV photos and indeed the amount of island photos I upload is set to decrease as I have now moved to university, on-top of the fact that the main camera I use looks like its just died :( but some of them I could possibly get when I return at Christmas about a week before the timetable change, or possibly at another time if I'm over and get a chance to replace my camera. However photos of routes 10 and 11 could be limited by not owning a car, so I may be able to get photos of buses at say Bembridge, Brading or Freshwater etc, but buses on the Downs could prove too difficult particularly during the winter. Editor5807speak 23:18, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Oh dear, that doesn't sound good - both my cameras are both still alive luckily. I don't want to force you to go out and take photos or anything, but Bembridge and Brading would be good if possible. Brading would be a good place for a route 10 photo, seeing as it is the direct link to Newport, one of the main features of the route, and you could have the bus coming up the hill with the buildings in the background or something. I don't have a car either, so it looks like I'll be standing like a numpty on the Downs for ages then!!! Arriva436talk/contribs 14:40, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I'll see what I can do then. Editor5807speak 23:30, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

DYK for PS Monarch

Updated DYK query On November 15, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article PS Monarch, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Materialscientist (talk) 19:22, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Love it, but multiplying the length, beam, and draught together I get ~570 cubic feet, which is an upper limit to the actual volume of water displaced I think. Thus she cannot displace 566 tons, since a cubic foot of seawater weighs about 64 pounds. I have left the number 566 in the table because I have no idea what the correct number would be (~5 tons? I would guess). Wwheaton (talk) 00:18, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for bringing this to my attention!! When I first created the article I copied the infobox over from the PS Ryde article and thought I had deleted all the information before adding it for PS Monarch but obviously not. So yes a tonnage of 566 isn't right and shouldn't be in there, I've just removed it for now. Thanks again Editor5807speak 01:21, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

my.wightbay.com

Hi, I tried to add a link to this site (part of the classifieds site Wightbay) which allows users to personalise the page covering all aspects of Isle of Wight such as; Local News, Restaurant reviews, Bars/clubs, Radio etc - where should this go on the Isle of Wight page and how best to sum it up? 62.49.6.51 (talk) 13:12, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for getting back to me. After taking a closer look at the site I have realised it does contain some relevant details such as news, radio etc as you pointed out. Personally I am not sure where this should be included in the Isle of Wight article so I have started a discussion at Talk:Isle of Wight so other editors can offer their views and hopefully we can come to a solution. Please do feel free to take part in the discussion as your views will be valued by other editors. Also, I may have said before but if you want to be taken as a serious editor I would strongly recommend creating an account. Edits by unregistered users are often taken more suspiciously and once you are registered your edits will be much less likely to be reverted. Don't let your hard work go to waste! SV fleet happenings

I think this is better posted here, rather than the more public SV article talk page.

The Darts to stay are 301, 302, 304, 308, 310, 311, 312, 313, 314, 319 and 320. This is basically the ones in new livery staying and old livery going - bar a couple in old livery which are still needed. I believe there are photos of all the Darts on Commons, bar 318, which has now gone to Wilts - although I do have a shot of it.

Some Darts are now gaining advert boards on their sides and rear, as well as some Scanias and B7s, going against the original decision to leave the Scanias advert free. Could be worth a mention somewhere - I do have a couple of shots of the new advert boards. Incidentally 1101 has has the island thinker removed, not sure why.

The Citaros are going in time for Bluestar to have them next year, and the ex-Metrobus OmniDekkas are coming over ASAP. All 5 are at Hants & Dorset trim in Eastleigh being done now, and will come over one by one when done. There probably will be a gap that needs to be filled, and so the four Wilts & Dorset B7TLs used on Unilinx services in Bournemouth are available, as well as 1 standard example from Lymington.

Talking of Wilts, old Olympians 712, 721, 723 are back over to help with Roadworks shuttles and to do what Wightlink want them to.

Thought that might be of interest, for photos and maybe changes to articles. Arriva436talk/contribs 15:37, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Ok thanks for that extra information, I saw 1101 the other day, again I am not sure why the island thinker was removed. The temporary Wilts and Dorset B7TL buses would be good to get photographed, something I'll try to do when I see them as well as the Olympians. Thanks again. Editor5807speak 20:30, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Just a quick note - I'm really busy to say much else at the moment - but if we're both trying to find 457, an interior shot of an 07-reg Citaro would be great too, as 479 and 480 aren't the same as the original Citaros! Arriva436talk/contribs 16:08, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
Right ok, I'll try to get that as well. I was already planning to try and get more rear shots of the Citaros anyway as I think the messages on the back such as "Go to work in a Merc" etc are brilliant and we only have a few uploaded at the Commons so far, so on a trip to Ryde, I'll try to get these. I have a photo of the rear of 456 but it's in the dark, and I'll upload it if I can't get a better one before they are taken away. Don't know if any have gone so far though, or when they are due to start leaving... Editor5807speak 16:49, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
Right, I've finally got some time on my hands! Phew! The island thinkers branding is coming off 3 buses - basically because the people are no longer relevant or something - presumably they've moved away or have different jobs etc. There is a waiting list for new "thinkers", and three more are due to be made. Good idea about the Citaros rears, to be honest I don't really notice them that much personally, having seen so many similar Best Impression designs, including the "go to work in a Merc" with Oxford Bus Company! However they are definitely worth getting on record. Another thing that could be worth getting are the individual cove panels inside each Citaro, each with a different type of bus detailed. I'll try and get that if I'm on a 9.
As for the arrival of the East Lancs Volvos, and the departure of the Citaros, this is the info as of Friday 11th: "Four Volvo B7 East Lancs are joining us next Friday". "The Citaros should come off early on the next week." Arriva436talk/contribs 19:10, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
The plan!

I was deciding whether to come over Saturday 12th or next Saturay (19th). With hindsight - it won't be the 12th! My plan is to come over in the morning via Portsmouth, then get a 2 to Tesco, grab a shot of a Ryde bound 14 and then get a 14 to Bembridge. The 14s are only due 1 minute apart, so there's quite a high chance of my bus coming before the one I want a shot of, but hopefully if they do I can just take a photo of the Bembridge bound one before I get on it, so it should go OK there.

I intend to get off at Bembridge Crossway, take a photo of the bus I get off (changed to a number 16). Then wait for the next number 14, get a shot of that (maybe up the road from Crossway), and then go back to Crossway to capture the 10 at 29 minutes past.

Then I am going to rush to Bembridge Harbour on foot, to see the number 10 headed for Sandown. This will be quite tight, especially if the first 10 I see is late - but hopefully it will be OK. Then I will wander along to St Helens (Station Road stop) to see the next 14 and then 16.

After walking up to St Helens Green, I hope to get a 14 and 16, then wait for the next two 10s to pass (about xx37 and xx40), before getting the next 16 to Seaview. Get off at Seaview, and hopefully get a photo of the bus going the other direction. It is due at the same time, although the timetable only gives 4 mins to get from Ryde to Puckpool, so hopefully it will be late! Then I will walk down to the seafront (expect lots of photos of bus stops here!) to capture the 16 going an hour later the Bembridge, and then getting on the 16 to Ryde a few minutes later.

This will complete the trip in Ryde. I am now considering staying over until the next day, to hunt out 457 if I haven't already seen it, and maybe going to Sandown to see the 8s using the Esplanade for the first day, as that is the route they are taking.

Hopefully the plan goes OK, there's only a couple of areas where it could go completely wrong, but if I have to wait an hour its not the end of the world. You can bet that it will be pouring down all day though! Do the plans seem OK to you (i.e can I actually manage it!)? I realise that leaving it until the day before the changes isn't ideal, but I can't do much else now! Hopefully I'm not ill. If it does work out OK though, then I suppose it would sort of be good to have photos of the "last day". They could go with my photos of the Medina Tour I took on the first day of its 2009 season, without even knowing....! Arriva436talk/contribs 19:10, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

All sounds good to me! However I took one last trip on the 10 today and unfortunately I noticed Southern Vectis have already changed the bus stops at Bembridge and St Helens to show the number 8, removing the 10, 14 and 16 numbers from the flags... The Brading ones were still up though, so I have some photos of those at least, and hopefully Staplers and Robin Hill ones will follow tomorrow or Wednesday.
As a side note, I'm not sure if you're aware but at St Helen's there's a footpath which goes behind The Vine Inn where there is an old Southern Vectis bus stop flag (before the Best Impressions green ones), showing the 12 when it used to stop there at The Vine Inn bus stop. It's now used as decoration by the pub and sticks out onto the footpath, it's very clearly visible and thought it might be of interest if you had time. But since there's so much to photograph this time, and it will probably be here for quite some time in the futute!!
In terms of the photos I was taking, today I managed to get up to the Downs, I got a total of four shots of buses at various angles up there and will upload them soon. Only trouble is, the main photo with the Downs and the sea in the background doesn't actually show anything on the destination display as it was flashing and the camera caught it showing nothing! I am planning to do Yaverland, Sandown and Robin Hill later in the week so hopefully I can take the destination from one of those buses and put it onto this photo. There's also a photo of 1152 in Brading, near the Church coming up the hill.
I'll also keep an eye out for 457, I was planning a trip to Ryde especially to try and get it, as well as a Citaro interior so hopefully between us we can find it! Editor5807speak 19:51, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Fantastic news, well done! A bit of a shame about the display though. Fortunately the burst mode on my camera does solve most of the issues (as well has avoiding as many photos going blurry), but it doesn't work all the time. 1149 did it to me on my trip to East Cowes especially to get a shot of the 4 for the Wikipedia article. I did manage after several attempts to put a display on from the image from File:Southern Vectis 1149 HW09 BCO.JPG which was the second in the "burst". Taken from the same place but the background of East Cowes was out of view so I couldn't use it. Fortunatley the angle was still OK to put in the other image, even if the reflection of the sky looks odd. Unfortualtey, the bus was heading to Ryde but showing East Cowes!
As long as you get a shot as the similar angle, it should be OK to "fake"! When you upload, you might want to upload the original first, then the version with the destination display amended over the top of it, just so we have the record of both. As for route 4, hopefully I'll get the same shot but with the Citaro allocated on it. Annoying about the bus stops. The timetables shouldn't have been update yet though... I just hope my plans go OK now! Arriva436talk/contribs 20:10, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

More

Just a quick note to say that the Wilts & Dorset Volvo B7TL/East Lancs Myllennium Vykings have arrived, reported to be 401 (HF54 KXT), 402 (HF54 KXU), 403 (HF54 KXV) and 404 (HF54 KXW). From the bus in Ryde, I saw (looking over the the depot) one of the Wilts Olympians that are on the island too.

Also Wightbus] Christmas decorations might be nice to get a shot of. I didn't see any Wightbus vehicles all weekend sadly. Arriva436talk/contribs 23:15, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Ok, thanks I'll keep a look out. Whilst in Yaverland getting photos of the 10 I saw a Wightbus on route 24 pulled in, with no driver... I took the opportunity to get some photos, some of which can clearly see Christmas decorations in. If I get the chance when going to Ryde before Christmas I'll try to catch the 29 to get photos of the interior of the bus mentioned in the County Press as well. Editor5807speak 23:20, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
Some more stuff. A third type of bus stop flag is being put up - "schoolday only" ones. Just guessing, but judging by the colour of the new school leaflet, and the bus stops timetables I saw while out on Saturday, these will be orange and yellow. Apparently, the first OmniDekka isn't now expected until January, and until the first one arrives, one Citaro will stay on the island to cover, while the others leave. I think that's it. Hopefully now I can inform you of when the Citaros leave, the Wilts Volvos come into service, and the OmniDekkas arrive, and then everything will quieten down! Arriva436talk/contribs 22:33, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Ok then, thanks again for that. So all the green bus stop flags that only display school services are being taken down? If this is the case should I try to get photos of these where I can to keep on record that they were once displayed alongside standard services? Also do you know if the Island Coaster stops are being replaced as well that currentlu only display the old route number 'X40'? As there are several stops that school services and the Island Coaster only serve. Editor5807speak 10:45, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
I have asked about the schoolday bus stops, no reply as of yet. I do know, however, that they are indeed orange and yellow, and are little stubby things which just say "bus stop, for buses that run on schooldays only", and then the stop name below that. No route details appear on the actual flag. I've seen a picture of one along Seaview Duver, which has been changed since my visit on Saturday.
Apparently, the first two Wilts & Dorset Volvo B7TLs have been seen in service, so all of them should be out and about fairly soon. A result of two things 1) that everything is being swapped about, and 2) 190 slid across the road outside Ryde depot, blocking Park road and Monkton Street, and stopping other buses from coming out, meant that the Citaros have been out everywhere - 457 (along with Scania 1144) was on the 1, 453 on route 5, 451 doing two return journeys on the 2 and 3 before moving onto the 4, all on Wednesday! Arriva436talk/contribs 23:16, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I haven't seen any of the Wilts and Dorset buses yet, but if they are all out in service soon I should be able to soon. I have a photo of 457 on route 1 to upload soon, as well as two Citaros on route 5. In addition, I was in Ventnor at one point this Christmas, so i got a photo of 1109 on a Christmas service 3 here which can be seen by the Metadata at the bottom of the page, just so it's also on record that Christmas services were operated. Editor5807speak 18:07, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

(Re-Indent) Well done - they are excellent captures for the record! I look forward to seeing everything uploaded. Another Citaro went out on the 3 today. Still no reply about the bus stops, but I personally reckon that they will replace the green bus stops which only have school routes, so you might want to get those if you pass any. I don't know about the Island Coaster, but I reckon it will keep the "X40"s for now. Arriva436talk/contribs 22:41, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I saw 457 on the 3 yesterday (despite our initial concerns we might not be able to get a photo of it, it looks to be one of the better photographed Citaros!) so I also have a photo of that to upload. I noticed quite a few of the school bus stops have already been changed, but I'll try to get photos if I do see any that haven't been, some of the new design could be useful anyway. Ah right, thanks for that! And its even on what looks like a route 9! Editor5807speak 19:27, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes, the seven from Vectis will mean that their routes 4, 8, 9 and 12 can be run with Citaros (and the whole fleet will be low floor). It is planned they will use the newer Vectis ones on the 9! (though the natives are only 06-reg, so not a lot of difference). ::In terms of the latest SV stuff... 300, 303 and 305 are now at Eastleigh for painting. 307 and 308 are ready to go over - and 307 did go over today I believe, as part of the exchange between that and the first ex Metrobus OmniDekka. 309 has had a change in its fate, it's now staying on the island. 452 is now in service as pictured above, 455 is awaiting work before painting, as is 454 before going on over to the mainland. The seventh Citaro isn't due to leave until the first OmniDekka is in use.
Here's some pictures of 1053: [2] and [3]. It's had a centre door conversion, hence the missing window. They's getting the names off the Citaros. The 10xx fleetnumber goes with the ex-Uni-link one Bluestar have. It is now on the island, and will have MOT done etc, before the new seat coverings arrive (it needs them before it goes into service), so it will be a while yet. Arriva436talk/contribs 19:06, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
Ok thanks for the update. 402 is recorded well now, I have plenty of photos of it to upload in Newport and East Cowes, as well as interior shots which also show some outside as well (Newport bus station, York Avenue etc.) to help show they were on the island. I also have a few more of the 07 batch of Citaros to upload as well on route 4. Unfortunately I have only found 403 once, and it was pulling away so could only manage a rear shot which I will upload soon, with "Sorry...Not in Service" on the back screen. Hopefully more photos in the coming weeks if they are set to stay a little longer! Editor5807speak 19:20, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
No problem! Good news about the B7TLs. Hopefully, when I'm next down on the island, the OmniDekkas will be out and about. Also - about the above, I'm not sure why I said 308 is ready to go, it's in new livery and wasn't due to transfer... ...but the SV commerical director has reported that it is. It's likely to be a mistake, so sorry about that. Arriva436talk/contribs 20:26, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Commons and SV

Firstly the bus stuff. 306 has gone to Eastleigh for painting, which completes all the MPDs hat were due to leave (309 is now staying). (308 was indeed a mistake, it's 306) 300, 303 and 305 are now painted and will soon go to Salisbury. Wilts & Dorset Olympians 712 and 723 have now gone back. The 5 remaining Olympians (Wilts 721 and SV 756-9) are now in the coach unit for school work. There's some changes to the ancillary fleet regarding 012 and 096, with some replacements. These hopefully will soon be on the SV fleetlist.

Regarding Commons, I have now finished uploading the island stuff off the CDs I have (images that were originally on a now gone PC). There's a couple more from 2008/9 that probably haven't been uploaded that are on my old computer, but I've decided to leave them for a bit. I have therefore started to upload my pictures from the remainder of 2009 (I'd already done May/Bustival), starting from my visit in August. I have got to the pictures of 758 on route 1. I took quite a few shots of it, and there were already a few on commons, so 758 has smashed the record of most-on-commons SV bus - 14 different pictures of it! Anyway, a problem I have is with File:Red Funnel Red Jet 3.JPG. Red Jet 4 seems to have a category with its IMO number and everything, but I can't find Red Jet 3's IMO number. (I think it's 901323, from the Red Funnel website, but I'm not sure.) What should I do about creating a new category etc?

Some other stuff. Red Osprey is now de-Ikea'd. Also, I don't know whether you are still on the island/whether you will be, but on Tuesday 2nd February, Greyhound UK are taking over one of their coaches to the island. You can read more about it here [4], but the locations are:

  • 11.15am Ryde Tesco
  • 12.00pm Sandown Leisure Centre
  • 1.00pm Newport College
  • 2.15pm West Cowes Ferry Terminal

I thought I'd mention it just in case you're passing. Getting to the Red Jet terminal in Cowes could be interesting in a 12 metre long coach too! Arriva436talk/contribs

Ah right, thanks for that. Tuesday isn't a great day for it to happen in terms of time, but I should be able to make the Cowes one, possibly the Isle of Wight College one in Newport. I'm guessing 2.15 is the time it will be starting and will be there for a while before it finishes? And that it won't actually be at the Fountain Quay but somewhere around the Cowes Co-op area or town centre? It could be a good photo opportunity if it tries!
With my SV Commons stuff, I have a few more route 10 photos to upload, such as bus stops around Sandown and Yaverland. I also have a few more Wilts & Dorset B7TLs and SV 07 Citaros. Hopefully I'll be able to get some more next week as well. With Red Jet 3, I got its IMO number as 9182758 from this page and if you search "Red Jet 3 IMO" in Google, a lot of other sites state it as 9182758. Hope that helps. Editor5807speak 21:05, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the info about Red Jet 3. I'l try and sort that out (and maybe the overcategorisation of Red Jet 4). Newport College could be a safer bet, but I think Cowes would be best (especially if you should be able to make the Cowes one!). No one seems sure about what's going to happen in Cowes. They'd specifically said "West" Cowes, so presumably they don't mean East Cowes (though E.C would be eaiser to catch the ferry back home?). If the coach doesn't turn up in Cowes then probably run to East Cowes lol!!
I would say that yeah, 2.15 is when it will arrive (though I'd expect it to be a tad late). Maybe a good idea to get there 5 mins early just in case. I would also reckon it will end up at the Co-op, there should be enough room. I don't see where else it would go in the town? Still, as you say, it would be a very good set of photos if it tries to get onto the Pontoon!! There is a chance it could have been overlooked - there's no actual reason why anyone from the mainland would know about it (though one driver lives in Rookley [5]). We shall see what happens - good luck! I would stand on the corner of Terminus Road and Carvel Lane (like I was here), a good vantage point for anything approaching into town!! Arriva436talk/contribs 19:33, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
Ok thanks. In the end I managed to get to Cowes on time for it's arrival at 2:15pm. It turned out it was at the Co-op. I took around 20 photos of the launch, which I will upload to the Commons soon. Although I said I was going to university earlier on on my talk page, I do still live on the Island and just go over to the mainland, it just gives me a lot less free time for photos etc but I am still able to take photos around the island throughout the year. Editor5807speak 18:54, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Excellent! Very well done for getting those. I have yet to see any other pics of the coach on the island, so it's very good you managed to capture it. I suppose living on the island does make it a bit easier to see stuff! It that a new camera you have? It takes very nice pictures, some, like this one File:Southern Vectis 190 HW58 EPK 2.JPG, being especially crisp (and I've used that example to alert you to the error in the file name!). I note that you have taken a few pictures in Portsmouth (including those great/scary window cleaning ones). I though you might be interested to know that in the last week, apparently File:University of Portsmouth buses T134 AUA.JPG and its sister have disappeared and been replaced by some new Alexander Dennis Enviro400s. Anyway, thanks for getting the Greyhound pics, Arriva436talk/contribs 21:17, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. It is a new camera, which I have been very pleased with so far, one I much prefer to my older one, which seemed to be dying towards the end! I can't believe I made that error in the file name, I'll correct it now! I knew about the Portsmouth University buses a while ago, and luckily managed to get that photo of it at The Hard on its last day of operation. They were stored for a while at the University campus at Langstone, so I have a photo of both of them there as well. (Although as other coaches were in the way, and I was on a bus at the time the angle isn't great, but better than nothing). I also have two interior shots of the T136 AUA to upload. Editor5807speak 18:46, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, interesting about the Uni buses. Apparently there was a Dart too. Do you know about that? Sounds good about other Uni bus shots. Talking of Enviros and Portsmouth (now there's a link and a half :) !), the other big news is that Stagecoach South Downs is about to introduce a new fleet of Scania/Enviro400s onto Coastliner route 700 (Brighton - Portsmouth & Southsea). They're due in service from 1 March (most with "10" registrations), if you're interested. Arriva436talk/contribs 14:08, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
There is still a Dart, if I remember correctly it's 03 registered so must have been bought after the others, so has not been replaced yet. Thanks for the Coastliner info, I'll try to get some photos of the current buses on the service before they disappear. Editor5807speak 22:49, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
OK thanks. I did go to Chichester a couple of weeks ago to get the Coastliners before they're moved off the route, so photos of them aren't urgent. I just thought I'd tell you in case you see a new one while you're out and about. Three have already been delivered, one each for the three depots that run the route, Worthing, Chichester and Portsmouth. They can be seen on driver training, although apparently the Portsmouth one has just blown its engine up and had to go back to the factory.
Also thought I'd say that I'd uploaded File:Southern Vectis 318 SN03 ECD.JPG. That means we now have photos of all of the MPDs on Commons! Full set of Scania is my next job!! Arriva436talk/contribs 22:21, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
