Thank you[edit]

Hey, I just wanted to offer a belated welcome, and say thank you for doing so much to fix spelling and other mistakes! You're doing great, and if you want more info about how to help out in this area, you are more than welcome to join the Guild of Copyeditors. Steven Walling • talk 07:24, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for July 24[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Kim Waltrip, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Hit and Run and Tom Arnold (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Reverted edit[edit]

Hi Dobie80. FYI, I reverted your edit to Jackie Stewart (disambiguation). That page deliberately links to the redirect John Stewart (disambiguation), rather than John Stewart so that it doesn't show up on the list of "pages that link to (the disambiguation page) John Stewart". Feel free to ask here or at my talk page if you have any questions. Regards. DH85868993 (talk) 02:05, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 29[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. K. Michelle neutral notification[edit]

Since you've edited K. Michelle's article, do you have any opinion about the sources used for some of the material that's in there? I asked about them at Talk:K._Michelle#Problem_with_sources. Maybe you could weigh in on the discussion?— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 02:29, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Fixing wikilinks[edit]

Hi. I've noticed that you've edited quite a few articles with the intent of "fixing" wikilinks, that is avoiding redirects. Note that per WP:NOTBROKEN, this is not necessary and may in some cases be not a good idea. Just FYI. Thanks. --Jtalledo (talk) 11:57, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect tip[edit]

I notticed you fixed the Criticism of RealPlayer redirect. If you just want to say you redirected something, you don't even need to type an edit summery. Just leave the summery blank and (using Criticism of RealPlayer as an example) an automatic edit summary will be added saying "Redirected page to RealPlayer#Controversies Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 04:35, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Tough in this case it probably would have been better to add an {{Anchor}} to fix any and all links to that section that use the old title at once, whether they come from Wikipedia or anther website, or someone's bookmark. I've done that, so all links using the old Criticism title should be working now. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 04:46, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I appreciate it.Dobie80 (talk) 04:50, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Theatre"[edit]

Just so you know, the older spelling for "theater" is "theatre" - which is still the British spelling - and, being one of the oldest cities in the U.S., most theatres in NYC use that spelling. Please make certain, via official websites, that when you change "theatre" to "theater" that you are correctly representing the actual name of the place. Your correction for "Ed Sullivan Theater" was, however, correct. Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:47, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Knowing that, I double-checked ahead of time and the theater's official web site has it spelled as Theater and the sign on the front of the theater also has it spelled as Theater. Thanks, though. Dobie80 (talk) 01:54, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Caribian[edit]

I know it looks weird, but Suzuki of Thailand did spell it "Caribian". A quick Googling should show if you still have any doubt.  Mr.choppers | ✎  08:41, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your file moves but...[edit]

Thanks for doing all those file moves. Moves like File:Cambridge Public Libary - Cambridge, MA - DSC00103.JPG → File:Cambridge Public Library - Cambridge, MA - 4.jpg are definitely good. That being said, some of your recent moves are ones I'd advise against. Changing Beyonce to Beyoncé or Motley Crue to Mötley Crüe are technically spelling fixes, but that's an exceedingly minor change, and in general we try to avoid making file moves for minor changes because, well, moving files occasionally breaks things inexplicably. You're not doing anything wrong, but it's not something that I would have done. Just wanted to stop in and share my thoughts. Sven Manguard Wha? 23:46, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'll stop doing the minor changes, then.
Dobie80 (talk) 23:52, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
However, if there's some other reason to make changes, feel free to fix such things while doing so.
By the way, I have to disagree with Sven on one point: File:Cambridge Public Libary - Cambridge, MA - DSC00103.JPG → File:Cambridge Public Library - Cambridge, MA - 4.jpg is a relatively minor change - it removes the auto-generated numbering, but it adds arbitrary numbering of its own. Greta004.jpg or Gordonphoto.jpg are terrible file names, and should be changed the instant they're seen to something that's actually descriptive. - Adam Cuerden (talk) 02:29, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
But "libary" is always wrong. Dobie, bet you didn't know so many people were watching your talkpage!  Mr.choppers | ✎  03:14, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for all of your input guys. One of the only negative things (which is also a positive thing in a way) about the great way Wikipedia is set up is that there are not specific guidelines regarding specific questions like those I had about renaming files. They have help pages that have general guidelines to get you started, but they are not quite detailed enough. But now, I have people like you guys, Sven, and the various people that have complimented my work at whom I can throw questions I have. So, thank y'all.
I actually figured that with all the changes that I have made, that people were probably noticing me. But, I actually did not figure that would translate into people paying much attention to my talk page.
