Your question on NCH[edit]

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed your question on WP:NCH, and assume your new article is the one you've written on your userpage (User:Dcgreek). What you'll need to do is put the article on a User sub page (Read Help:Userspace draft, by (for example) copy and pasting the content below into User:Dcgreek/John-Manuel Andriote. Once you've done that, let me know by clicking the pink "talk" and editing my talk page. Liqudlucktalk 02:38, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about editing your userpage- clicked the wrong link on your signature by accident. Liqudlucktalk 02:50, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind about contacting me- I see you've created the page. I'm going to make a couple of formatting edits, and I'll tell you how to move the page once I'm done. Liqudlucktalk 02:54, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've finished formatting. I'll tell you about moving pages, but first I want to tell you about some of my concerns about your article:
  • While Andriote, as the author of an ALA honored book may be notable enough to merit an article, the article may soon be deleted if it is not properly referenced. You're on the right path to referencing, but rather than linking to the official website of the publication, you should link to the actual url of the article. For example, to reference the Kirkus Review, you would link to this uchicago site, since it contains the actual review. To learn about formatting references, see WP:Referencing for beginners.
  • Secondly, the article is written as more of an ad for Victory Deferred than as a biography of Andriote. I'd recommend separating the article into the sections "personal life", "victory deferred", and "other works". You can create sections by typing == Section title == into your article, with the section text beneath the header. It's not a matter of "delete or keep", but if it is nominated for a deletion discussion, it would helpful for it to appear as an actual article rather than an ad.
  • You may want to ask for further feedback on the draft before moving at Wikipedia:Requests for feedback.

Having said that, here's how to move it. At the top of User:Dcgreek/John-Manuel Andriote, there should be a "move" tab, in the same row as the "edit", "history", and other tabs. Click move. You'll see two white text boxes- in the first one, delete "User:Dcgreek/John-Manuel Andriote" and replace it with "John-Manuel Andriote". In the box below ("reason"), type "move from userspace to namespace". Click the "move" button, and you're done. Ask further questions on my talk page or at WP:NCH. The article Arnie Kantrowitz has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. editing a page about yourself[edit]

Editing a page which is written about yourself is discouraged here in Wiki largely because of the NPOV policies. Pjefts (talk) 15:45, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Dcgreek. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Pjefts (talk) 18:34, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Junius J. Gonzales requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.northcarolina.edu/news/2014/11/gonzales-named-senior-vice-president-academic-affairs-university-north-carolina. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. /wiae /tlk 17:13, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
