Hi. Thank you for your help with the vital work of patrolling new pages. I noticed that you are not marking some of the pages you've reviewed as patrolled. Please do remember to click the 'mark this page as patrolled' link at the bottom of the new page if you have performed the standard patrolling tasks. Where appropriate, doing so saves time and work by informing fellow patrollers of your review of the page, so that they do not duplicate efforts. Thanks again for volunteering your time at the new pages patrol project.  Abhishek  Talk 13:25, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

New Page Patrolling

Hi. I'm just letting you know I have declined your CSD G3 on ROCK ON RADIO. This is an empty oage with only a leve2 heading. I can't see how that can be identified as vandalism; It might even still be a page in development because you tagged it after only 4 minutes. Please keep your eye on it and if it's not expanded in another 15 minutes or so, tag it again with the correct CSD template. Before you do that, have a look at WP:CSD to find the criteria that applies. Happy patrolling! --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 14:07, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

The authority of administrators

You wrote: "I have already consulted a administrator,he also said that this article was not a encyclopedic content and it should be deleted." For your information, administrators are in no way more authoritative than other editors concerning the suitability of content on Wikipedia. Their opinions count just as much, neither more, nor less.  --Lambiam 20:28, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Some users who are administrators have been around for many years, but some are relatively new. For example, Lear's Fool and Redrose64 have only been editing since 2009. And many if not most editors who signed up before 2003, say, and who are still active today, such as Stephen Gilbert or Eclecticology, have not become admins. So really it doesn't make sense to invoke administrators as an authority because they have more experience than other users; often they don't, and even if they happen to do, experience does not always lead to sound judgments.  --Lambiam 15:47, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

List of Sonic the Hedgehog video game characters

It appears I need to explain the pun to you.

  1. Here's what you keep changing it to: His name is a pun on "miles prower".
  2. Here's what it should be: His name is a pun on "miles per hour".

Now, what you keep changing it to is how it's correctly spelled, but it doesn't explain the pun, or joke, to his name. The pun is that, if you say "miles per hour", it sounds just the same as "Miles Prower", his name. Say both out loud if you still don't get it. Anyways, "miles per hour" is a pun because it's a reference to speed, (miles per hour) and the Sonic game series is one based on speed. Get it?

  • Secondly, even if I was wrong,(I'm not, but lets say I was.) it would not be vandalism, as it was in good faith, where as vandalism is done in bad faith. (Read WP:VANDALISM.) Now, if I was writing something nonsensical, like changing it to "Miles paio;nasd;r", that would be vandalism, as there's no way that could ever be correct. However, this was not the case, as I was clearly trying to be constructive. As such, you shouldn't be using rollback in this example, you should do it as a normal "revert" or "undo", with an edit summary. Sergecross73 msg me 12:56, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

New Page Patrolling

HI. I notice that you tagged the article Oscar Kawagley as an autobiography. This is an unsourced BLP. All unsourced BLPs since March 2010 should be tagged with the WP:BLPPROD template. Happy patrolling! --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 07:12, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi Dipankan001. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Motened, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. This article was not an attack page. Autobiography tags

Hello, and thanks for patrolling new pages. But what is it about Pong Sarasin and Oscar Kawagley that leads you to believe that they're autobiographies? Thanks, Angry Python (talk) 07:51, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

Declined speedy

Hi, I wanted to let you know I declined the speedy request for Dinis Silva Gomes Resende. Its obvious, at least to me, that this is an article about a footballer. I don't see any other obvious CSD criteria it would fall under. Thanks, Sparthorse (talk) 15:33, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

Ditto for Elapeedika which has enough context to identify the subject. This one may well be worth a prod but I don't think it qualifies as a speedy. Thanks, Sparthorse (talk) 15:35, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
Anyone can remove speedy deletion tags, except the original author, so please do not tell me not to do that. You said: "Wikipedia is not a place for only one line definition articles,It should be improved" - exactly, the article should be improved, not deleted. The article says "The place "Elapeedika" situated in Kannur district, Kerala state, India" which is sufficient context for me to see this is an article about a specific place in India. CSD:A1 says "Articles lacking sufficient context to identify the subject of the article", I can easily identify the subject of the article, so this criteria does not apply. Thanks, Sparthorse (talk) 15:44, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
No problem, I didn't think you were being rude. Best, Sparthorse (talk) 15:49, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

Something to make your life easier!

Hi there Dipankan001! I've just come across one of your articles (or edits), and noticed that you might appreciate some help with references.

You might want to consider using this tool – it makes your life a whole heap easier, by filling in complete citation templates for your links. All you do is install the script:

// Add [[WP:Reflinks]] launcher in the toolbox on left
addOnloadHook(function () {
 addPortletLink(
  "p-tb",     // toolbox portlet
  "http://toolserver.org/~dispenser/cgi-bin/webreflinks.py/" + wgPageName
   + "?client=script&citeweb=on&overwrite=&limit=30&lang=" + wgContentLanguage,
  "Reflinks"  // link label
)});

on Special:MyPage/skin.js, then paste the bare URL (without [...] brackets) between your <ref></ref> tabs, and you'll find a clickable link called Reflinks in your toolbox section of the page (probably in the left hand column). Then click that tool. It does all the rest of the work (provided that you remember to save the page! It doesn't work for everything (particularly often not for PDF documents), but for pretty much anything ending in "htm" or "html" (and with a title) it will do really, really well. So long! Tests

Please do not conduct you own personal tests in mainspace. We have out own ways of testing the site software. If you suspect a bug, please report it on the appropriate page at the WP:Village pump. Thanks. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 10:01, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

RfA

Hi Dipankan! I appreciate your enthusiasm, but it's best if you don't create RfA pages for people - that's not quite the way we do things. RfA is a very delicate subject, and not everyone wants to be an admin. I think you should wait until you have a lot more experienced before you get involved in RfA matters. Vote for candidates on their RfA if you like, after doing plenty of research of course. Do keep up your other good work :) Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 16:42, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Re:Speedy Deletion

You placed a note on my talk page concerning the speedy deletion of something called "Corgan China". Please note that I did not create this article, nor have I ever edited it. I wasn't even aware of its existance. I assume you made some sort of mistake. Regards. Joefromrandb (talk) 20:34, 24 October 2011 (UTC) Joefromrandb (talk) 00:01, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Please note that I use Twinkle, and Twinkle placed the tag on your talk page.

After you placed a message on my talk page,I went to that page, clicked the earliest revision history link;that is Corgan123,and it had a redirect to your talk page. However,I will look over this issue. Dipankan001 (talk) 16:24, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
