Autopatrolled[edit]

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 14:02, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Patrol survey[edit]

New page patrol – Survey Invitation

Hello Dystopos/Archive 5! The WMF is currently developing new tools to make new page patrolling much easier. Whether you have patrolled many pages or only a few, we now need to know about your experience. The survey takes only 6 minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist us in analyzing the results of the survey; the WMF will not use the information to identify you.

  • If this invitation also appears on other accounts you may have, please complete the survey once only.
  • If this has been sent to you in error and you have never patrolled new pages, please ignore it.

Please click HERE to take part.
Many thanks in advance for providing this essential feedback.

You are receiving this invitation because you have patrolled new pages. For more information, please see NPP Survey

Disambiguation link notification[edit]

Hi, this message is to let you know about disambiguation links you've recently created. A link to a disambiguation page is almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. For more information, see the FAQ or drop a line at the DPL WikiProject.

Any suggestions for improving this automated tool are welcome. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 13:07, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Doris Burn edit rollbacks[edit]

Dystopos,

I know it's been a rather long time since you rolled back my changes on the Doris Burn article due to no source. Doris (or Doe as we called her) is my grandmother. I was with her in her final days with my family. She was struggling in her last years with Alzheimer disease and then broke her hip, followed by a rapid decline in health. We moved her to her daughter (my aunt) Skye's apartment and used it as a home hospice. She stopped eating and drinking and her morphine levels were adjusted to keep her comfortable until her body slowly shut down and she died some days later. Doe was an amazing woman, vibrant, fascinating, and always interested in the world and people around her. When I was a child I lived with her for a brief time in Oakland, California. Her small apartment was constantly filled with artists and other people. Watching her mind slowly slip away in the last few years was extraordinarily painful. As to the article and what I wrote, there was no primary source other than myself and the other family members and I'm not really sure how an individual is supposed to be a source, so no doubt your edits are factually correct under the verifiability clause, but I thought you might like to know why those edits were made.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Finnian.burn (talkcontribs)

  • Thanks for the comments. I can tell you that "Andrew Henry's Meadow" was very influential to me, and I am thankful for your grandmother's talents and sensibilities. If you believe the article contains shortcomings, let me know and we'll figure out the best way to improve it. --Dystopos (talk) 19:34, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dystopos,

Thanks for your reply. No, there is nothing in particular I would change, you've covered most of her life and work. Besides which, everything I can give you is first hand accounts and knowledge from growing up in the family and that won't meet the requirement of verifiability for wikipedia. I will say I'm glad that Andrew Henry's Meadow touched you. Mark Nathaniel Burn, the basis of the book, is my father. While the books is of course a work of fiction, I cannot count the number of strange adventures I've had with my dad exploring the working of some machine, industrial, or commercial system. Then again... I can't count the number of strange adventures I've had growing up a Burn in the Pacific Northwest. Each and every one of us is rather peculiar in the same vein as Doe or June and Farrar. Actually, that's something that's strange... you don't have any connection to June and Farrar Burn. They are the other prominent wikipedia family members, well June has her own page, Farrar seems to be relegated to other sources like the National Archives. If there's anything you'd like to know, feel free to ask. And thanks for authoring the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Finnian.burn (talkcontribs) 16:57, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • There's already a brief mention of the friendship struck up between the Burn and Wernstedt families after June interviewed Lage for the "Bellingham Herald." Glad to hear we've got the basics covered for Wikipedia. --Dystopos (talk) 19:41, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lant[edit]

Hello. Your article Lant has had a {{No footnotes}} template since 2010, meaning "This article includes a list of references, related reading or external links, but its sources remain unclear because it lacks inline citations. Please improve this article by introducing more precise citations." Perhaps you could respond, please, to identify the article's references more precisely. Thank you. — O'Dea (talk) 03:56, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • The references cover the same scope of information and specific quotes are clearly cited in the body of the article. I removed the template. Other editors are welcome to make formatting improvements if they think it is important to readers. --Dystopos (talk) 14:45, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I replied at Talk:Lant to make the conversation coherent. Since you put a copy of your reply on my talk page, I did not know you had replied here also. I have put Talk:Lant on my watchlist so you can reply there. Thank you. — O'Dea (talk) 20:31, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Gallery of flags with animals listed at Redirects for discussion[edit]

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Gallery of flags with animals. Since you had some involvement with the Gallery of flags with animals redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion (if you have not already done so). Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 12:14, 23 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Clark Winter has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced BLP, probably non-notable, includes peacock and weasel words.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fire station photos in Birmingham[edit]

Hi Dystopos. I wrote an article on Historic fire stations of Birmingham, Alabama, and ran across some photos of yours on flickr (specifically Station No. 22 and several of Station No. 12). Would you be willing to upload these (and any other historic fire station photos you may have) to Commons? It would greatly help out the article. Thanks! Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 03:23, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • You have my permission to re-use any of my Creative Commons photographs on Flickr here under a Wikimedia Commons-compatible license. --Dystopos (talk) 13:52, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I also ran across BhamWiki, but unfortunately the Local 117 site that was heavily linked seems to be dead and not well covered on archive.org. Spyder_Monkey (Talk) 01:29, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I noticed that. Unfortunate. --Dystopos (talk) 15:28, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
