Speedy Deletion declined

Hi there, I just wanted to to let you know that I declined one of your recent speedy deletion nomination because it doesn't satisfy G5 criteria. Please have a look at our criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks. Masum Reza📞 18:26, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion declined

Hello, CptViraj,

I'm not sure why you tagged 7 Dollar Taxi as an attack article when it is a not-so-good article about a band with nothing negative that I could see. Please refrain from CSD tagging until you become better familiarized with CSD criteria as I see a few declined speedies on your talk page. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 16:57, 1 June 2019 (UTC)

@Liz: Hii i'm sorry, I mistakenly tagged with wrong csd. CptViraj (Talk) 17:09, 1 June 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: Tommy Sotomayor

Hello CptViraj. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Tommy Sotomayor, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not a copyvio and/or source is public domain or under another free compatible license. Thank you. Sam Sailor 12:06, 7 June 2019 (UTC)

Save a few clicks

When you apply a speedy delete tag there is no need to tag the talk page as well, eg. as you did with draft talk:Zenkit. When I delete any non-talk page which has a talk page associated I automatically get a big red message inviting me to delete the talk page. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:42, 7 June 2019 (UTC)

@RHaworth: Got it, Thanks! --CptViraj (Talk) 12:47, 7 June 2019 (UTC)

CSD tagging

Hello, CptViraj,

I appreciate your CSD tagging and editing in general. However, a reminder that CSD G13 applies to:

a page in the draftspace, a declined/unsubmitted userspace Articles for Creation page, or a draft in either namespace with no content except the placeholder article wizard text that has not been edited (excluding bot edits) in over six months

G13 doesn't apply to non-AFC draft user sandboxes, especially ones that are practically blank! There is no cause to delete user sandboxes unless the editor submits a draft through their sandbox to AfC and THEN the draft sits, unedited, for six months. That wasn't the case in several pages that you tagged which were simply editors' sandboxes. They can be left for whatever purpose the editor intends as long as they are not attack pages, copyright violations or spam. Thank you again for your help. Liz Read! Talk! 05:40, 8 June 2019 (UTC)

@Liz: Got it, Thanks! --CptViraj (Talk) 06:38, 8 June 2019 (UTC)

Hello CptViraj. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:Heimstern/Wikipedia is going to suck sometimes, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not blatantly vandalism or a hoax. Thank you. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 19:23, 8 June 2019 (UTC)

Okay Np. Thanks and Regards! --CptViraj (Talk) 02:24, 9 June 2019 (UTC)
Hi, could you possibly slow down a bit with the tagging? It's rather annoying to come back from lurking on Wikipedia to find someone has tagged your good-faith essay as a "blatant hoax, so blatant as to constitute vandalism". I'm assuming good faith and that this was either a misclick or that you really weren't aware that userspace essays like that are perfectly valid under our policy, but either way, it really shouldn't have happened. Based on other messages here on this talk page, it seems you've had a fair number of speedy tags declined, so I really think it would be in Wikipedia's best interests if you were to go a little slower to make sure you get the tagging right. Heimstern Läufer (talk) 05:30, 9 June 2019 (UTC)
I'm sorry! Thanks for the note. --CptViraj (Talk) 05:47, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

In a similar vein, I've declined User:Epicgenius/logo. I don't see how this is vandalism. Mackensen (talk) 17:29, 10 June 2019 (UTC)

@Mackensen: see bottom of the page. -- CptViraj (Talk) 17:31, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
@CptViraj: If that was your concern, you could have just notified me with a friendly message. Obviously it's immature, but tagging userspace pages like that tends to come off as a little rude, since you tagged it as "blatant hoax" even though I haven't edited it in six years. I'm going to assume that you were doing these in good faith, but I'd suggest taking Heimstern's advice to slow down a little. epicgenius (talk) 18:10, 10 June 2019 (UTC)

Deletion of new topic: "Liberal Fundamentalism"

Will you please help me find the Wikipedia page "Liberal Fundamentalism" which I created. While this term is new, it is now in 'common usage' and has even been the subject of this Wall Street Journal article: https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB122701998863637231. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MatthewNoelMurray (talkcontribs) 14:23, 13 June 2019 (UTC)

Thank you!

I just wanted to stop by and offer my gratitude for the hard work that you dedicate to Wikipedia. I was going through the new user log, saw that Nivae already made an edit, and took a look at the edit to see that the user made a test edit (content was removed with the word "test" clearly replacing it). I went to the user's talk page expecting to see a warning for vandalism and anticipating that I'll need to remove it and replace it with the proper edit test general note. I arrive there to find that you had left the correct message for the user, something I rarely see done correctly (if you haven't read the Wikipedia essay that I wrote about this, you're missing out). I just wanted to come here and express my appreciation for not only your hard work and dedication but also for your care and attention, making sure to leave the right messages and warnings for the edits actually being made. Keep up the excellent work; your time and energy makes a difference here - even if you don't think that it does. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 14:17, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Hype Hype! Thank you for helping me. 😄 -- CptViraj (📧) 14:48, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi CptViraj! I've been running into you in recent changes patrolling and I happened to notice that you don't have the rollback or pending changes reviewer user rights. I hope you don't mind, but I went through your contributions and I noticed that you're quite active in recent changes patrolling, and that you consistently view and undo vandalism and bad faith disruption. I believe that these user rights would be useful for you to have and that you'd make good use of both tools. Instead of having you formally request these user rights at WP:PERM, I went ahead and just gave them to you. These user rights allow you to review edits that are pending approval on pages currently under pending changes protection, and to quickly revert the edits of other users in cases of blatant vandalism.

Rollback user right
Please keep these things in mind at all times when using rollback to revert edits:
  • Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle. It just adds a "[Rollback]" button next to a page's latest edits - that's all. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you (obviously).
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only, and never used to revert good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose, the rights will be revoked.
  • Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask.
For more information on how to use rollback, see this tutorial page.
Pending changes reviewer user right
Keep these things in mind regarding the tool or when you're reviewing any pending changes:
  • A list of articles with pending edits awaiting review can be viewed at Special:PendingChanges, and a list of the articles currently under pending changes protection can be viewed at Special:StablePages.
  • Being granted and having these rights does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you (obviously).
  • You'll generally want to accept any pending changes that appear to be legitimate edits and are not blatant vandalism or disruption, and reject edits that are problematic or that you wouldn't accept yourself.
  • Never accept any pending changes that contain obvious and clear vandalism, blatant neutral point of view issues, copyright violations, or BLP violations.
You may find the following pages useful to review:

I'm sure you'll do fine with these user rights - they're pretty straight-forward and they don't drastically change the interface that you're used to already. Nonetheless, please don't hesitate to leave me a message on my user talk page if you run into any questions, get stuck anywhere or run into any issues or problem, or if you're not sure if the use of either tool is appropriate or not and need my input or advice, and I'll be more than happy to help you. If you no longer want one or both of these user rights, let me know and I'll be happy to remove them for you. Thank you for helping to locate, revert, and remove vandalism, as well as review and keep disruptive edits off of Wikipedia - it's a very thankless job to perform and I want you to know that it doesn't go unnoticed and that I appreciate it very much. Happy editing! :-D ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 14:22, 30 June 2019 (UTC

@Oshwah: Thank you so much for being kind to everyone. These special rights will be very useful for me to kickout vandalism. Thanks again for always helping me and for appreciating my contributions. (plz ignore my bad grammer, i'm still learning). -- CptViraj (📧) 14:42, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
No problem! Just remember to only use these user rights if you're 100% sure that it follows policy and is within the criteria. If you're not sure, ask. If you stick do doing this at all times, you'll be absolutely fine and you won't run into any problems. :-) Happy editing! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:52, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
