Level crossing accidents CFD

As the last participant in the Category:Level crossing accidents in the United States CFD, I suggested that it be renamed to Category:Railroad crossing accidents in the United States instead of the proposed Category:Grade crossing accidents in the United States. An admin closed the proposal as "move to Grade crossing...", but he also noted that another CFD regarding my proposal would be a valid option, so I've nominated Grade crossing accidents in the USA for renaming to Railroad crossing accidents in the USA. Please visit Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2015 March 5 and offer your opinion, if you have one. Nyttend (talk) 02:27, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

New NRHP nomination in Long Beach

At the next SHPB meeting, they will be considering one more new nomination on Long Island:

  • Barkin House, 84 East Olive Street, [[Long Beach, New York|Long Beach].

It seems like it would be pretty easy to take a picture of when you're in that area: it's an International Style house, so it's big and blocky (see the pics at the end of the nomination) and stands out from its neighbors. Daniel Case (talk) 19:00, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

Hmm, looks kind of Art Deco with a bit of Bauhaus there. Almost like my description of the 1939 World's Fair LIRR station, but only less fantastic. If I can't get it on my next trip, I'll put it on my list of pictures to add. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 19:24, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

Station stuff

Since you participated in the RM discussion at Talk:Greenbelt Station#Requested move 7 February_2015, you may have thoughts worth commenting on at the related RFC at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (US stations)#RfC: some proper talkin' about station title conventions, including especially the survey at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (US stations)#Simpler questions / concise survey. If so, please comment there. Dicklyon (talk) 05:25, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Blue Bell

SEPTA Elmwood Depot off Island Ave

This weekend I got lost looking for Colwyn, PA (the closest I got was Colwyn Ave. in Darby, half a block away), and stumbled across the Elmwood Depot, which you asked me about last August. Checking my archives I still couldn't remember exactly what the question was :p , but here's a pic, I could upload about 5 more, but that one's the best. There are also a few pix on what's probably an much older trolley (or maybe just a different paint job). Do let me know if you're interested in any of this!

I was also in Yeadon the week before and trying to figure out what to take a picture of, but I settled for File:Downtown Yeadon, PA.JPG and File:House in Yeadon, PA.JPG. All this is a long way of saying, I know the location of the Blue Bell Tavern very well and have been meaning to get a pic for a while. Yes the traffic pattern there makes it difficult. I'll likely get it tomorrow if, as forecast, it is sunny. Along with Colwyn, Glenolden, and Ridley Township. (We're trying to get pix of every municipality in Pennsylvania - see List of municipalities in Pennsylvania and User:Nyttend/Pennsylvania)

This is what "it really looks like".
I snuck around and got a couple of angles where it doesn't all look like traffic signs and wires, but this is what I think the "true picture" is. For some reason I put them all at Commons:Category:Blue Bell Tavern, rather than Blue Bell Inn. There are several HABS pix in Category:Darby, Pennsylvania from the 1930s with a big building to the NE that's been torn down. I'd swear it's in Philly though, e.g. the street sign right in front is pure Philly. Smallbones(smalltalk) 22:02, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
I saw your gallery. Nice. I can't really see the evidence of a Philly Street Sign, because I can't get close-up views of *tif files, and wouldn't know the older Philly street signs anyhow, but I still see enough of the "1766" and "H-P" markings (http://www.darbyhistory.com/BlueBell1.html) to make me think this might be the same building and the bigger part might've been torn down for the Cobbs Creek Parkway. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 22:41, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
Oh, there's no question that it's the same building. My question is what municipality it's in. The green "Woodland Avenue" and blue "W arterial E" signs are right in front of the building in my photo on this page. Woodland is the street name in Philly - main street is the name in darby. HABS supplemental info has "Philadelphia" crossed out, with "Darby" handwritten in its place. [1] says Darby. Google maps leans toward Philly (search Darby, PA). A cup of coffee for you!

Hello. Have you had a problem with someone in New York? There are a few of us in New York that do mediation and dispute resolution for in-person meetups. There are limits to what we can do online, but we do want to minimize the problems that people have at the in-person meetups and it would be helpful if you could share some more about whatever problem you experienced here in the city. Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:20, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
It's not a problem with somebody in New York that I'm having. It's an administrator who has been messing up a lot of WP:Trains articles. Otherwise, the only other problem would be my ability to get back up to New York for this meetup. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 16:32, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. Getting involved with on-wiki disputes is another issue. I wish you good luck with that. Perhaps I will see you another time. Blue Rasberry (talk) 19:58, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
