Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Recent edit[edit]

You cannot simply copy material as you did in Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, even if it is referenced. It should be written in your own words with rare exceptions and in those cases should be set off in quotes or in block quotes.--S Philbrick(Talk) 21:14, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

August 2016[edit]

Hello, I'm Mike1901. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Mike1901 (talk) 21:29, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Qadri[edit]

Hello. Wikipedia requires assertions to be referenced with citations to reliable, authoritative, and neutral third-party sources. Please try to learn what "third party" means. Your sources fall short of Wikipedia standards because they are directly connected to Tahir-ul-Qadri, to his political party or to Minhaj-ul-Quran. Many of your statements are clearly not neutral in tone, but are excessively flattering, if not actually hagiographical. Two good sets of Wikipedia guidelines that I have found really useful can be found HERE and HERE. Regards, George Custer's Sabre (talk) 11:45, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

August 2016[edit]

Your recent editing history at Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
Over the last few days, at least four different users have objected to the content you are adding to this article, citing important Wikipedia policies like WP:BLP, WP:RS, and WP:NPOV. If you continue to add this content back to the article without achieving WP:CONSENSUS for its inclusion, your editing privileges are likely to be suspended and you are likely to be blocked. You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring, as you did at Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  NeilN talk to me 16:21, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri`s page was marked for lack of neutrality and citations, in the course of past 3 days I have been adding appropriate citations and references and made considerable structural changes to the page to reflect neutrality and bring the page upto Wikipedia standards, as the page belongs to an influential person and the current state of the page is very dismal. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz and GorgeCustersSabre have been repeatedly reverting my changes without providing any satisfactory answer, the Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri talk page is also full with similar complaints by editors who tried to make the page neutral. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz engaged me in an edit war, a few minutes ago I sent the user a level 3 vandalism warning, but in return I have been blocked for restoring the neutrality Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri`s page. Therefore I appeal the administers to kindly remove my edit ban. Danial 16:36, 19 August 2016 (UTC)

Decline reason:

This edit makes it clear that you do not understand what constitutes "vandalism."] OhNoitsJamie Talk 17:41, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

There was no attempt to address other editors' concerns about your significant changes to this BLP on the talk page. Why did you not follow the instructions in the edit warring warning? --NeilN talk to me 16:41, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I sent a level 3 Vandalism warning on Hullaballoo Wolfowitz`s talk page, which if I am not wrong is what one should do when they see vandalism. Muhammmad Tahir ul Qadri`s page has a 4 year history of being vandalised by these users, other editors raised the same concerns I have and got irrelevant replies. Being an administrator you can see my edit history, I have provided references and citations to make the page as neutral as possible. Danial 16:51, 19 August 2016 (UTC)

Note to reviewing admin: Based on DanialAhmedSheikh's repeated characterizations of good faith edits as "vandalism" and his seeming inability to see using the article talk page as the proper way to go, I do not recommend lifting this block. --NeilN talk to me 16:56, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violation[edit]

Some of the content you added to Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri was copied from http://www.minhaj.org/english/tid/1799/Minhaj-ul-Quran-International.html, a copyright web page. Not all of it, but enough to trigger a bot report. All content you add to this wiki needs to be written in your own words please. — Diannaa (talk) 18:54, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, DanialAhmedSheikh. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Saqib (talk) 19:20, 27 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
