October 2020[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm The Banner. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Waterford have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse. Thanks. The Banner talk 19:44, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello banner it was constructive in that it was a very important electoral event in Waterford City and Irish history and that is the fact of the matter. Declan Redmond (talk) 00:02, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any sources for it (note: Wikipedia is not a source for Wikipedia)?? And is there any family relation? The Banner talk 22:06, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please at this to your addition. The Banner talk 22:46, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No relation Banner just love this period in local history as I had lots of stories handed down through family who had people involved. Declan Redmond (talk) 23:04, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I arrived here to query the addition and interpretation of these sources, and find that there is already a handy thread. Nice. In any event, while I don't know how to put it more plainly than I did in my recent edit summary, but those sources do not materially support most of that text. The Irish Times article may support a claim of strong Redmondite affiliation in Waterford, and the RIA/DIB article may support the text about William Redmond sitting at Westminster (as MP) rather than the first Dáil (as TD). But the editorial at the start of that section (that the entirety of Waterford, or those in Waterford who voted for the IPP/Redmond in 1918 were voting against devolution) is entirely synthesis. A vote for a specific candidate is not (de facto) a vote against something else. And neither source states as much. Guliolopez (talk) 17:31, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
